Building a giant pond is much better than buying an EV or even being a vegan. This channel is a gift. Thank you for sharing your work.
@@al-aeynani TBH, every1. Its just time, how much time u need to get money to do it.
It's 2023 let them be vegan all they want. It's not our business
@@letmesay2035 There are literally billions of people who don't have their own garden. But yes you are right if you have a big garden it doesn't take huge effort to make a small pond.
@@mradventurer8104 Vegans do not help animals, they also destroy nature, as plants can also express feelings, and if vegans never knew about this study, then they are hypocrite and will continue ignoring its existence... the fact is, if they do not want eat animals, they should respect plants as well, and of course, the only way to help nature, is stop existing....
@@al-aeynani yes that's true but there is so much land all over America and the world that isn't being utilized for anything. Imagine if governments actually spent their money building ponds, reservoirs and grew forest? Instead of patting themselves on the back for giving EV tax credits which ironically pollutes the planet more because building more anything usually pollutes the planet.
This pond build is clear evidence that building something natural and self sustaining is far more valuable for people and wildlife.
Planting a tree at your home and growing your own food if you have a backyard is good enough.
You guys should try to plant some native flowers/plants/grasses! It also would be beneficial to plant some butterfly attractors, like milkweed, or others native to your area. Amazing job so far!
Agreed! Wildflowers will attract insects and birds
Yep, agree with this.
I only plant native plants in my wildlife garden. I find the natives attract more wildlife.
The birds will do that for then all by themselves
or add a bee hive or two.
Your deer/coyote footage reminds me of the unexpected results of reintroducing wolves to Yellowstone. They found that the riparian corridors started to grow back much faster than the population decline in the grazers would have predicted. After some study, they realized that the deer and elk would just graze without a threat, but if wolves were merely in the area they would spend a considerable amount of time with their heads up, watching the wolves, and not eating. This gave the brush and grasses a chance to grow and put on the toughened shoots and branches that grazers don't like.
That's because the Gray Wolf is a Keystone Species.
Without predation, another critical Keystone Species, beavers, habitat was eaten and trampled by undulates.
So the loss of TWO Keystone Species changed the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem in ways that it could no longer support many of the other native species to the area.
I am surprised they were surprised by this. The ecosystem needs top predators. If they aren't any, then the animals will just eat all the bushes and grass... An ecosystem is balanced and needs all animals.
@Juliet Van Rensburg the surprise was the degree to which the browsing was affected. They had predicted that browsing would be reduced proportionally with the reduction of herbivore population. They found that individual surviving herbivores ate significantly less than than they would have without the presence of wolves. It was an important finding, because one of the arguments against reintroduction of wolves was to point out that they wouldn't really eat that many deer and elk and would, therefore have little effect on the health of the riparian corridors.
@@jscarborough9928 Thanks for more info:)
It's more so that they spend less time grazing in one area with predators around, they keep moving. It's not that they spend more time with their heads up
I’m in the UK. A year ago, I built a small pond 2.3 x 3m. In my garden. I was staggered at the amount of wildlife that visited the pond. Imo, THE best way to attract wildlife is to provide a water source. The pond is a wildlife pond with no fish as I only wanted to attract insects and amphibians. However much more was attracted. I live in a medium size town in Hertfordshire UK. Great video btw.
i build 3 years ago 4m x 6m with max dept 2m the rest 1,5 m but with water is only 1,5 m covered, and after i planted some water plants i put crucian carp, they even grow bigger and also multiply each year, time to time i fish for fun, no pumps no nothing only food and time to time i add more watter because evaporates
@formicapple2 I agree, im out in Southern California where they complain about drought every year but if everyone dug a small pond it would be a huge resource just as back up water for plants and animals. In India they are doing tons of permaculture water projects to reverse desertification and ponds are one of the most common. Every year when we get crazy rains I just watch all that fresh water flow out to the ocean from where I live near the port, its disgusting how much just flows right out. Our modern society isnt conditioned to think about conservation and natural balance, especially if you live in a city or urban environment.
