  • Miracle is our new horse we bought at auction. She is a registered MFT untrained 2 year old
    filly. In this video I start to work with her for the first time, getting her use to round pen work all the way to putting a saddle on for the first time.
    Follow along to see her progress! And don’t forget to check out her auction video and bringing home video!

    She seems to be slipping a bit on that footing. I think that’s why she was hesitant to go faster. I think she IS a miracle. Thanks for helping her. What a lovely girl.

    Beautiful Miracle. She learned so much so quickly but you can see her calming down from the beginning to the end of the video, IMO. You know your horse psychology, I think.

    Please accept this as a MASSIVE Compliment. I just realized that all the videos I've been watching of you and your family, from beginnings to shows, remind me of a Wonderful Teacher - Mr. Rogers!! Your demeanor and wisdom applied to each individual horse is a true pleasure to watch. Seeing your kids participate with your endeavors is, IMHO, an example of biblical living. Thank you! It's pretty cool. BTW, I don't get to watch all the time because I'm OTR, but I do when I have extra time before/after loads.

    She has such a gorgeous head!! I am delighted that you are using Monty Roberts....He is just incredible, really can do miracles. She is limping on her right front, maybe when your able to do feet she just needs to be leveled. Gosh she is pretty. I have become a MFT lover. I never imagined they had such great conformation, and heads...I can hardly wait to see your babies from faith and the other one (forgot her name,,,,starts with a C I believe. So beautiful and awesome.❤ Loving your work with Oliver. Such a blessing for him to receive the love, care and respect he deserves. He's too young to have been abused by previous owner. They should receive similar treatment to show them what they're doing, hopefully to turn them around. God gave us dominion, not to be cruel and heartless. Do you think a slightly larger round pen would help her be less likely to slip, since she’d not need to turn quite as hard? Or is there some other reason that she lacks traction? It makes me tense when I see her slipping in the ring. 😊 I don’t want her to fall down.

  • @karinlotz5732
    @karinlotz5732 Рік тому +4

    You did a good job working with her.
    But one thing I have to mention is: it is not very good,working horses on concrete, you should put a better bedding on the grund of your rund pen.

    • @homesteadhorsemanship
      @homesteadhorsemanship  Рік тому +7

      No, it’s a dirt floor. Just compacted. The floor is not my favorite either it’s just what we have to work with right now. You have to remember we are in a gaint echoing barn also so the footsteps sound louder then what they are. Our plan is to get sand there someday.

    This filly is very pretty and her head says all day that she is a LADY! Not being a know it all or anything, but parts of the round pen are very slippery, she noticed that herself from the get go, so why not put down some sand or dirt or something for better footing....sure would set her back on her pretty good behavior if her feet go out from under her and she crashed on her side. Is is concrete under the whatever is in that pen?

      @@homesteadhorsemanship Ok that's a relief for her. In Europe we don't have gaited horses, this horse would be considered to have very severe ataxia. We look for three pure gaits with clear four hoof beats in walk, two in trot and generally three in canter. I'm guessing it might be extremely difficult diagnosing true ataxia in a young gaited horse without the pure trot as the base line. She's very pretty and feminine, as a mare should be.
