Funny - I totally love my old McLaren GT3 Rim. I was one of the lucky persons who got it, when the CS Quckrelease was included in the packaging. No flex, no bouncing switches, no issues at all. The only thing i could see someone criticising is the cheaper material on the analog-pedals compared to the high-quality aluminium shifter bar. But im happy that Fanatec made a V2.0 for all the ppl out there that had issues with the old one. Its one of the best rims they have, especially if you look at the price. Good video as always :)

Yeah, that's the thing with all of these wheels isn't it? Realistically, a formula rim and maybe something bigger and rounder should do the trick for 95% of situations.

Yeah, the new Simple QR is a big improvement over the old one, but I really think the clubsport QR is the only way to go on DD - if nothing else, it gives you piece of mind!
I ordered mine earlier today (preorder from 13th jan) saw how quickly these sold out first time around when I was a sim racing lurker where a set up was oh but a dream, and so as soon as I saw it I jumped on it. Really good timing for me personally too, as have been thinking of getting a gt style rim and so really was a no brainer. Right place right time and Can’t wait to try it out! I know it’s just semantics but this is a wheel, not a rim ;) For those who don’t know, that distinction is important as Fanatec sells both, and they are not the same. Wheels include everything you need to start using them with a wheel base right away. Rims however, require hubs to function, as well as other adding like paddles, for example. Be careful when buying a wheel, not to buy a rim by mistake, or vice versa. I recently purchased one of these and can’t wait to use it!

I have purchased this wheel like the layout etc, but the rattling from the buttons are just a non starter for me. Reverted back to my old wheel which does not rattle like this. I have emailed Fanatec with video and they say this is normal.
I have the original one (was a slow goldmine with the pirces 2nd hand skyrocketing). It was great, but built ***. I hope everybody enjoys this wheel. The grip is amazing!
Racing a 100% in VR ....the only importance for me is the wheel shape....having the 3 most important one's (round classic/F1 style/GT style) you really dont need more. But being a FANATEC addict they do look nice just hanging on your wall......

The only things that really effect the amount of ffb you feel with a rim are the diameter and the weight of the wheel. Larger and heavier wheel rims with somewhat reduce the ffb feel when used with a motor of a given strength.
Honestly, can anyone tell me if there's a wheel compatible with the csl elite/clubsport (still making up my mind) that's similarly priced besides the bundled and rally wheels? I was baffled when I checked their site and saw most wheels are more expensive than the base.
I'm just so up in the air on what wheel to get. I have arthritis in my hands. It is especially b nasty in my thumbs. My hands are pretty particular with what they can tolerate. I wonder if the shifters have an easy feel to them.

Yeah, good point - though here's no rev-lights on the real one since there's all on the dash display. To be honest, I'm not sure I've ever looked at the rev lights on any of my rims, too busy trying to avoid the punts ;)

Is this stiffer/more solidly built than v1? Never have had shift-problems in v1 but damn how I hate how it make plasticky knircs and knarcs all the time. Hand grips area is the worst, you don't even have to squuze hard, just keeping your grilp and it still make annoying noise. That alone has kept my from using it except sometimes briefly.

Answered my own question, got one and yep, worth the purchase at the price. Prefer the f1 carbon for formula racing, but this is a huge improvement for GT3 and tin top racing. Depends on the wheel types you have, and what games you prefer, but for my first gt3 style wheel, this is amazing.

Definitely not. The old one was kindof a one-time-deal, in the sense that it was Fanatec's most popular wheel, but they pulled it from sale due to the issues that kept cropping up with the shifters and QR.
This wheel has some serious design flaws. The quick release is plastic and leaves the wheel knocking and wobbling constantly. It was not tested in this video. Check the Fanatec forums, its full of complaints about the terrible knocking of this wheel. Be aware before buying.
Was 18th of December. I was quick off the mark and got one, but it sold out very quickly. If you are interested, well worth the money and waiting time. It is now my wheel of choice in most of the driving I do.
Yeah, but then you lose the smoothness of motion. to shoot at 60fps, you're supposed to have the shutter at 180 degrees really, so 1/125 is the closest. Unfortunately you are left with a choice of flickering LCDs or choppy movement. So, when the LCD is small, I tend to go for the movement :)

I have a CSL Elite wheelbase and the quick release works just fine! I have the Clubsport quick release and that works just as well!
Mine will be here on Saturday! I’ve already given my venerable G27 to Youngest and they’re already starting to sass their Slow Old Dad! 😉

My v1 broke the upshift , and I received some “emails” from Fanatec since I start to complain. Hope they fixed his issues now

Yeah, the optional Clubsport QR is a simple bolt on replacement. It takes about 2 minutes to swap over.

CSL elite is cheaper and not much different to the CSW. The McLaren GT3 wheel is well worth it in this combo.

Set the shutter a bit lower to get rid of the LED display flashes in the video ;-) 1/30 or something like this depending on your FPS.
Yeah, but then you lose the smoothness of motion. to shoot at 60fps, you're supposed to have the shutter at 180 degrees really, so 1/125 is the closest. Unfortunately you are left with a choice of flickering LCDs or choppy movement. So, when the LCD is small, I tend to go for the movement :)
I wish you would actually show different ways of gripping the wheel. Does everyone really uses all their fingers to do the shifts?
You have tattoos?
Is it usable with games like F1 or its too wide in diameter?