It's as if water is the source of all life!
And when we needed him most, he returned
😅
Thought you was gone say he vanished 🤣🤣🤣
Usual BS copy cat comment. Please be sincere and unique
I barely talked about a video a few hours before he posted.
@@mattk2740 certainly not unique but you can not speak to the sincerity of the statement. Maybe he's had a rough week and this was the break he needed. Get outta here with that negative 🤣
I wish this was economically feasible for more farmers to do. This is such a help to the local wildlife to have an oasis like this. I understand why most farmers cannot do this but its a great show of how you can protect the environment and still have plenty of farmland.
it really has very little to do with farming. And introducing pests (wildlife) isn't good if you want the crops to go to humans, and hence, make money.
As long as you don't use pesticides.
@@ranonampangom2185 ... you are not a very good farmer
Farmers dont want a bunch of sh*t eating their crops unless of course they are making money off of filming it.
@@PLF... did you not see the coyotes and owls getting rid of pest mice in the field or?
The fact that all 10 baby ducks survived to maturity is a testament to the great pond you’ve built. They had enough resources to live and grow and do so safely. Great work! I wish more people took this same approach instead of always pushing wildlife to the edge with nowhere to survive. Does have the ability to self abort if the area becomes hostile, dangerous, or resources become scarce. As an act of self preservation, they self abort until next mating season. Having 3 fawns mean resources exceeded plentiful and the environment was as good as it gets if she birthed 3 babies.
The fact that 10 baby ducks survived to maturity is a freaking miracle considering they're living amongst owls and eagles... I think the pond owner is trying too hard to be inclusive.
@@oldgoatroper7030Exactly. The moment I saw baby ducks and foxes and eagles, I thought "they are getting a snack"
Those two birds were a pair of cardinals! The males (red) is feeding the female! Its an adorable show of affection!
Always enjoy your videos and all the wildlife you come across. looking forward to doing my own pond build one day
Aye AnG! You and me both man. I'm trying to have an arsenal like you one day
Boom digity!
Well I wojld like to wish you best of luck. Ohh and I hope you got lot's of mooola. Lol Because I think our amazing uploader, my favorite hands down, is heading towards 2 million now. From what I see though I would have to believe he would say it's been worth every penny. I have been here from dam near day one and I have enjoyed every single min this man and his family has uploaded. This is one amazing family 👪 and I wish them health and happiness and I hope your sir get your dream as they have. God bless you all.
Holy Moly it's AnG!!!!!
if you want that wildlife to stay you cannot your fertilizers on your lawn. it'll run into the water and creat algae bloums from the excess of nutrients. this will kill everything in the water
What a joy this pond build has become to watch.
That’s a lot of manure bt j fr chande Benja
I don't know why this made me so emotional, but maybe it's just how intent you were on doing this FOR the wildlife. All that land and you chose to give it a greater purpose. It makes my heart full knowing there are people out there who take their own talents and resources and give back. This is just incredible and I wish I could visit and befriend some baby deer!
A practical example of "Water, the source of life"
You know it's going to be a good week when you get to watch a pond update.
ALWAYS! haha I love these videos so much
@@JasonJebezSam I was getting desperate. Going through withdrawls. About ready start watching reruns. LOL
It's every 2 weeks. Chill
This has been one of my favorite series of any UA-cam channel by far, Thanks for letting us all into your world!
Same!!
Same here! I clicked on this channel right at the very beginning simply by accident. After that I couldn't wait for the next episode.
Such a great series and love how you are encouraging wild life, and such an ecosystem.
I’m sure it’s been answered but what night vision cameras do you use?
Maybe you like Leon the lobster also on yt
It's such a noble thing to watch
I love that instead of trying to chase away the wildlife you guys embraced it and even made a safe eco system for them.
