If tom Thibs would of taken him out, as he should of, those injuries would most likely have never happened. If they did, it would of been after his first NBA championship that year with the Bulls. Because that team was built for a championship!
It was a privilege to watch Derrick Rose nearly every game when he was with the bulls. A lot of great memories that I'm always grateful for. It's crazy to think lebron and wade were both considering signing with the bulls before bosh signed with the heat. Imagine if they teamed up with Rose in Chicago they would have won several championships together.

I've never seen a player like him. He pushed his body to the limit that physics allowed. I guess in hindsight, it's not a surprise he succumbed to injuries. His movements were violent and other-worldly. Human bodies aren't supposed to move the way Derrick Rose moved. Once in a lifetime player. We only saw the surface of his potential. A guy whose "prime" was 22 years old and still an all-time great.
For all his crazy highlights, that layup is what really stuck with me the most, insane how he was able to convert that while being smothered by two very athletic dudes.
You can see how he got hurt. His whole game was built of explosion. I’m glad he changed his game and was able to carve out a career. I’m glad he’s gonna be with the knicks as well.
Can’t wait for the 30 for 30 on D Rose on what would have been if not for the injuries. The city with on fire for Rose and the whole NBA. Any city the bulls were playing in was basically semi home crowd. Everybody wanted to see him. Most explosive point guard ever. His trajectory was absolutely one of the best of all time.

This makes me want to cry. Rose was an incredible talent. He also would make statements, during press, that at some point, his body will give out on him - yet he was right, due to how acrobatic he was. He gave it his all and tried his best to win at least one ring before his body began to do the opposite of what he wanted. When Chicago Bulls GM got rid of him; this was truly heart-wrenching. They spat him out like they completely forgot what he put his body through for that entire city. But that's our country for you - everything is a business, yet impersonal.
Funny thing is… not only was it prime d rose, but it was prime Stacy king as an announcer. Definitely one of the best point guards ever. I saw all these moments live…

Take it easy. Landing wrong when you have a 42 inch vertical is more likely to hurt your legs than if your vert is "only" 35. All leapers are subject to leg injuries. You're making it way deeper than it is with the "pushed his human limits to the extreme". Pretty much every pro athlete is doing that.

I always shake my head when I hear Stephen A say that Westbrook is the most athletic point guard ever....Prime Derrick Rose was quicker and way more explosive than Westbrook
nope westbrook has multiple posters jumping from the dotted line, rose's only posters are of him jumping slightly before the restricted area, they both had the same vert despite wesbrook being 11 lbs heavier than rose (they weigh the same now but 10-11 rose was lighter. Also westbrook's 36 inch vert was recorded in 2008, and a new one was recorded to be above 40 in 2013. You can even calculate it by subtracting the height of an nba backboard from his height). Westbrook's most dunks in a season was 70, rose's wasn't even half of that. Also the most head to head posters rose got in a single season was 4 (maybe 5 depending on if you think the one on the pistons counted as a poster), while westbrook had 10-15 (again depends on how you define a "poster"). Rose was faster, but in terms of acceleration russ was superior. We can know this for sure by looking at how far they jumped before dunking as the same muscles are used. Westbrook's upper body athleticism is better for obvious reasons. So no rose wasn't more athletic. Tbh Rose probably would have been more athletic than russ and maybe even the best pg of all time (and assuming he improved at the same rate and never got injured, and was able to shoot 40% from three like he did in 2019), but if we are talking about peaks prime russ (16-17) is obviously more athletic and better than peak rose (10-11).

He had A.I.'s quickness with the handles, some of those Jordan's layups (tomahawking and changing ways), and a fierce drive to go through the enemy lines no matter who's the defender. So there’s a large amount of force pushing towards a single ligament when he hands (ex. landing on one leg in a lateral motion causing a tear in his LCL). And Rose was a quick and powerful player in a smaller body so the impact is more severe. You’re absolutely correct in ways to properly land and he could’ve avoided it if he was properly taught.

