WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY // PHOTO hide // The STOAT // TRAGOPAN hokki v3

This morning we got some red-breasted merganser just a few meters from the cabin. Suddenly a stoat showed up and attacked one merganser, but very fast jumped back into the old boat house. This morning we have seen this stoat several times and it looked like he has his hide in the boat house. The following night I spent more than 9 hours in my new photo hide, before I got this little fellow in front of my camera.

Mustelids are my favourite branch of the animal kingdom. Such speedy, lithe, tenacious and ruthless little killers.
You too showed great tenacity in waiting for it to appear. My particular favourite image is the one with the stoat centrally placed against the red boards of the boathouse (11:29).