Dust baths are really good for birds for a variety of reasons, you should consider adding a section near the pond for birds to take dust baths! It wouldn't need to be big. I've seen people use sand but would recommend researching it a little because my knowledge is limited.
You should add some sand patches for the owls and other birds to bathe in, they'll be so happy :)
You could also plant native plants and grasses to fill in space, it'll create habitat and a good food source for a variety of wildlife like birds, mammals, and a lot of different beneficial insects. You can collect wild seeds or see if your county has seed workshops or other enthusiasts that could help you out with this and keep the costs down.
If you have the budget- look into creating a snake hibernaculum as well. Great work, very interesting to see all these animal clips.
Cheers
I think based on the heavy machines used and dump tractors that he's not hard up for money
Reeds on the edges of the pond would do wonders for biodiversity
It would be a very good idea to consult a local biologist/conservationalist for what to plant to boost the local biodiversity system. :)
Knowing what to plant and what to arrange can create a self effeicent system the animals can work with.
@@j.ballsdeep420 Right? This guy's gotta be pretty loaded, a build like this is easily tens of thousands.
Definitely need some aquatic life. Fish, frogs, crawdads, snails, even mosquitos. That would round it out nicely and attract dragonflies & bats. Then you have a goddamn ecosystem my friend.
I just want to let you know that it’s my 2nd night home from the ICU. I’m a 48 year old Texas A&M boy who’s life was just turned upside down and inside out being diagnosed with heart failure. I still don’t think I’ve grasped the situation.
One thing I am thoroughly more aware and mindful of are the things that bring me joy over stress. Finding your channel and waiting for the next video is something I truly enjoy and hope others find it like I did so they can enjoy it too.
I’m stuck in KC currently (obligated to say..how bout them…Chiefs….for my niece’s & nephew haha) but as soon as I’ve spoken to my Dr here, I’m heading home to Florida. Can’t wait to get my boat out of storage and soak up some wildlife. Maybe bring a few poles, but it won’t really matter by then. Perhaps I’ll make my way thru Alabama just to catch a glimpse of one of George Jones cousins. Sorry to go on so long, just trying to make sure that people who’ve touched me know so. Your channel has brought back memories from growing up in TX and what Family and Friends used to do before we all got so busy somehow. May you continue to have a blessed life on your property because I’m positive it’s made a difference in many other peoples lives. Gig’ em Aggies!!! Whoop!!
My life goal is to have a ranch and build multiple ponds on it, a tx boys dream haha. Reminds me of growing up and messing around all weekend at my grandpas farm just doing whatever. It always sucked having to go back home to Dallas where life just moves too fast for me. Watching these videos has been such a joy, hopefully one day I’ll be making some for others!
Hey there! I grew up in Cstat and I also love this channel. I’m so sorry to hear about your recent medical situation. I hope you get home safely to Florida and the warmest wishes for your recovery. ❤
Make sure you’re up to date on your booster shots.
Unless I win the lottery, I will never have the money or the land to do something like this myself. Many thanks for sharing this fabulous pond with me and the rest of the world. Your filming and narration is excellent.
Dreams are what you are living! Love it, beautiful narration
As a wildlife photographer youve built my dream setup. Really good job.
If you havent you may want to add a few large branches to eagle nest to encourage them to build on it
If we give nature just a little room, it’s amazing how we can flourish together. Wonderful conservation effort! Applaud you. Even if it may have started out a different idea, to see you loving and nurturing what it’s become is just wonderful!
"A little room" dude thats a 5 acre pond supported by like 15 acres of varied crops specifically for them and then also and unknown amount of wild area behind the pond. This isn't a realistic representation of a natural environment, its completely engineered to be a habitable as possible. People have no idea what the natural world is.
