This is my favorite video for Hula dancing. The spoken word used to teach, the percussion, the studio and the dancer and the teacher give off such a great ambiance. It's easy to see why Hula is taken so seriously. It is not easy!!
These videos are awesome!!! I am a trained dancer who has always wanted to learn hula (yay quarantine project) and the technique is actually broken down and explained for proper movement-I purchased the entire download from the website it was money well spent😀
Actually women well into their 60's, 70's plus still dance hula. Its all in about learning how to, and using your knees and feet properly, as well as body alignment. Hula done properly builds strength throughout the core and legs. When I first learned hula from my kumu we worked on feet and leg work for over six full months to build proper mechanics before learning any upper body movements for story telling. If you are interested you should give it a chance and find a good, kumu (teacher) well grounded in traditional Hawaiian hula. I used hula as part of my recovery from over 80 broken bones in feet, knee injuries etc (car accident).
@@nancylucas4231 I was a bit worried about the knees too, but after reading that, I'm definitely going to have to pick up practicing. My mom's side of the family has needed knee surgery very early, around the late 20s to early 30s, and the rate my knees are heading at 17, I'll probably need it too. If it helped you recover from it wonderfully, I'll have to do it too
@@nancylucas4231 I don't know why I never got a notification about this when you actually posted it, but that's so informative! Thank you for sharing! I wish we had the option to do that where I live
Do it slower! She is basically moving in time laps here. Rocky movement is more for dances that require more energy for the story telling. You might just not "bend" your body enough and just move your hips. Try some stretchings and stuff to mak eyou more warmed up and bendy before you dance.
I love this video!! Thank you very much for sharing! I see the full art. This video itself perfect my hula game! Thank you again! Have to watch it again! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🙏🙏🙏🙏🌻🌻🌻🌻🦋🦋🦋🦋❤️❤️❤️💕💕💕💕🎊🎊🎊🎂🧁
I love it😭 I want to dance hula oh yeah I feel my mom and dad✨💖✨🍬💖🤣I found out that since I was a kid but I love you all because I found out i can do it in one only in one room with my mom and dad and I'm happy✨💖✨😭😍💝happy Valentine's day 2020🙏
First off: Feet are off ground for visual for the student Secondly:i want you to picture a sideways figure 8... looks kinda like the infinity symbol, no? Well, isn't that above kinda what u meant when u said "it's supposed to be up and over(and .. down and under up and over)" So now think, which would be easier to teach/grasp/learn "kind of a figure 8, picture it on its side" or"or "it's supposed to be up and over" I understand that you recognized the "wrong" and wanted to show the world you knew how to correct it, but perhaps next time slowdown and give a situation a chance before being harsh/judgemental(just like this statement is going to read to you, which the intent was to show the harsh not actually be harsh) i think we all benefit when we look at things from a different perspective. ibviewed this video, assuming the "mistakes" in the hula were a result of trying to alow to teach. if she had left her feet touching it wouldnt have been as helpful to the students. But hopefully a different perspective gives someone(thinking this way), even if not yourself, something to pause/ ponder on Have a great day, stay safe, be blessed! I changed a lot of the wording in this after recording because my intended smart elicyness read as ugliness and that absolutely was not my intent. hopefully the rewording has corrected that. I did leave a bit of smart elic in there to make point. either way, hope I made my point and again hope you have a great day!

This is amazing, but these dancers must have destroyed knees, damn!

How do you avoid rocky hips?

Would you kindly make her face the camera PLEASE? And her back to the mirror THANKS
If she faced the you, the viewer, reaching right for her would appear as reaching left to you. She would have to dance backwards.
schoola hula
moana?
Too much talking and very little demo. In fact, no demo at all. This is VIDEO, not RADIO. SHOW, don't TELL.
I learned nothing.
Believe in Jesus Christ, and repent of your sins! He’s coming back soon!
