My Grandfather flew missions out of this airfield during 1944. He was Bombardier in the 452nd Bomb Group, 730th Bomb Squadron B-17G #42-39970. He made it home.
Small world williamlipscombii, my dad was also in the 730th Squadron at Deopham Green in 1944. My dad was a co-pilot and one of the planes my dad flew (his favorite) was #42-39970 -- that plane the "E-Rat-icator" also made it through the war. The plane was sent back to the United States and sold for scrape metal at Kingman, Arizona. On mission 166 (21 Nov 1944) my dad co-piloted the "E-Rat-Icator". I put together a little video and in it you will see your grandfather's B-17 ua-cam.com/video/bDAn-UT7mV4/v-deo.htmlsi=VPd3MgHPQ0f9cmWc
Was about to say is the haunting residual but if you heard a voice it must be an intelligent haunting. Seems a peaceful place all in all. Certainly a very beautiful place
Incredible place, I live local to Deopham Green and I go there a lot with my mate to go metal detecting although we’ve never had any paranormal experiences there.
I lived in Deopham in my teens and cycled through regularly to go fishing, heard the odd whispered story but never really paid much heed and being the typical teen just dismissed it.
Flown over here a couple of times over the last 10 years in a light aircraft and done a couple of ground visits too. Very nice memorial under some trees. Remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice for us. Not surprising there are stories of paranormal activity here. Viewed from 1000 feet the overall pattern is quite clear. John. FAI/BGA 51417. Thanks to the brave aviators of the past.
I was there very recently. I was enjoying the pleasant albeit windy stroll around the areauddenly the was a foul smell in the air. A few minutes later I heard an eerie presence muttered "not my wind." The only precences in the area were a massive pile of compost and a Wild Mary in the distance looking at her watch constantly and tapping her foot. Explain that one hey.

Thanks for watching and thank you to your grandfather for his service, hope he enjoyed Norfolk.

They probably Said : Hey I am right here .lol. Thanks for sharing .Have a great night
Possibly but we were walking along what was a taxiway so more like "watch your head" lol.
Cool place Sharpie 👍👍👍
Thanks Skully, it is, weirdly I'd forgotten about it being haunted till a video popped up a few months back.

It is rather pretty, permanently blowy though, cycling along that runway in a strong wind wasn't fun as a teen.
@@sharpiesfishandphantoms yea I bet, for once it was mother nature wind and not Sharpie wind lol
Yep good old natural wind lol.

Easy to spot where the runways were on Google but little else apart from a couple of spectacle hardstandings.
Its pretty much it now, same for a lot of the ww2 airfields round here, reclaimed either by nature or farmers.

Lol, the wild Mary was sat in the car muttering to herself at the time bud.
Thanks Sharpie