Nothing more satisfying than, giving back to nature, that was taken from this wildlife in the first place. My respect to you folks👍 Well done👍
What a beautiful and brilliant idea to grow crops MEANT for the animals!! They’ll tend it the selves and they’ll stay away from yours for the most part! Love from Virginia 💜
You are such a benevolent advocate for all of nature's creatures. This has been so enjoyable to watch. Thank you for your efforts!
indubitably
i would argue differrent if id have been one of the thousands of bass he caught lol
but i do really like his kindness to wildlife
You know it’s a good day when we get a pond update🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for giving these animals a great space ❤
This is what dreams are made of. Keep living your best life brother
Love it! Please get a paper back bird book and circle the birds that you see on the property. You will really enjoy doing that over the years. Also when someone stays overnight in the guest house, get a guest book for them to sign. My Grandparents did that for years and years. We can look back in it and see when we visited when we were kids. I'm 63 now and everybody but my sisters have passed away. That guestbook means a lot to us. They called their little guest house "The Cold Potato ." Visiting them in the mountains was such a joy that is just a memory now.
This used to be my dream…to own some land and do exactly what you are doing… never panned out…and that’s ok cuz here you are living my dream and I can enjoy it,without the hard work!!! I love your voice as you narrate, so soothing and calm…and watching your videos is my favorite thing to do…and of course many many others too… thank you so much, I never grow tired and it never gets old…so awesome…may it last 🙏🏼♥️👍🏽♥️🙏🏼
What a fantastic video. I really enjoyed how much you liked the critters enough to name them and follow their journeys and didn't interfere in the natural why they go about their lives.
Wow, it’s so interesting all the different wildlife you can find in one area in America! In New Zealand the only native mammal we have are bats and while we’ve obviously introduced a lot of new animals, there are a lot that have purposely not been introduced. Do this in New Zealand and you’d mostly just see birds lol.
Wow!!! This is Amazing. You've basically created a national geographic show in your field.
This is truly a gift.
this is like a sanctuary for all kinds of wildlife, more than just a pond. I love everything about it and im looking forward to all your future videos
This is just beautiful. 2 years ago we had a Family project like this in Suriname. A Swamp we could not use dug out to get 2 waterponds and get some dry land. 2 hectares. 3 machines 6 weeks digging. Now we have clean Water to swim, Cayman, Anaconda, Capibara, Monkeys have come, flocks of parrots, colibris, birdlive, Fish, We planted 3 Kankantrie Trees. The biggest Trees in Suriname. They Grow 70 meters High. Thank you for this video.
You swim in the water with anacondas in it? Respect to you, I would be too scared haha
@@pascald67 Yess. I love the Family Project. Tell about our Cayman Anaconda Capibara Monkeys Parrots Colibris. Everybody afraid. 😀. For info. You can Google. Jaguar in Curaçaoweg. Suriname. Pictures and Story.
Love all the creatures that are now making the pond part of their habitat. Great job. Also your night sky is very beautiful, I would love to see more of that, no light pollution. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing video
Go dive in it 😂
a pond or lake really opens up the area to a variety of life. it really encourages animals to move in to an area once they start finding it.
This is it. Symbiosis with nature, sharing the same space and providing for each other. Thanks for this video, it touched me deeply.
I wish I was able to be out at your pond. I would love to be in a blind by the pond to looking and taking pictures of the ducks and other animals that was out around the pond.
I love wildlife.
God Bless
It's so wholesome when 'unexpected' guests come and you don't try to chase them away because they damage the crops 🥺 If you think about it, it is very human-centric to consider some animals pests. And seeing you willing to give part of your land back to the animals warms my heart.
Yes, you are so cute👍. Love you guys❤️
Animals literally starve to death in bulks because some random species appear in their life one day and destroy their source of food or water, "human centric" think before you speak clown
Wow. I can't believe I have been watching this for a year. I feel so emotionally invested in it, I could only imagine how you feel about it. Anyway Hello from Australia. Keep up the good work.
Such an incredibly fulfilling and relaxing project. I can only imagine the effort (and not to mention the money) you have spent on this. Very cool sir. Hats off to ya!!
