- I love to cook outside on my Weber grill - especially steak! I have also noticed friends having similar success on outside griddles - so I decided to combine both! In this video I show how to add a beautiful stainless steel Little Griddle to my Weber grill to do both equally well! Lets get cooking!

I loved this video. Thank you for showing the product and actually cooking with it
When you cook Breakfast and are doing Bacon. You can use the Bacon grease to cook the Potatoes and Eggs. No need for the Olive oil. but after a year you may have been told or figured that out. Great Video.
Like for the kid. Her kindness is amazing upon the recipe!
Thank you sir. Peace and love to all.
If you haven't tried cooking with ghee(like clarified butter) I highly reccomend it that stuff enhances the flavor of food so much and has a high smoke point 485 degrees
Great video, thanks for the inspiration! Greets from Holland.
We got the same unit, works great. Learning to clean it is the hardest part.
Great video!!🙌🏼
I recommend removing the Flavorizer Bars when using a griddle on the Weber to get a higher temperature.
True. And also easier to maneuver around the griddle without a possible back hand burn. 👍
@doudymac The flavorizer bars are under the grill grate. Not the warming rack.
I just use a long piece of stainless steel sheet, cheap and works great
I couldnt find one I liked so I made my own. Carbon steel, 18" x 30". Went to Metal Supermarket and got the cut pieces for $65 Canadian and welded it up, and ground the welds. But It needs seasoning. I'm halfway there after 3 rounds. I have a hot BBQ so I will try lining the underside with a sheet of copper I've had for 30 years, so I can still get even heat but with only one or two burners on.
My guess is SS needs to be seasoned as well, before food doesnt stick like it does for buddy here.
I had been thinking about doing this with my Weber grill but now that I’ve seen this video I don’t think that I will.
I would go for the cold rolled steel griddle inserts instead. Once mine is seasoned the clean up is a breeze' and I use very little oil to cook.
Where do you get that?
Hi. I'm using this Little Griddle (the big one) since a little less than 2 months and I'd like to share few hints and tricks:
- In the official instructions, Little Griddle advises that the maximum heat to use is 400f for their griddls. You want to be around 375F, and 395F. If you crank your propane to the top, think about reducing it to medium - medium/low (depending of your BBQ) after 10 minutes or so. Use a laser thermometer to check the heat. Very important. Keep in mind that it's always warmer on the top corners. When the griddle is too hot (over 400F), particles will burn and will make dark stains. That will be hard to clean.
- While you cook, always sweep the accumulation of fat and small residues off your griddle in the grease tab or it will be a pain to wash later. Get a cleaning spatula for that.
If you get brown stains, and want to get rid of them, do never use heavy duty wool as I did the first time I used it. It makes scratches and you don't want that. Little Griddle recommends to use SOS steel wool. The fibers are very thin and you can't scratch your griddle with that. If you have stains that resist, put carbon powder on the stains, poor vinegar, wait few minutes, and rob with some SOS.
I store my Little Griddle in my BBQ with a BBQ liner on it. Before that, I generously spray it with Pam vegetable oil. We can also spread it with grease shortening to prevent rust.
Great suggestions! Thanks 😊
Check out Frostproof Florida someday!
I did buy an aluminum reversible griddle grill plate from Walmart by Viking brand or something that I thought would have been thicker and have done the job but the first time I used it to grill chicken breast the heat of the burners on my stove warped the crap out of it and turned it into a corkscrew so no longer will I be getting those I know cast iron and carbon still are pretty resilient
I love cooking on high quality, seasoned carbon steel.
Hi Charles, great video! My new griddle is working great on my Genesis but now I need a caddy for my sauces and tools. I have to bring out a ton of tools and sauces, to make up my Roast pork fried rice. Most caddies I find online don't make the hanger clamps wide enough for our Genesis grills. If you ever find a way to hang a caddy on these grills please post it. Thanks!
