If I had to recommend another video from this creator, I would highly recommend the Ogryn story or Angron

5:15 The Death Korps' Horsemen, known as Death Riders, have uses in the battlefield as both scouts and as shock troopers. A use they do so with great efficiency.
I understand the confusion given that this is a sci-fi setting with tanks and massive titans, but horses have are efficient in terms of logistics when a planet is barren of fuel or when resupplying them is impossible for their mechanized war machines.
The Death Riders can hold their own in a battle too cuz the horses from Krieg are more akin to bears as they are pumped up with drugs and bred with thicker skin and muscles so as to brush off some small arms fire and fight with the same fury and fearlessness as their riders who are armed with explosive tipped lances that can tear through armor and laspistols that they can expertly shoot an enemy's head off.

A few millenia ago, the governor of Krieg refused to pay the tithe and decided to seceded from the empire. The loyalists forces were beaten and when it became clear that they will have no reinforcement from the imperium they just nuked their own planet. As they prepared for it beforehand, they fared better than the traitors so after centuries of war they managed to retake control by themselves. However they considered their ancestors' rebellion against the imperium as an unforgivable sin, and now their only hope of redemption is to die fighting for the Emperor. Thast's the reason for their specialization in trench warfare and toxic environment, and their tendencies for suicidal tactics.
As for the custodes, they are not space marines at all: the space marines are mass produced by applying a genetic template to their existing genes and grafting some additional standardized organs as soon as their modified physiology can accept them. The custodes have their genes rewritten from a very young age, they are handmade and every one of them is a different masterwork piece of gene crafting. Maybe the modification is inspired by the Emperor's genetics, the exact process is not known, but there is no Emperor gene seed for them. The grey knights are suspected of having a special gene seed that comes from the emperor himself instead of a specific primarch, but there are contradicting theories about their creation.

The reference to being a traitor comes from a brutal civil war on their homeplanet, in wich the nobility started to think that the emperor isnt real and is a hoax to just rob the planet of its resources and they rather wanted the resources for themselfs.

8:53 yes, plague marines. If Im correct this is the moment from the siege of Vraks, a brutal 17 year long siege of a traitorous fortress. There is a wonderful animated series about this campaign made by Janovich, there are 19 episodes so far, each 15 - 30 min long. Its not ended yet though, there should be a couple more episodes at least, and by "animated" I mean mostly schematic representaion via maps, arts and heavily voiced narration. Really cool, but not sure if good for reaction, decide yourself, but for personal enjoyment this is a must. About kriegsmen, they are so badass they will charge melee because artillery shells are valuable, and they are not. They will see Emperor class titan, recieve command "fix bayonets" and will happily oblige. Their trademark is their casualities rate, they are fanatics yet effective ones, they are really ashamed by the very idea of retreating. And they are basically kids, clonned and sent into battle at 15 years old.

The death korps uniform is actually based on The German (stahlhelm), The French (Stylish Coat), and British (Wrapped Footwear). It's basically the combination of the 3 and not Germany alone.

There's a written description of the golden throne in a newer book... supported to be a mega structure going down dozens of lvs and spreading out.. generator after generator, any one of which would be capable of powering a small city!
It's supposed to contain technology from the dark age + zenos technology!

When krieg enter you know that the battle is going south they are one of the most brutal and willing to sacrafice everything for the emperor. Luetin09 has a good krieg video if you want to dive deeper in to them

10:20 The Death Korps of Krieg are not a Penal Legion. They are all volunteer soldiers who are literally born into being one given their planet became a literal nuclear hellscape in the aftermath of a centuries long rebellion by their government who wanted to secede from the Imperium of Man.
The Loyalists of the planet won this rebellion through desperation by nuking their entire planet which evened the odds by killed most of the rebels and retook the planet trench by trench, mountain by mountain, and city by city, in the course of over 500 yrs.
Victory came at the cost for the Loyalists who inherited a nuclear wasteland for a planet and deemed their planet's rebellion as a stain on their existence. Their only resource to provide the Imperium then were only soldiers in the millions and their means of atonement is fighting and dying for the God-Emperor. and they commit to both fanatically.

Warrior tier is great, so is A Vox in the Void, VitV has a great story called ‘I am - A servitor tale’ if you want to see the more horrifying side of the imperium.

