Thanks for watching!
For those of you concerned about the fairness of the Twitter/Instagram prize -- I understand your concerns and I do agree that it does have bias due to existing followers and audience. I made this prize in the very beginning of this challenge with no knowledge that it would grow to be as wide spread and accepted as it did. Please recognize that I did state that I would award prizes to them for this competition, so I will follow through. If they have any input or requests, I will certainly take that into account. I will address this differently in the future. If you have any more input or recommendations, please don't hesitate to let me know. Thank you.
dude gleb is a youtuber obviously he would get alot of likes
Still he did pretty good. deserved imo.
whoa im surprised im in that video (made the black hole)
but still looking at the winners its insane what you can do with just a sphere ;-;
Sphere gumbo, roasted sphere, boiled sphere, sphere cocktail, sphere a la king,... ;-)
haha xD
Thanks for the enthusiasm dude! Had an absolute blast with the contest, great stuff. :D
Again, thank you to everyone who submitted one or more renders! It's really amazing seeing how much talent resides in the Blender community. You all did amazing.
Isn't the twitter/instagram category unfair? If people have a bigger following, they'd get more exposure, no?
I feel like this has potential to become one of those inktober or sculptjanuary things ( maybe Simplicity September?) Next year you could have it be like one simplicity render like this per week throughout September?
Also if you do decide to make it like that (or just again at some future date) I think it'd be super cool to encourage people to post in blendswap or similar site for people to actually see the blend files and be able to study how the final results were created.
Anyhow really cool event, amazing submissions! (y)
I'm certainly doing something like this again! I love the Blendswap idea too. A great way to share knowledge. Thanks for the recommendation!
Cheers, thx for starting something so cool. Hopefully I'll have more experience with procedural stuff by then to get something cool done next time P:
Also blendswap would be super cool. I've got zero cool how some of the stuff was done. (although stalking people's twitters is proving fruitful.) I feel like cloud.blender could also be good channel (I know The Mantissa posted his there) but since it isn't as open as blendswap I feel like swap might be better to encourage for event-thingy like this.
Anyhow looking forward to next one, peace.
You should really take all the top submissions and make a grid collage and have it printed in paint on canvas then hang it on your wall. You should also for sure make a coffee book of renders like this.
Hello, great video! The results were very interesting. I have a question regarding Cycles render times in Blender. I recently entered an animation contest, but I had to download a template file to begin. Now that it’s done, the render times are insanely long, about 30 minutes. Normal files I use have the same criteria and only take around 1-2 minutes. Any idea what setting might be throwing it off? Thanks.
Very happy to sponsor this challenge. Congrats guys. Please enjoy the ebook. :D
I mean these scenes aren't actually as simple as their basic shapes- a complex render of a cube circuitry machinery sci-fi thing isn't really a cube, it does consist of more polygons, but I get the idea.
Haven't I seen this somewhere before? Another UA-camr ish doing the same challenge
Aww, crap I forgot.
Please do another sometime soon! Even though I didn't submit mine, this was fun!
This is just a proove that you should NEVER delete the default cube. THINK ABOUT THE POSSIBILITIES !!!
you should look at zen art for simplicity.
Thanks for the idea and the competition! Had a good time wrestling with modifiers and materials. I read "Simplicity September" somewhere in the comments, sounds good :D
+Mats Lemmens :)
Gleb has more instagram followers.
I'm not your fav. xD
And...... one through discord
Nice video, also, you forgot to take down my invalid entry from the site! And, What? Tomology's entries should have at least made #1, if not higher! Lol
the first intro what I like.
guess mine just missed the cut haha, everyone did great congratulations to all the winners!
+Tavuk Ve Ben Oh shoot! I forgot to hit the update button on the site when I added the last few entries. Check again in about 5 minutes (it'll be near the bottom because it's sorted chronologically)
Fantastic works, very creative in general. My favorites are Midge, Gleb and @MIKAELSEIDLER. Thank you so much for sharing
: ^ )
I still wish I could have found the render you said was creepier than mine !
I mean come on I made ball grow lips & tentacles then pet it's self & say "it feels nice " XD what could have been creepier then that !
P.s. I had a lot fun doing this challenge!
I went back through them, and I think the render I was talking about was the skin ball, but after review, yours was certainly creepier.
Remington Graphics haha I did see that one , thanks for letting me know , and hope you do more challenges in the future!
I enjoyed so much this challenge! It wasn't only fun, it was also a good way to me improve my skills. Would be possible for you to makr more challenges like this one?
Thank you so much.