You're right. I searched a bit for a bbq caddy and did not find anything under $400 CAD. At that price they have nothing special. Few hooks to hang few tools, 2 shelves. Meeh! I gave up, and figured I can walk 12 feet to bring my stuff on the patio table. A good idea would be to get a big trey where you can put all your sauces and ingredients on, and bring everything one shot dressed as a Dracula or Elvis Presley.
What type of griddle is this and from where to get it?
How long does it take to heat up for smash burgers?
Just bought a 14x32" carbon plate from Walmart because I literally wana use it just for smash burgers.. gotta wait a few weeks but im excited. Had a smaller Lodge cast iron griddle pan that was like 12"x24 and rarely used it.. i hate having to babysit the cleaning process and while I know theyre similar, carbon steel is a touch easier and i wanted a larger cooking surface.
I wonder if I just got a 1/4" plate of stock from a metal shop how much cheaper itd be but i want those edged etc
$125 for that griddle adapter is not too bad. Wouldn’t it be better if you could take off the Weber grills for more intense heat since it would be closer to the burners?
I have a Weber e-310 genesis and it’s a 2012. Do you know if the dimensions are the same with the older genesis compared to the newer ones? It looks pretty much the same as this one.
Have one, it does not get hot enough without having to keep closing the lid. It’s ok for a temporary solution, but I will be purchasing a real flat top soon.
@@fredwills6288 I believe you are correct. On the manufacturer site I recall this low heat issue in the comments, and the response was to close the lid.
Does the food taste like it's been grilled?
I bought a really heavy duty stainless griddle for my Weber Spirit grill. It kind of works, but honestly does not get nearly hot enough for cooking high temperature foods like burgers and stir frying veggies and hash browns like you should. For the $100 you spend on this, it's better to get a Royal Gourmet 24" tabletop griddle. It works like a real griddle should.
Also, a real griddle does not need to be "cleaned". Just scrape it off, and wipe lightly with oil. Done.
i have a drop in unit which gets it closer to the heat source.
Yeah, I have to remove the grates, but honestly if I'm using my natural gas weber I''m mostly using it for griddle purposes, so it's not that much of a problem.
fyi- weber makes a "crafted series" griddle with insert for the right 2/3rd of the grill surface
I was so happy when I found out it was a Weber grill and then I was 2/3 happy when I saw the size… why Weber doesn’t make a full size flat grill
@@jcmartiz now they do!
I like my bacon crispy too!
I would just use a couple big cast iron pans myself.....
Have you made smash hambugers on this grill? I am looking to buy this insert on my Char Broil and want to cook Smash Hamburgers.
I have, and it works just fine, the only I thing I hate about this is the cleaning
remove the grill grates and fit the griddle closer to the flame
Only problem with that is it can cause excessive heat build up in the lower grill pan. Will over heat it and cause the expensive grill to burn out quickly.
It gets plenty hot sitting on the grates. I actually raised mine off the grates a little to allow heat to escape the grill pan. Still works great. Although mine is custom made out of 3/16 cold roll steel.
And now they have a direct drop-in insert. Thank goodness!
The benefit of the Little Griddle over the new Weber drop in griddle is that it is stainless steel and much easier to clean, no seasoning necessary, and best of all the grease stays in the front trough and doesn't fall in the grill making a mess 😀
Enjoyed the video. I would recommend not to use olive oil initially. The reason is it has a very low smoke point. You would be better off with a vegetable oil and save money too.
Vegetable oil is terrible for your health
Use grapeseed or coconut oil
Just ordered one get job!
Instant follow.
Needed a lil more heat for cleaning
@charles: can we get a follow up? Would you still recommend?
Absolutely I highly recommend this Little Griddle and continue to use it more than my Weber grates!!
😊😊
Olive oil is the wrong choice for this. it has a really low smoke point.
How do you keep it from bowing up while you are cooking
The stainless steel griddle has several crossing ribs on the underside to keep it flat
Does a griddle work well using natural gas (vs propane)? Propane burns with a much higher BTU . Not sure if your grill is natural gas or not
they still work fine with NG. I say this based on two things: I've been putting a carbon steel pan on my NG grill to make burgers and it works well--but I'll admit that although they still cook fast, maybe they need 60-90 seconds longer than a blazing hot propane griddle. And someone was just telling me how they use an NG conversion kit with a small Blackstone, and it works fine for them. So maybe the NG is like 75% as 'hot' as the propane--but it's still hot enough to do the job.