If possible recommend Janovich video of the Krieg Civil War | Deathkorps of Krieg origins (animated Warhammer 40K Lore) For a more visual animated understanding. They also have other videos of wars and events.

Death Riders are very badass. Krieg horse is nothing like your regular horse, i've seen them lose their back half and still keep galloping. Also they use lances with explosive charges tied to a tip. That's why they work well in assaults as a substite for light armor, while also being cheaper to make and maintain. I suggest watching cinematics with kriegers

Krieg regiments are recognized as some of the best in the imperium and are always sent to high priority battle fields. Anything "common" regiments can handle aren't worth their use.

    Long one:
The majority of Krieg rebelled against the Imperium, and even tho the loyalist Krieg won in the end, they still carry the shame that their ancestors were traitors. It's kind of a play on how modern Germany feels shame about the Nazi past.
There's also another layer: while it is confirmed that Death Korps of Krieg are all clones (sent to war at the fine age of 15), it is also heavily implied in the novel "Krieg" that many if not all of them are clones of Colonel Jurten as well, the only high ranking officer who stayed loyal during Krieg's rebellion and was the man who nuked the planet when his few remaining forces were about to lose the civil war. He felt extreme guilt over his homeworld turning its back on the Imperium and viewed their sins as his own. On his death-bed, his closest thing to a friend, a Mechanicus Magos who had both fixed the nukes for him and had a pet project of cloning those horses (They couldn't make enough vehicles so he made gene-manipulated horses instead, they still use them as suicide troops against tanks using bomb-lances) , suggested he could clone soldiers as well to continue the fight against the surviving traitors and that Jurten was a prime candidate since he possessed the only natural will to sacrifice everything for victory (Jurten was brutal but selfless, he lived no better than the lowest private in his army, sent his only daughter on a suicide attack, etc). Jurten finally cracked and begged him not to do it but after he died the Magos pretended that Jurten had given him the green light.
500 years later, when the last traitors were rooted out from the radioactive hive ruins, the DKoK made contact with the Imperium (which had forgotten about them), the Imperial representatives where chocked when the DKoK reported that they not only had several regiments ready to serve but even requested to be sent to the most dangerous and deseperate front lines. Since then they've become such a vital source of soldiers (50,000,000 per year according to one source) that members of the Inqusition are looking the other way and even hiding the fact that Krieg is using forbidden cloning tech.
They're grimdark even for 40k, and I love 'em.

If you think about it man the reason why you see astartes with the Death Korp is because, well...if you need an astartes for a battle/mission/whatever its already pretty bad so in turn the Death Korp will be their aswell, they get the job done, also the Death Korp fights anything and everything.

Krieg used to be any other average Imperial world, then it's leaders tried to leave the Imperium, the Imperium, not willing to commit resources to retaking the planet, gave the small faction of loyalist insurgents the authority to do anything and everything they could to retake the planet. So the loyalists nuked the entire planet, evening the fight. Due to such low numbers, they resorted to utilizing near heretical dark age of technology cloning vats to sustain their numbers, and equip them with gas masks to fight on the now irradiated surface of their planet. After 500 years of grueling trench warfare, they won the war, and now, having no natural resources the Imperium can tithe, they send their clone soldiers en masse to fight countless battles in countless theaters of war across the galaxy, so thats why in art they can be seen fighting nearly everyone and fighting alongside many other Imperial forces. Each one is raised and indoctrinated with the belief that they've already failed the God-Emperor, their planet rebelled, their honor and glory lost, and the only possible way to make up a little bit for the sins they were born with is to bayonet charge Orks twice the size of a space marine.
Space marines r produced en masse, their creation having a template, Custodians aren't, each one is individually chosen because they have specific physical and mental characteristics. On top of that, each one is made a Custodian in their own way, tailored and brought up in very specifically individual ways

I know it’s not a popular take within the 40k creator space but I dislike Warrior Tiers videos. Mostly just his voice and repetitive cadence. (Edit: ok but that Custodies videos went fucking crazy.)
I HIGHLY recommend Chris Tester “Best Warhammer 40k quotes” part 1-5! Chris is a peerless voice actor and performer.
