- The Many Saints of Newark: A Sopranos Story
Trailer: • THE MANY SAINTS OF NEW...
This week, friend of the show and all-around legend Michael Gandolfini joins us to help whip up the depressed-Artie-Bucco-special: 'Conglio alla Famiglia', a handwritten recipe, fully visible on screen in maybe my favorite show of all time, The Sopranos! In Italian. In cursive. Whatever! Michael's here to tell us about 2021's most anticipated film event (or event in general). The Many Saints of Newark: a Sopranos Story comes out October 1st in theaters and on HBO Max!

Now THIS kid, HE looks like he's got the makings of a varsity athlete.
There's no rabbits in my cookbook. Make it happen.
He never did 20 years in the can or ate grilled cheese off a radiator.
Small hands.. that was his problem..
Awesome comment!
I think he’s very prepared
Babish has Artie's chef whites and the carving fork from Chef. He's only three Cooking Infinity Stones away
He has Weissman’s knife too!
Now he needs Emeril Legasse's spice grinder
If he grows his hair out and gets a terrible blond dye job, we all need to be careful...
Turns out that the tiny whisk was one owned by Wolfgang Puck.
@@chronosorion6911 Julia Child's Dutch oven
Fun fact, they leave the kidneys in rabbits because they are almost indistinguishable from cats once skinned but the kidneys of a carnivore are much larger so they leave the rabbit kidneys in to prove that it isn’t a cat.
Ew
that actually is a very fun fact thank you for adding to my compendium of random knowledge
And of course, the kidney is a chef snack. Take it out, fry it up in butter, and voila.
That is incredibly disturbing.....
I’m told that counting the ribs settles uncertainties. I don’t know if that’s true.
I don’t know how James Gandolfini would react to his son playing young Tony, but I have a feeling he’d be proud of Michael. So excited for Many Saints.
Is James deaded?
@@TheNaKio he passed in 2013 sadly 😥
@@TheNaKio Jesus. Turn your brain on.
@@TheNaKio Yes but according to a recent profile he wasn’t too keen on Michael acting because he was worried of the pressure it would bring. Plus James always found Tony Soprano an exhausting dark role, so this will allow Michael to understand how his dad approached the character.

