Hello Dave, at 7:09 as u can see there is a pin on the original newly designed quick release, and that is missing on the metal quick release. the reason for this pin is to activate Low Torque mode on DD1 and DD2 (it actually pushes a button on the rear of the wheel) since even though it is enforced plastic, it wont survive much against high torque. and the rocker style shifter on this wheel is to also to use push pull shifting since some people use this style, push to downshift and pull to upshift. just wanted to share some info hope you like them. Tbh I think fanatec did an amazing job on the V2. They look to have fixed every issue people seem to have had with the V1
I just bought one through your link! I'm so excited for my first formula style rim, thanks Dave!
I just pre ordered mine
Hey Dave. Do you think a rim like this work work okay for oval, stock car, etc?
Well, it is Sold out already. So I suppose the inflated used prices will return with a vengeance.
apparently it was just a glitch in the site
I have the V1 McLaren GT3 rim and bought it when Fanatec had a bundle on sale that included the rim and the Clubsport metal QR for a really good price.
It has been my daily driver and I love it. Was actually worried if it ever failed I could not replace it as it was discontinued.
Well just ordered a new V2 to have for a spare.
My V1 shifters have always been fine but I will check out the V2 magnetic shifters and if they are better will make the V1 the spare.
For the money it is hard to beat the McLaren GT3 rim. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have enjoyed mine!
I've hardly taken it off the rig. I love it 👍
The McLaren new physics make it very usable now. Set it up and give it a go.
Dave, what fanatec base is that for the wheel?
Just ordered it
The rocker on the shifter is one of the best things, you can shift or downshift with just one hand, if you want to drink or do other things while racing.
I've been using the v1 for about 1.5 years now and i'm very happy with it. The OLED display broke about 3 weeks ago and i got it back from repairs yesterday. Besides that, really happy.
I've been looking at this wheel rim recently and found this video. How good are the lower paddles for braking and accelerating? I assume they know how much pressure is applied rather than just being off or on like the shifters? thanks
Yes fully analogue 👍
Damn. Its to bad its for Xbox. I got a PS. 😞😞
Also works on ps5 if used with a ps5 compatible wheel base
Best bong for bock
Do you need a wheelbase for this wheel when playing on xbox?
That looks nice I need to trade in my thrustmaster stuff for fanetec....man that insta is sick
Do you have to buy the ClubSport quick release adapter separate?
Only if you want to use the high torque mode on a direct drive wheel base 👍
Do you experience any flex with the wheel where the quick release is?
Great video Dave, thank you. Quick question: what headphone/mic are you wearing? Cheers
I use an Audio Technica BPHS1 👍
Spuggy and Geoff down the grove would love it.
Is it a formula rim tho i thought it was a GT3 Rim
Formula style. As in, not round 😁
What settings do you use for IRacing?
Hey Dave,
Thanks for the video, just put my order in with your link. :)
Was going to buy the Formula V2, but the size difference swayed me instantly.
I think it would be worth mentioning in the video that the PnP to England from Fanatec is €20 on top of the wheel price in case people can't afford the extra!
Merry Christmas Dave and keep the Videos Coming!
Thanks buddy, appreciate it. Did my first race with the McLaren rim last night and loved it 😁
Great review dude. I'm still using the McLaren V1 and I love it. Looking forward to more of these review videos. You've got a talent for it my man.
That "quick release" looks like it's going to be a sloppy mess after a few years. I guess we'll see, but I want to see more metal in these wheels.
Fanatec sells a proper metal quick release as an option and it’s pretty much required if you have a direct drive wheel.
Bit of a specific question, but is the shifter paddle quite loud on this? From some other videos it looked like it could be quite noisy
No, I wouldn't say it's loud loud. Louder than any of my other Fanatec wheels though