Rose before that devastating injury especially because of his style of play was one of the saddest moments in sports history for me personally. Not only because of me being a die hard bulls fan but because he was pre injury a player that was delivering on a nightly basis not just winning plays but also goosebump type of moves. Those who know….know. Incredible player. We didn’t witness his full potential and definitely would’ve been a multiple champion without the injury. D.Rose is one of the great "what ifs" in NBA history. The guy could have dominated the game in the mid 2010s. In today's league, Ja Morant reminds me the most of Rose. Similar physique, similar explosiveness. And Ja also has an insane repertoire of finishing moves.

It was just so perfect. Grew up in Chicago and got play for his professional team. The odds of just that happening are slim but he was also born with an amazing gift that he was able to hone to become one of the most unique players the nba has ever seen. Such a tragedy we never got to see what he could do as a leader of a great team. It was too good to be true.

Derrick Rose was extremely quick off the dribble. He was explosive. He was blowing past defenders and he was one of the most ferocious dunking point guards in the the NBA at that time. That two handed gorilla dunk he used to do was straight up nasty

Back in the days when I watched his games I knew he's gonna suffer from a lot of injuries. His movements, while lightning fast and flashy, put too much strain on his body. Joints, tendons, etc. From what I've known, among many people who play a similar game, only Russell Westbrook can manage to stay relatively healthy. That's some gift from the God not everybody can possess.
Difference is westbrook lands with his momentum and doesnt try to stop it deliberately with one foot. Rose always tried to stop his momentum with one foot like he's slamming the brake which put alot of strain on his knees and ankle when not landing with two feet.

Derrick Rose in his prime is legitimately God testing how far he can push it making basketball players before they technically have superpowers. He was the literal testing of physical human potential.
Most aesthetically pleasing player of all time during his prime. His basketball was like art. So explosive, yet so biomechanically fluid and precise in every move he makes.

This makes me want to cry. Rose was an incredible talent. He also would make statements, during press, that at some point, his body will give out on him - yet he was right, due to how acrobatic he was. He gave it his all and tried his best to win at least one ring before his body began to do the opposite of what he wanted.
When Chicago Bulls GM got rid of him; this was truly heart-wrenching. They spat him out like they completely forgot what he put his body through for that entire city. But that's our country for you - everything is a business, yet impersonal.

He was pushing his human limits to the extreme. It was nice to witness his greatness in that mvp season, but his body couldn't cope with what his mind wants. It put a huge strain on his health.
Take it easy. Landing wrong when you have a 42 inch vertical is more likely to hurt your legs than if your vert is "only" 35. All leapers are subject to leg injuries. You're making it way deeper than it is with the "pushed his human limits to the extreme". Pretty much every pro athlete is doing that.

nope westbrook has multiple posters jumping from the dotted line, rose's only posters are of him jumping slightly before the restricted area, they both had the same vert despite wesbrook being 11 lbs heavier than rose (they weigh the same now but 10-11 rose was lighter. Also westbrook's 36 inch vert was recorded in 2008, and a new one was recorded to be above 40 in 2013. You can even calculate it by subtracting the height of an nba backboard from his height). Westbrook's most dunks in a season was 70, rose's wasn't even half of that. Also the most head to head posters rose got in a single season was 4 (maybe 5 depending on if you think the one on the pistons counted as a poster), while westbrook had 10-15 (again depends on how you define a "poster"). Rose was faster, but in terms of acceleration russ was superior. We can know this for sure by looking at how far they jumped before dunking as the same muscles are used. Westbrook's upper body athleticism is better for obvious reasons. So no rose wasn't more athletic. Tbh Rose probably would have been more athletic than russ and maybe even the best pg of all time (and assuming he improved at the same rate and never got injured, and was able to shoot 40% from three like he did in 2019), but if we are talking about peaks prime russ (16-17) is obviously more athletic and better than peak rose (10-11).