Babish: "The Sopranos is my favorite TV show of all time"
His Fraiser shirt: "Am I a joke to you?"
Not to mention his old stuff used the closing song as his intro
Also The West Wing, which is how he got the name Babish :(
Having said that, you gotta love that mash-up between _Frasier_ and the _Unknown Pleasures_ album cover. Was Niles a closet Joy Division fan, one wonders?
@@MaquiladoraIII Daphne would have been a fan and Niles would learn about them from her when they finally got together.
Along with his Frasier tattoo lol
Andrew and Michael seem more like high school buds rather than two guys who just saw each other one day while getting groceries.
It's a real meet-cute.
I like how Babish just makes friends with famous people just randomly
I mean, isnt Andrew a famous person now, and he deserves his fame, mans the definition of wholesome
Who wouldn’t be friends with Andy? He seems nice enough
I wouldn't know any of these people if I saw them in real life
The dude is obviously doing this to promote the movie.
This was 100% initiated by the production company to promote the movie. However, Babish does seem to vibe with everyone he's had on the show.
It blows my mind how big this channel has gotten! It was like yesterday I was watching Andrew recreate a McDonalds dipping sauce, and now he's hosting James Gandolfini's son playing the role that made his father famous.
This channel has been big for some time now.
IKR!! I still use his Szechwan recipe! My friends watch the BCU but still beg me for the recipe haha.
I can't wait to watch Michael play his Legendary Father's iconic character. RIP James, you are still missed.
Thanks Babish for this special treat. You're the goods!
Babish in every other episode: "Salt."
Babish in this episode: "Sawwllt"
Gandolfini really brings out Babby's New York-ness.
Rochester has a completely different accent than downstate, NYC or Jersey. They sound like the mid west up in Rochester
@@lylehenry3478 born and raised in rochester, thats not always true. Yes some people do but alot of people still have a pretty thick NYC accent, specifically the Italians. I always get told i sound like im from NYC and people are surprised to find out im from upstate.
"solt"
Such a great episode… I bet his dad would be so proud.
idk. he never had the makings of a varsity chef
Big props to Kendall for probably doing all the mise en place and making Andrew's job 100% easier, especially in an episode like this where he is supposed to be restricted.
I'm looking forward to the videos that are going to have Kendall in the spotlight; she's a fantastic recurring character in the Babish universe.
“The Sopranos: My favorite TV Show of all time”
*wearing a Frasier shirt
*used Frasier theme song as theme for earlier BWB episodes
Cool story.
I went stright to the comments when he said that
Maybe he has 2 favorite shows?! Or more?!
Wearing a Sopranos t-shirt with Michael Gandolfini on the set would be like wearing the t-shirt of your favorite band to their own concert. Don't be that guy.
Whilst also being named after a character from The West Wing
Babish, you've done several Sopranos dishes on this show, and yet you've been dodging the biggest one of all.
You've gotta make the gabagool.
OVA HEEEERE
Woke up this morning, got some gabagool
He's working on it. He has a hog being grown for him in Piemonte, so he can make various types of salumi out of it.
With a side salad. If the salad is on top, I send it back.
The gabagool, whateva happened there?
The sheer amount of giggling in this video is utterly adorable. You can tell those two are having a ton of fun and it's really neat to see.
That was so adorable, I'm glad he was able to talk about his dad so candidly. Probably not an easy topic but there was clearly so much respect. Their friendship is awesome too.
The amount of fun they're having is just amazing. You cannot create this kind of alchemy by chance.
Never would've guessed Babish's new best friend would be Tony Soprano.
"alchemy"
Did you meant chemistry?
Fullmetal Alchemist
@@swaggernautilus3891 Nah. Alchemy is right. She's clearly referring to Ed and Al's brotherhood.
Michael is the spitting image of his father. And he has the same kind face and disposition. I couldn't be more excited for this movie.
I can't wait for the movie, Michael gonna make his father proud!
Michael: you go to the movies. You buy a ticket. You get popcorn.
Me w/HBO: I wake up. I scratch my balls. Pour a coffee. Watch the movie for 10 minutes. Pause it. Take a dump. Finish watching the movie.
Its free real estate.
Cool, dude.
The 'scratch my balls' part is too relatable
💀💀💀💀💀
Hmmmmm...........but do you wash your hands after said ball scratching episode?
Honestly better that way. I have never and will never understand the appeal of the movie theater experience.
Everybody else: "I love how Babish makes friends with celebs!"
Me: "That's cool, too, but what about that Joy Division/Frasier shirt?"
Literaly thinking the same thing 😂
I love how Andrew is just being himself on camera, like it looks like if the camera was actually hidden
The Sopranos is a very dark comedy. Whenever I watch it, I find myself laughing so hard, even at some of the more violent scenes. The absurdity of the possible reality gets me every single time.
Yeah and it's not just the blatantly funny lines, I also love all of the little touches and moments in the show that show the character's hypocrisy or undercut them to make them look incompetent. Like whenever Paulie would hand someone money it would be less than what Tony gave him cuz he pocketed it XD. Or how Janice broke up with Ralph after talking to her therapist about letting him down easy. The writers really had no respect for any of these characters as people and it made the show that much better
Oh c'mon Babby just tell us that you're playing Artie in the movie.
hope is johny v with the irishman technology
WE LEAD THE WORLD IN COMPUTERIZED RECIPE VIDEOS
That woulda been cool. I could see him as a young Artie but without the Italian element.
Young bromance, a beautiful thing to behold.
“Me and my dad got to do this together”… now I’m sobbing 🥺👌🏼
Man, this is the best interview with Michael I've seen, maybe because he actually looks like he's enjoying it. Amazing amalgamation of actual questions and just being entertaining to watch people talk about what they love
It's a privilege to see the man Michael is becoming, you get to see a lot of his father on him, his eyes, hand gestures, that goofy little smile...
honestly this entire episode just makes me smile because their friendship is really wholesome and clear to see
Man, it's so heartwarming to see how many people you've inspired with your show, Babish. From me and other randos on the internet, to my peers and coworkers in real life, to even celebrities like Michael Gandolfini and John Favreau. You're a blessing upon us all.
I love how Kendall is just in the background, prepping things and judging Andrew
It's crazy to imagine how Babish went from making videos in a tiny apartment in Harlem (I believe it's Harlem, if not, I'm sorry) by himself to his dream home with a crew and cooking for the son Tony Soprano.
The best part is, he hasn't changed a bit.
Seeing Andy giddy like a fan boy in this is really wholesome and I live for it
One must always enjoy how real Andrew is when we occasionally get to see the full Babish! A genuine human. Love it!
i like the fact that he got comfortable cooking high :D
Since it's the 25th anniversary of Blue's Clues, make either Banana Muffins (but don't eat them) or Blue's birthday cake & cupcakes shaped like a paw print
If Babish can eat dog food, then I'm sure he can make a dish from a baby show
I second this

