For reference, Stormherald from Helsreach was an Imperator-class Emperor titan. They're immensely powerful, but they're not going to be one-shotting anything near city-sized. An Ordinatus like Oberon might, but they're one-off relics where no Ordinatus is the same as any other. To answer your question about scale, if an Emperor titan's gun is a 203mm heavy siege gun then Oberon is a full-on 16" 50 main battery gun from a battleship. The nova cannon on the Oberon is the same kind of weapon used as main guns on some classes of Imperial battleships, vessels that measure in the kilometers in length. Firing it at an Ork stompa is like using a sledgehammer that's on fire to kill a cockroach, it's exactly the kind of absurd overkill that 40k is built on. In the Helsreach book there's a few chapters from the POV of the priest in charge of the cathedral on top of Stormherald that you might enjoy if you like the idea of how many people work to make an Imperator titan function.
Leutin is one of the most accurate youtubers of Warhammer lore that I can think of, the videos can be a little heavy to process, but you can know that he won't exaggerate, nor confuse the real story with memes or head canons, or at least he will try to be as precise as possible.
As always link to the video in the description! You guys have been asking for more Luetin and I love his content so here you go! Thank you again for all the great recommendations, KEEP THEM COMING! See you guys in the next one! :)
1:13:45 so for why Titans have melee Is the same reason I see space marines have chainswords which is that, when you have enemies that can teleport like Necron, Orks and Eldar or massive deamons (of Khorne for example) that can manifest anywhere on the battlefield via warp portals, tactical distance isn't always an option, so having that plan B is always handy
thanks for the shout thoe no worries, if it wasnt me then i think anyone of us who enjoys this hobby would give recommendations to help learn more. soon you will start painting, and that will be fun for you i promise. and if its so that you are "scared" for a lack of better word that you wont be good at it so that is whats holding you back trying it/doing it. all i will say is trust me we all arent good at it when we start and you will get tips and tricks from all of us to get better, and there are so many videos that will also give you that so you will get better. so welcome to the war on your wallet

We actually saw Stormherald use a Plasma Annihilator during the right against the Ork Gargant in the final episode of Helsreach. It was the shot that missed and shut Stormherald down. To be fair, the Moderati mentioned that the plasma reactors were starved of power, which is why they were encouraging Princeps Zahar to get out of the fight and give the reactors a chance to recharge. An Ordinatus Majoris like “Oberon” is stronger even than the big guns on an Emperor Class Titan.
45:24 uh no the Princeps isn't psykers and you don't want to be a psyker for the psi-titan as you are strapped to the Titan as the battery until you burn out and died then replace with another, psi titans are operated by Princeps who are also blanks which is extremely rare to have both
Psi-Titans are super interesting (and absolutely horrific). "Ordo Sinister" by John French is a short story about a psi-titan in the Burden of Loyalty anthology you can listen to without spoiling the overall Horus Heresy story. And it's narrated by the man, the legend, Jonathan Keeble.
Cannon of the Oberon is basically so-called Nova-cannon - super heavy plasma-artillery usually mounted on capital-class Imperial ships. It can one-shot most of lighter class ships and cause significant damage to ships of their own tonnage
With the story at the beginning of the video with I'm assuming a warlord class titan with the shockwave it caused from its cannon two weapons come go mind which is the Plasma Annihilator (the sunfury) or the volcano canon as they are both powerful energy based cannons
Yeah and its no wonder why! Seeing one of those approach from a distance would be a crazy sight, I would hate to be fighting anywhere close to it thought! Xd Hope you enjoy the video :)
So if u wanna know something really cool and sad for the Imperium that is that two orks a squig and a grot (basically a goblin) and a teleporting buggy took down a warlord titan
Something I find quite interesting is how 40k is very ambiguous with certain information, in this case machine spirits because whenever they’re relevant it’s not made clear whether they are ai(computer programmes) or actual spirits and you’ll get some information pointing in one direction and another pointing in a different direction and I really really love it, not to mention that when ai are actually mentioned specifically it’s very unambiguous that they’re explicitly ai, there’s also some wacky stuff that happens with chaos when ai is involved and other times chaos just completely ignores them
I think that machine spirits are a thing that exist, I also think that sometimes it’s actually ai, usually for things older than God 😂 and sometimes it’s just a servitor screaming in agony because the mechanicus screwed up the lobotomy and it woke up.