Exactly. You’ll notice he usually lands on one leg after a play with high speed and momentum. So there’s a large amount of force pushing towards a single ligament when he hands (ex. landing on one leg in a lateral motion causing a tear in his LCL). And Rose was a quick and powerful player in a smaller body so the impact is more severe.

Rose before that devastating injury especially because of his style of play was one of the saddest moments in sports history for me personally. Not only because of me being a die hard bulls fan but because he was pre injury a player that was delivering on a nightly basis not just winning plays but also goosebump type of moves. Those who know….know. Incredible player. We didn’t witness his full potential and definitely would’ve been a multiple champion without the injury. It hurts to this day and probably for the rest of my life. He is from Chitown he was our savior as a fan base. People need to understand the lingering effect that Jordan left. Bulls nation is HUGE! He came in and gave those millions and millions of fans joy, hope and excitement and a true possibility of rings and just to go down like that. Tragic. He’s alive, well and happy but a part of bulls fans and himself died that day he got injured.

I LOVED the chemistry him and Noah had. Noah had a lot of faith in him. Noah felt like he was Neo "The One" who was gonna bring them to the championship.
It was just so perfect. Grew up in Chicago and got play for his professional team. The odds of just that happening are slim but he was also born with an amazing gift that he was able to hone to become one of the most unique players the nba has ever seen. Such a tragedy we never got to see what he could do as a leader of a great team. It was too good to be true.
Almost feels like he was a super-human at that point. I've never seen a man move like that. There is no one comparable to him. He is not one of the generation type of guy, he is one of the century type of guy.

Back in the days when I watched his games I knew he's gonna suffer from a lot of injuries.
His movements, while lightning fast and flashy, put too much strain on his body. Joints, tendons, etc.
From what I've known, among many people who play a similar game, only Russell Westbrook can manage to stay relatively healthy. That's some gift from the God not everybody can possess.
Difference is westbrook lands with his momentum and doesnt try to stop it deliberately with one foot. Rose always tried to stop his momentum with one foot like he's slamming the brake which put alot of strain on his knees and ankle when not landing with two feet.
There’s alot of people today saying this was roses prime and calling this version of rose his peak . Those people are all wrong. we never got to see this dude’s peak or prime he was only 22 the knee injuries robbed the whole basketball world of what was to come of drose . One of the hardest things that will be hard for any player in the league is breaking drose accomplishment for youngest mvp 10 years later nobody hasn’t broken it yet . Thats how special drose was
drose abuses his body too much, so many awkward landings in almost every drive that’s why his knees gave up so early it’s his fault on what he have become today...these people kept saying what if there was a prime drose lol bruhhh there’s no chance of him getting into his prime at that time because he’s abusive on his knees and body..look at all of his highlights most of them had an very awkward landing and don’t ever think that a player doing like that every play would not get injured but if you are a gifted player like lebron maybe not🤣
@@raull8087 despite all that shit rose to this day still putting it all out on the floor still managed retain some of his athleticism while playing smart that is what you call skill. Him doing most of this now symbolizes how even though he was athletic still found a way to hone in on his true skills

Derrick Rose in his prime is legitimately God testing how far he can push it making basketball players before they technically have superpowers. He was the literal testing of physical human potential.
Most aesthetically pleasing player of all time during his prime. His basketball was like art. So explosive, yet so biomechanically fluid and precise in every move he makes.
Brandon Roy was pretty unguardable before injury as well.
Dude did everything with full effort.
I remember at the time Kobe saying he was one of the hardest to guard in West.
Derrick was approaching GOAT talk and if it wasn’t for his injuries and strange behavior, we might me talking about him in the GOAT conversion. I have never seen anyone faster than him.

@@gilbertjohnson3622 Dude I’m 52 years old. Been to 255 bulls games during the Jordan era. Been to finals games, Scotties charity game, the Windy City classic, yada yada yada. Derrick, if he never got injured, would be in Goat talk today. The guy was so athletic. Yes MJ was extremely fast in person but Rose was nuts.