I can’t imagine the child of any actor stepping into such an iconic role of their parent but I also can’t think of anyone else who could. The pressure he must of had but what an homage as well
Mark and Michael Consuelos portray the same character at different points in his life on Riverdale. Not quite the same, but I thought it was interesting.
@@moblinmajorgeneral definitely not the same. Lol

Andrew: acting like his pronunciation of "coniglio" was correct
Italians: *sipping espresso loudly avoiding eye contact*
Andrew: "The Sopranos is my favorite TV show of all time."
Andrew's shirt: "Am I a joke to you?"
I really appreciate the connection they make both having lost a parent. As someone who cooks and has also lost a parent, it's a bittersweet sort of moment
I like to eat the whole thigh. This would be a great dish for dinner😍😍😍
Or maybe just the fleshy part of the thigh.
Michael has the makings of a varsity athlete. Quasimodo predicted that his movie will be a hit
A hits a hit!
I love this format of video, more relaxed and a bit less edited! You really created the feeling that we are there with you
Best show of all time! Hyped for Saints of Newark
i hope he has the makings of a varsity athlete.
The beautiful friendship we never knew existed, but now cannot live without.
You know what this video makes me realise?
I really miss James ganolfini. Not just Tony soprano but everything he did. Brilliant
He would have made a brilliant Jubal Harshaw in an adaptation of Stranger In A Strange Land...
We still miss you, James. Michael will make you proud.
I feel like a lot of people stab their pasta after watching Tony eat. I certainly do. The food was a huge part of the show, I found. The aesthetic, the presentation of every single moment food was on the screen really showed the importance food has. They put a lot of effort giving every meal a character. Even the gabagool
WHERE'S THE GABAGOOL ?! 😆
you should get the Sopranos cookbook! it's incredible
Gabagool! Over heya!
I work in retail. I got coughed on , on purpose at the beginning of the pandemic and had to quarantine. I was so afraid and didn't know what was going to happen to me. I binged your videos and got a sort of peace. You truly are a calming agent. Thank you
Michael is so awesome! His dad would be so proud of him!
Hello 👋 how are you doing today👋
Andrew: *screams when bandaged hand is shaken*
Me: *laughs uncontrollably*
It never gets old
I'm surprised he didn't hand you a prop gun when you asked for something to "whack" the rabbit with
"A cartoon combined with a really dark drama"
So you're telling me the Yakuza games are just Japanese Sopranos.
I've never seen the Sopranos (before my time) but somehow this makes perfect sense.
They gonna make him an offer he cant understand
"The Sopranos, my favorite show of all time" You better not let Frasier hear you say that.
Presumably when Kelsey Grammer appears on BwB, Babish will be wearing a Sopranos shirt. 😂
Or West Wing for that matter, given the name Binging with Babbish.
Nice to see Babish took his hat off out of respect, he knew they didn’t sell hot dogs there, they took the bleachers out years ago.
Solid reference
Bleachers? Whatever happened there?
That rabbit never had the makings of a varsity athlete.
That's why he couldn't get away from the butcher.
14:31 "I eat like that because I grew up watching him"
omfg... I was working at IBM with a wife, a kid, and another on the way when the sopranos came out.
Michael is so much like his father, I cannot wait to see The Many Saints of Newark. I wish him all the success. Excellent episode Babish!
Under no circumstances would I ever POSSIBLY see two titans together
What I love about this channel is the authenticity of Andrew. Just some guy cooking stuff that he loves for people that he loves. So glad to be here with you now. 😀
A couple requests:
* Monty Python's Flying Circus: Lobster Thermidor aux crevettes with a Mornay Sauce, served in a Provencale manner with shallots and aubergines garnished with truffle pate, brandy and with a fried egg on top and spam.
* Red Dwarf: A triple fried egg butty with chili sauce and chutney
That was absolutely delightful. What a sweet, funny, easygoing chemistry they have. Looking forward to the movie!
I wanted to watch one of Borko’s videos, but I compromised; I watched Babish’s rabbit video instead.
Sopranos material is always welcome, Andy!
I love that I'm not the only person who puts this channel on to fall asleep. This was such a great episode, I am all about how much fun they were having.
"my favorite show of all time" said the man in the Frasier shirt lol
I'm very tired and also on narcotic painkillers for a severe toothache. Because of that my mind forced me to read the title as "James Gandolfini" and I was very confused.
Definitely needed this to wake me up before the work day starts!
Seriously... if you're gonna make any food from the Sopranos it's gotta be Uncle Philly's Compromise Sandwich.
This is so crazy because 1) I've been rewatching The Sopranos. And 2) I had a similar experience to Michael's! I DMd Babs a few years ago and told him that his voice calmed my anxiety and helped me fall asleep, and he responded! It meant a lot to me and I've been a fan ever since. It's nice to know that I'm not alone in my experience! My invitation of friendship is also open, Babby and Michael! 💗💗💗
This is a great channel and I am also enjoying every bit of their work!!

