Tony , you are the man , I started watching salt strong for any and all fishing tips . The way you explain and demonstrate any info is amazing. Keep up the great work , I am now a huge fan because of you. 👌
If you tread the hook from the point side verses the back it will give you a better hook set while using the circle hook. Threading it from the point side puts the hook in a better strike position.
Man being a insider member and seeing all these comments from ignorant stubborn people sure makes me glad im a member, you just dont see the negativity there!
I want to try slideline fishing in Galveston but they have 10 ft length limit in rods. It lets you put a whole or half frozen mullet 100 tards out without hurting baif
@@markbraun3831 which beach ? Cuz I see guys with 12-14 ft rods in Galveston every time I’m there. I use a 10-12’ medium heavy surf rod with 4oz weight on a double drop rig. 4oz Sputnik’s hold great in our fast surf.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I've learned another rig today. I will try this rig the next time I go fishing after the COVID-19 is over. I would like to premake 3 or 4 of this rig so I don't have to spend much time to rig it at the fishing place.
I also find that a spider hitch knot works really well as a boom instead of that first overhand knot you tied here. You can generally get a little bit more length out of the spider hitch, plus they just look better.
@@000Mach James, thanks for the info. I will check them out and keep them in mind. I would have never considered a jigging rod for that situation. Again thanks
I have never tried this, but could you cut the loop to make it one line to avoid having a double line making it too thick. I doubt that the knot would fail. Anyone ever try this?

You're welcome!
I use 4to6 oz for surf fishing
same in Galveston

Very informative! I love changing weights and hooks on the fly! Never know what the current will be that day!
Thanks for watching!
That would probably work good at the jetties in south texas.
It does
Nice job walking through the rig!!
Fish piers bridges and beach

I’m thinking 50# mono and pitch it in the surf. Nice easy leader!
U R THE MAN BRO. !!!
Good work thanks Tony
Awesome rig!
I like using frog tongue sinkers
Thanks
How much space should be between the hook loop and weight loop?
Great video. What size swivel?

I still like a fish finder rig with a 10 or 12 oz weight if needed to hold the bottom
10 oz damn son you got a Gatorade bottle as a weight ?
@@genesisnkaidence8519 lol no just bank sinkers. We use them while fishing in heavy current in the bay for bull reds
Yeah . Thinking there aren't many rods that can handle 10oz of weight.
@@ronfrederick9983 several guides use the Shimano trevala jigging rods. I have a set of these as well, with daiwa saltist.

You could've just done the t knot (aka dropper loop knot) and skipped the first knot (aka figure 8 knot)

I have cut it to make a bigger line and it works just as well.
How long is the length of the leader. Weight, to hook, to swivel?
Leader length will always depend on the desired depth you're fishing. For this rig, 12-18 inches will do the trick.
Why did you choose to use the trilene knot? Why not a palomar?
What rods do you own or use for saltwater.
Tony,
Thanks, do you suggest the swivel to the main line braid?
Hi looking for info for fishing in the beach thanks
Do you make your own spider weights if so what kind of wire is it made from and size wire?
Can u use just a regular droper loop ?
The T knot keeps the drop loop off of the leader line. Less chance of tangling.
What size circle hook
Hi do you know if a 4 oz sinker is too heavy for a 10lb rod?
It will depend on what you're fishing for and where you're fishing. You can check out our blog at www.saltstrong.com/fishing-tips/ and search there for more information.
Thanks for replying
Or you can just buy one for a dollar lol