Where did you get the griddle

Cleaning the griddle isn’t that different from cleaning a SS skillet. The surface should be hot when you apply water. The steam will lift the fond from the surface. It’s called deglazing.
Yeah exactly as soon as i pull the food from the pan i hit it with water and everything wipes off easily
I was thinking the same thing, but if there's a lot of (possibly hot enough to boil water) grease drippings so close to the top, you might have to be careful to remove some of the grease first
You’re doing the cleanup wrong .. Your griddle surface needs to be HOT , then you pour the water on which will immediately deglaze the surface and loosens off all the fond ,, then wipe it clean . It also looks like this griddle was not properly seasoned ,, there are many videos on UA-cam explaining how to season stainless steel cooking surfaces 😊
Hi My friend, I am Johnny in Canada, where did you get that? How much ? I love it. I have the 330 like you

Do you cook on max gas?
Yes, turn all burners on high and let grill get to at least 300⁰F before cooking...and this can take a little while...
No seasoning?
No seasoning necessary on a stainless steel griddle!!
Wher did you get the grillie
Griddle.. sorry guys

what about cast iron?
I understand that cast iron is preferable for even heating of the cooking surface however the trade off is it requires constant seasoning and meticulous cleaning. Stainless is slightly less even temperature but no seasoning necessary and much easier to clean! I have also seen a cast iron griddle rust badly and require lots of love to get it re-seasoned good enough to use again 😀
I will stick with my Blackstone Griddle... Thanks
u do that you tart
Same exact thing!
You’re pretty cool.
This is for someone who already has a grill and doesn’t have room or want the expense of buying a black stone….
Blackstone…. The new traeger…. What’s the next “must have”? I’ll stick to my Weber, it will always work and never goes out of fashion. Blackstone - where only breakfast and ruined burgers are made.
No you want hot hot hot griddle after you finish cooking throw on a 😢bucket of ice water and it lifts all that brand new
How is this holding up?
The Little Griddle is still working perfectly and continues to clean easily!
Seems a little half asx! For $300 you can get a great Blackstone.
not ideal for eggs it appears. ok for scrambled, just ok. overall not bad but who wants to clean and store that thing.
Yea.. ok.. that cleaning process looks so “simple”, why fast forward and skip so many steps??
because he did it wrong, you should pour the water while it's hot and the steam lifts off all the grime and then it scrapes very Easley, still a messy job though because you still have to pick up all this grime from the front
Those eggs were done on the first check
These Gas grills aren't hot enough to do this properly. You have to have it on full, lid closed and still isn't hot enough to sear a steak. :( Get a dedicated flat top.
Bro likes them eggs rubber done
You need to season the griddle before you cook on it
Stainless steel griddles do not need to be seasoned, just cast iron ones do!
Truth
@@charlescoushaine carbon steel does also but even if yours wasnt stainless, using the bacon as a 1st cook would be plenty of fat to season the metal.
Buy a Blackstone!!
Good video, did you have to season the griddle first ?
Just to give you an idea, the first time I used mine, I've put bacon on it to season it, and to test it. Well, that bacon sticked as hell on the surface. If course I've been able to remove the bacon, and flip it, but there was a strong resistance. In other words, everything we cook on this needs at least a little oil.
At the end, I ALWAYS need to take that griddle in the kitchen sink to deep wash it with water and S.O.S. wool (best thing I tried to remove the stains). If I want to cook something quick, then I stay away from that griddle and use a good made in USA non stick pan I have (not iron cast. I don't like it. It's way too much job).
I'm telling you.... this griddle is awesome, but it's much more job, and it takes much more time than cooking in a kitchen with good pans. About the taste, it doesn't taste special at all. It tastes very standard.
