KIA ORANA! I don't know who is thumbs downing this video but they must be crazy. This was put simply even I can follow along, the movements of her body and her instructions were clear and to the point! Beautifully done! Thank you!
Thank you for this nice detailed explanation. Each movement has its different techniques. I have a lot of difficulty with the movements of Afata, but I know that it only takes practice to understand it well. So I practice. Thank you so much👍🥰🇨🇦
I did a hula workshop once and I've been a semi-professional belly dancer for 10 years. But I found out about ori tahiti only recently and want to give it a try. I like how hip centered the dance is.
emily tio there is no trick, just practice and practice and practice. Always relax your back and move in circles from your abs. Stretch your psoas+hip muscles before and after your practice, this will ease your movement
emily tio Bend your knees so that your hips can move freely. Use your knees together with your pelvis/stomach. A proper Fa’arapu is not full by pushing your hips out, or using your bum. It should be wide by lowering your knees and using your stomach. Don’t bend too much, and don’t stand up straight. Just find that sweet-spot that works for you. You will feel it when you do it right😘
Hello! Could you help me? I am opening Tahitian dance and I still can not find the meaning of each movement of the Aparima hands, could you help me by saying what are the movements of the hands and their meaning please?
Hi! I understand that, in the hands movement, there's no official "code", you just got to interpretate them. There are many ways to express an idea, and each choreographer do it like they most like it. Creativity is also important. I hope I helped you
Taylor TLAT Lol how is the grass muddy? And who does Ori in slippers unless the ground/stage is too hot? No! Traditionally they would dance in sand or on grass.
Dahlia AL That’s kinda racist and predjudice of you to say. She’s fully Tahitian, but her mom’s side hail from Pitcairn. Which is famous due to the mutineers on the Bounty. They fled to Pitcairn with some Tahitian men and women. Their decendants are of British and Tahitian ancestry. Many Tahitians in general are mixed. Does it really matter how she looks? She’s still the best!
I couldn't help but notice those BEAUTIFUL pearls she was wearing, necklace, bracelet and ring. stunning
She’s such a great teacher ❤️
I love it when Moena says that "we dance to celebrate life" !!!!!! :)

Moena Maiotui c'est le MIEUX!!! Je l'adore :)
I would like to see more recent videos of her and her dance group performances.
It's not her dance group. She's the female leader/lead dancer and choreographer. Just search Tahiti Ora.

Wonder if that moves may cause pain or injuries to your back after a few years?
Not if you do it properly, and take care of your body.
G do you can get the message that 🤷🙅🚴🤷
does anyone know a strategy on how to get fuller and wider fa'arapus?