I am so happy to have seen this! I dream of having the space to put in a pond; to see you've put so much thought into how your pond will work for the animals is truely impressive❤ I live in a coastal area that is rapidly becoming heavily populated and I see the loss of so much natural habitat. I can't understand why our local governments aren't expected to reinstate or to create new planting and water source areas. I would like to think that neighboring properties in your area are following suit at least ..well done🎉🎉
I love that you did this and it helps bring animals back around and helps the ecosystem. Are you planning on planting native grasses by the edges to actually help prevent erosion? Sod is a quick fix but mowed grass roots doesn't grow very long because they spend so much of their energy regrowing the leaves instead of making the roots longer. Plants by the waters edge will benefit from the added phosphates
To crazy I started watching you when you built the first backyard pond and now it has already been a year of the beautiful habitat you have built for all walks of life. Truly is inspirational all the work you have done.
I love the idea of people building small conservation areas like this. It's unrealistic to expect even small-scale "deindustrialization" of developed countries, so this may be the best we get. Great stuff!
Been here since day one pond build, love to see the progress and the wildlife ! Love to see what y’all have done and would love to come see it if you’re ever up for it ! God bless you and your family and after all this time I wasn’t subscribed until now!
Perfect to watch instead of half time
The content of this channel is therapeutic. The outdoor aquarium and zoo, full moon time lapses, croaking frogs and George Jones are my favorites. I imagine since the environment is resource abundant, none of the animals are put into hyper survival mode and this is why they get along so well. As if I’m watching a balanced, living utopia, nothing synthetic, just a rearrangement of existing materials. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much for sharing your lovely pond, such a pleasure to see the night life! 😁
Enjoyed watching your video. Look forward to seeing the established trees. Love how you have made food sources for the animals. 😍🥰
Wow!!! A year already??!!!! I love the pond but I must say... the variety of wildlife that it has attracted is amazing!! This is proof positive that "If you build it, they will come!!!" And your cabin is beautiful.... I could make my home there and rarely go into civilization.....
I can’t scream I absolutely LOVE this loud enough!! Thank you for doing this. I’m a huge animal and nature lover..
Thank you for sharing all your videos! It is so interesting to see!
I’m just discovering your channel. I absolutely love the 5 acre pond. It’s truly a dream property! Love all the animals!
The life your ponds irradiate is so interesting with all the diverse amount of wildlife creating such fascinating interactions.
One update I think would be helpful for those birds living on those tall posts you built for them, is to cover the bottom of them with pvc tubes, so that cats can't climb up on them and loot their nests.
This was very beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing!
What a great, wonderful thing you've done in building that pond! Congratulations!!!
Just wanted to say thanks for all the time and effort you’ve put into filming everything. I’m in the process of building my pond and all my ideas have came from this channel.
Thanks for a wonderful year! Long may it continue
No idea why your video was recommended to me by UA-cam, but *GLAD IT WAS - such a delightful pond with wildlife!* Thanks so much for your wonderful video, but mostly for creating this gorgeous habitat for your local fauna. *Keep up the great work!*

Salute from the jungles of Africa ❤ Chad to be more specific 🙏🏽
Watched from beginning to end! This was so wholesome to watch, gives me hope in humanity.
Congratulations on your accomplishments so far, cheers to the milestone.
This was so beautiful watching.. thank you for sharing this
Your laughings make me touch your happiness. Feel so good. Love to build one in the future.
Amazing what you guys have accomplished , you must have a true pride in what you have done for the wildlife in your area,
I have loved this series from the start. I can not believe all of the wildlife that you have on your farm.
What a great documentation of this pond from idea to a mature wildlife refuge.
I especially enjoyed the sunrise add the end of the video, how it rises above the pond with a little fog. So beautiful!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING! This was sooo much fun to watch! My face never stopped smiling ! Creation is such a blessing! Looking forward to more recordings and your narration! Greatly appreciate this treat!