@ not to mention that we now also have the machine chaos faction with Vashtorr and the soul forges which also might muddy things a bit, I’m definitely interested in seeing where they take that.
43:17 Sanguinius has destroyed an elder Titan, a couple of warhounds titans and a warlord Titan or emperor class im unsure on which in melee combat and khãrn the Betrayer from the worlds eaters got inside the emperor Titan and solo killed everyone
If you are interested in Psi Titans and in general the most nightmarish force that the Imperium can wield, then look up the Ordo Sinister. Luetin did also a video on them with the title THE SECRETS OF PSI-TITANS - THE ORDO SINISTER, so I would recommend this one.
Titans are always awesome! I really am looking for a good video to suggest for my favorite faction, the Leagues of Votann. So far, Weshammer is the only one to do the basics. So I recommend checking that out. The Leagues of Votann are a, relatively, new faction and so there isn’t much media to draw from. The leagues of Votann are my provincial favorite faction. They have everything I could love about a faction. Potentially. Unfortunately GW hasn’t done much with them beyond codecies. They have so much potential and capitalist space dwarves are just an awesome concept. They have the wonderful dichotomy of being the most diplomatic, potentially, and willing to establish friendly relations of all the factions. While simultaneously being the most petty, arguably, faction. Willing to wage war on ridiculous scales for the smallest slights. I don’t know if they officially have the “great book of grudges” that their fantasy counterparts do but they definitely have something similar. This allows them to be this, relatively, peaceful and industrious race of utilitarians and pragmatists but still have a very humorous but also grim dark reason to fight ANYONE on a level that defies conventional logic. The Leagues of Votann are actually the descendants of humans from terra during the golden age of humanity. The center of the galaxy, known as the galactic core, is the richest area of rare natural resources in the galaxy. Rare metals and ore specifically. The core is also extremely inhospitable to human life. Black holes and super novas are common place. Combines with galactic radiation and numerous other factors only the bravest or perhaps greediest explorers dared go into the galactic core. Those who survived and succeeded became unimaginably wealthy. Then the age of strife happened and those in the galactic core were cut off from terra and all support. This was extremely bad because the galactic core couldn’t sustain any agriculture of any substance. This lead the humans in the core to become extreme survivalists and utilitarian to a fault. This caused them to turn to genetic modification and eventually a form of cloning. They modified themselves to be shorter and more compact to save space. Their muscles and bones made denser and stronger. Their metabolism altered so they could survive on less food and water. This was aided by their massive STCs. The STCs allowed their group to start reclaiming every resource, including the dead, to become extremely efficient in their resource department. This is when the “kin” as they call themselves became their own “species”. This reclamation of the dead kin into the STCs became an integral part of the kin’s culture as every dead kin fed to the STC gave it their entire life’s accumulated knowledge. Thus, the STC was now called “Ancestor Core” or “Votann”. The Votann became something similar to a god to a kin. Not in a divine sense but in their position and the reverence of the kin. So large groups of Kin joined under the different Votann and formed the “Leagues of Votann”! There are many different Votann and as such makes up the variety within the Leagues. As such the Leagues are far closer to the level of the golden age of humanity than the imperium could ever dream of being. Their armor, weapons and equipment are, on average, far superior to most other races, barring the necrons. Most fascinating is their relationship with A.I. as the leagues view A.I. robots as equals, know as the “Iron Kin”. These two groups live in complete harmony and work together as, well, kin. The Votann, being STCs, are A.I. and have developed personalities and quirks of their own. This is kept as a highly secret fact from any other races, especially the imperium and double so for the mechanicus. To the point that if the Leagues deal with the imperium or the mechanicus they literally have the Iron Kin hide until they have left. As far as the imperium or mechanicus are concerned the Leagues are a xenos race that worship strange archaic gods and have decent tech. In fact most races aren’t aware of how technologically advanced the leagues are, as the leagues do trade with other races but only relatively low tech for the leagues as to not give any type of edge to their customers that might decide to become enemies.

22:00 no the titans and knights now are more animalistic and The Castigator-class Titan was also known as the father of titans
