    You should refer to the Owl as The Warden. He's one of the primary reasons those ducks get locked up at night, not to mention he seems favorable to where Bonnie and Clyde will be staying.

    For the extra logs maybe build 1 or 2 small rafts 3'x3' and then anchor them to the bottom. It will give birds a place to land on the pond and give fish and other aqua life a place for shade and to hide.

    Best series on UA-cam! Every Sunday night, got earbuds in, phone charged, putting one of 2 kids to sleep and enjoying the hell out of this. Growing up we had a 2 acre pond full of bass, blues, big cats, few large crappie and a pet goose. Skated on during the winter, fishing bets with brothers and dad after a summer dinner and took out several muskrats each year with a 12 ga because they would destroy the banks. Prior to moving to the south, I put a red devil cichlid from our tank in the pond, I laughed when I revisited friends in the area and the family that now lives there said they caught a big orange fish…can’t believe it survived 2 years after throwing him in there. Thanks for sharing this great experience as I’m sure your entire family will enjoy it for years to come!

    Have you thought about planting vegetation in the pond for water clarity/filtration? There’s some plants that help with producing oxygen, stopping algae blooms and even toxins in the water. I know one big problem happened when Kelly Slater the surfer built a similar but larger pond for his wave machine and had bacteria problems.

    • @philcombs7020
      @philcombs7020 2 роки тому +9

      Adding reeds like bullrush is used for filtration a lot over here in the uk and barley straw that releases a natural peroxide ( it releases slowly over months and doesnt harm the fish) and helps keep algae down...I should imagine you would need a fair number of bales for a pond that big and beautiful though..

    • @crazyshot97
      @crazyshot97 2 роки тому +11

      I was thinking that too. I would assume that in a pond this large, aquatic plants will naturally find their way into the system and populate

Also, have you thought about using shrubs for erosion control? Like planting some a few (5-15) yards back from the edge of the pond in the highest erosion zones.

    • @lukedorey
      @lukedorey 2 роки тому +1

      @@xTYBOx it would depend on the size and medium of the aquifer. As it is sand and probably connects to a large table he shouldn't notice a difference. However it is a wast when he could be used for irrigation especially when it is the dry season there

    • @Inspectorzinn2
      @Inspectorzinn2 2 роки тому +1

      Given the well is only 150ft down, I doubt it will have any impact. In AZ wells are thousands of feet deep (3,000 - 5,000 ft) and aquifer depletion is a big issue. The deeper the aquifer the longer it takes to recharge.

    You could use the waterline pipe that you are using to fill the pond with as a part of a circulation system to help keep the pond aerated. Hook up an intake from the shallow end and have a shutoff valve coming from the well to the joint at the circulation pump so you can still use the well to fill if needed and also have a circulation system without adding much to the system already in place.