Man, you're a gem ! Seen one or two of your videos where you had built a smaller pond i believe.
Incredible how you put one step towards nature and it returns your love and caring by taking 10
steps towards you. Hats off ! This is more fun and rewarding to watch than the evening news is.
Man I just love watching your videos. It's so cool to see how the wildlife interact with each other. Thats something you just don't get to see. I love how you make habitats for all the different animals to have their own place. It's like the animals strolled upon a fortress for them to live at.Keep up the great content and can't wait to see more.
Unbelievable. I could watch this video over and over again. Thank you so much for sharing. I would love to be part of a project like this and spend countless hours watching the wild life. I own few acres in Oklahoma and I'm thinking about adding a small pond to it. Thank you so much for the inspiration.
I'm so jealous by the variety of species you have on your pond. You've inspired me even more to renovate our farm pond, although nowhere near as big as yours!
Always love tuning in to see how this is going. Another tree you could consider adding are pecan trees, they should do really well in your climate but will take a long time to mature. I can't imagine what this place will look like in another 20 years with everything grown up, keep it up!
I have enjoyed every moment of every video, I truly believe I could be totally happy watching the pond and its wildlife for hours on end! Thank you so much for sharing! GOD bless!
Really Awesome. Thanks for sharing your experience and keep up the good work.
Thank you for caring about all the wildlife and creating habitat for them to flourish, and for taking the trouble to share with your viewers.
You should put in a couple of trees that can grow over the pond a bit, and some shrubby area, I think it would do a lot for the bio diversity.
EDIT: I should have waited for the end.
Oh wow! I was so happy to come back to your series and see all the latest development. Im happy that someone out there is living my dream, and rather than feel envy, i feel so bless that I`ve such good learning material for when and if I manage to pull something like this off, I know right off the bat what to start with and what to expect. So thank you sir and enjoy your piece of heaven, I know I am!!
GLAD YOU ARE DOING THIS- IT HELPS THE PLANET
OMG that fox squirrel is huge!
I absolutely love the journey so far and the development, more over I love how much you take care of the wild life.
ALWAYS an amazing video! I've been watching since before the backyard pond! Definitely my favorite channel! Thank you guys for all the hard work and also sharing part of your lives with us! God bless!🙏🙏
Thank you for helping all those wonderful lives. It's so much needed in this world.
Incredible job! I'm glad that you had the resources to accomplish this build.
This has been great to watch the project come together! thank you for sharing this experience with us
Watching your pond videos is so relaxing. it's kinda the same feeling you used to get from watching Discovery/National Geographic 🙂Been watching since just before you guy's started filling the pond, and i am still enjoying every minute of it. Thx for sharing this with us. Wish all the best for you and yours.
Full respect and thank you.
I love watching these videos so much they bring so much peace and happiness watching all the little woodland critters do what they do I bet that’s an awesome place you guys have out there
Thanks for the video, I have really enjoyed watching it all come together. Love watching the interaction between all the different Wildlife.
Awesome vid sir, It's really cool to see the transformation over time from building it and filling it to adding the birdhouses and crops to bring in wildlife!
Isn't it amazing how when you let nature do it's own thing, within reason, that it often manages to balance itself out?
Well done Sir.
THANK YOU FOR SHARING, this is fantastic, how beautiful to provide animal life with a well-deserved sanctuary. ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. Fingers crossed others across the world in every Country on earth follow your wonderful example 👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻❤️🙋🏻♀️🇦🇺
What a joy to watch all the animals! Thank you for creating a habitat for them. And thank you for the video and narration!
Seriously one of the coolest videos I have ever seen. I applaud your efforts to create this pond and stock food sources. Well done!
It's so awesome just sitting there and watching all the wildlife interact. If I had something similar I'd probably spend hours just observing from a distance.
What a wonderful initiative and great how it turned out, the abundance of wildlife, wow! And you captured it very well, also with the night camera's and timelapse, just super!