Ive watched the sapranos like 6 times and i actually just finished season 6 like 3 weeks ago in preparation for the saints of Newark and i have been watching binging with babish for years and i think these 2 obsessions coming together is absolutely random and the best thing ever and for michael i always wished for a prequel and having you play your fathers character is the most amazing thing i always said no one could play tony no one can be that character except james gandolfini well i guess they found away in you cant wait for the release
I've never seen a single episode, movie, anything associated with sopranos. But I still enjoyed this episode, great lil bromance they got going there.
😭😭😭😭♥️♥️♥️ My heart is so full. Thank you for this beautiful video Babish. Wow. The best interview with Michael I’ve seen. Can’t wait for Many Saints. This will be my fave Binging with Babish for the foreseeable future. ♥️
That was a lot of bromance for one episode

the sopranos is my favorite show ever and james is my favorite actor ever. he had so much charisma and could become the character so well. his son looks so much like him and while i was a little hesitant to watch newark, i'm gonna give it a chance! great episode :3

Learning and doing strange things because we watched our parents and learned that way... Yeah, I feel that. My dad was an architectural draftsman and I learned cad and such from him that I use in my career but more than that before I was born my dad was a construction worker and a concrete block fell on his hand and cut off his pinky. He had it reattached and with the workman's comp he took courses in drafting and that is how he got into his career. His pinky was attached but largely non-functioning and as he got into computers in his 30s he had to learn how to type on his own and he did so without the use of his pinky. A decade after he died someone asked me why I dont type normally. I did not understand what they meant. Without intending to I type without the use of my right pinky, just from watching my dad type that way as a young child.
He's got the same big warm smile as his dad. I always had a crush on Tony bc of his tough alpha male ways and James was my dad's favorite actor mostly bc of his fantastic portrayal of Tony. No denying that is James' son. I'd love to see photos of James when he was young to compare with Michael.
Artie cooking that Rabbit was in my opinion one of the best parts of the whole series!
You gotta make grilled cheese off the radiator before The Many Saints of Newark comes out.
It’s eerie watching Michael. He’s of course his own person but at the same time, he’s so much like his father, as if it’s the elder Gandolfini hanging out with Andy
I don't see it, but they do look alike.
Yeah I think you’re trying to see something that isn’t there
