1:03:00 Steve was born from Battle from Zendikar, he's actually on one of Kiora's Octopus tokens. The aiming at Emrakul was when he planeswalked to Innistrad with his floating rock and spotter to take down Emrakul. (The last part may be reddit shenanigans)
After the first translation of Demon of Dark Schemes, it has forever been Demon of Shady Schemes to my playgroup, in fact, our resident Meren player has actually refused to put it in their edh deck, because of the name not being what we originally thought it was.
Each one of the seven Dwarven kingdoms were given one ring of power by Sauron the Deceiver, after he had gotten these rings from invading Eregion. The names of these Dwarven kingdoms are: 1) The Longbeards 2) Stonefoots 3) Firebeards 4) Broadbeams 5) Ironfists 6) Sitffbeards 7) Blacklocks We know that the lord of the Longbeards who got the Ring was Durin III, and he passed it down to Thror, king of Erebor until Smaug destroyed it. After that Thror passed down his ring to Thraín, who was captured by Sauron and took the Ring in Dol Gûldur. He also managed to capture two others and the remaining four were destroyed by dragon fire. In all honesty, they never really named them singularly.
I like that Oviya Pashiri actually IS technically a cat lady, since she and Ajani have a familial relationship (he considers her his grandmother) according to last week's story.
Love these episodes. Thank you for doing all that you do! Fretwork Colony = Thermites instead of termites, Revoke Privileges = You're Grounded!, and Fleetwheel Cruiser = Batmobile
"Hit 'em with ur crossbow, steve!" was a joke first made at the BFZ octopus token, in which a tiny little man is aiming at this behemoth of an octopus with a crossbow
"Dovin Baan" is apparently pronounced like "Dove in Bonn", so I say his nicknamed should be "Emerged in Cologne" (Cologne being just downstream from Bonn on the Rhine).
Lovely work as ever folks! Just thought I'd add 2 that our group is using: Aetherfllux Capacitor - "Charge the Orbital Death Cannon!" Filigree Familiar - Happy Dogbot (due to similarities with Solemn Simulacrum as 'Sad Robot')
Shoot him with your crossbow Steve was from Battle for Zendikar, and it is the second most upvoted post on /r/magictcg. There was a followup photoshop from eldritch moon called Shoot her with your crossbow Steve.
I'm glad you've gotten everyone else to pile in with nickname suggestions, to follow on from that I want to request nickname podcast by Beej. And Alex, for Filigree Familiar, maybe Canine-trip? Self-assembler can get 22 different cards: Itself, "Assembly-Worker" from Time Spiral, or any of 20 Changelings.
I, too, misread Metalwork Colossus when I first saw it. Unfortunately, that was during the pre-release, and I had built a deck around it. Didn't find out about my mistake until the next day :,-(
Loved the "Dome Dome" for the Aetheflux Reservoir. I'd suggest for the Ghirapur Guide "And we're walking..." For Welding Sparks "Shake hands with Danger" For Maulfist Doorbuster "Zak Meatfist is...." But those are possibly too LRR-centric for some folks to get. I've heard the fleetwheel cruiser announced as "I'm pulling out of my driveway. We all know what that means..."
at 55:25 The use of that card is to return a bunch of zero and one drop artifacts to your hand, and then play them all at once to get a bunch of Aetherworks marvel triggers and then dome your opponent with that 50 life you suddenly have.
Dhund Operative: whenever you trade "You got dhund in." Eddie the Eagle, also a Goalie in the NHL about a decade ago. Thriving Ibex: Thrivin' Ivan! Also, for the entire cycle, just yell "I've never felt so alive!" When you attack
6:40 I've always learned it as the 'magic smoke'. 8:10 Imma still call it 'the death star' myself. 11:25 Shagtusk. That's a keeper. 17:25 I just go with 'hug', but that was solid. 27:34 The name's a meta joke that the card is a challenge to see if anyone's dumb enough to build around it. Yeah, not a good nickname, but that's my read on it. 49:33 Heh, meta 53:10 Snap-keep nickname. 53:23 Her cat is also Ajani, but that barely counts. 54:00 Bronzebeard Speakers. Make a hearthstone reference. Do it. 54:26 "I'm totally loosing this inventor's fair to the guy who submitted that Sol Ring, aren't I?" 56:20 "Ow, that stings!" 57:20 False DUI charges 57:26 "Damnit, why do all these artifacts have calculators built in?" (Joke on old card miscalculation. It bad, I know) 58:56 "I'll triple my Gearhulk please." 1:01:30 Actually, let's got back to 'Make Obselete' and name that one 'unsubscribe servo facts' 1:10:49 "Bzzzt!" 1:10:57 "Why the fuck would anyone license that?" 1:11:46 "Well, I guess I'll get a good prowess card somewhere else then..." 1:14:40 No, you just go "Thopthopthopthopthopthopthopthopthopthopthopthop"
FYI, Zemo was also the main villain in Captain America: Civil War. He was the guy who framed Bucky, killed Black Panthers dad and got everyone fighting.
24:20 Depala should be called, "Balthor the Stout doesn't care about Dwarven people!" Because Balthor was a legendary dwarf that gave +1/+1 to barbarians. He was killed and brought back by cabalists as a legendary zombie dwarf that gave +1/+1 to minions. Now finally someone cares about the dwarves!
Pretty much everyone in my local gaming store, and a fair few randoms at GP London, just call Impeccable Timing "Suddenly Ajani". Skywhale shot always tends to be met with singing of "We're whalers on the moon" (from Futurama ep. 1/2)
Someone might've already pointed this out, but I thought that the reason Chandra's face is a bit strange on Diabolic Tutor is because it's trying to resemble the M14 art.
I feel like Chandras pyrohelix should just be called "Chandra's(trademark symbol) forked bolt". reason being, it's like forked bolt but we need to pay an extra mana for the licensing of Chandra's name.
Aradara Express = Pain Train Appetite for the unnatural = Pica (the eating disorder where you eat things that aren't edible) Eddytrail Hawk = (aether)storm crow Torrential Gearhulk = Fatcaster Mage
The only referance I can find is in a 2003 supplement Dwarves of Middle-earth, the Dwarf lords and their houses are Durin Linnar Sindri Thulin Uri Var and Vigdis.
I also thought it was an abortion joke and was like "Wow, the first day after conception? That IS really young." Then they went somewhere totally different.
53:35 Everything involving that nickname and Kathleen's response legitimately gives me life.
26:25 "Die Young" = "Morning After" makes me immediately think of the morning after pill and puts a *really* dark spin on the original name...

Verdurous Gearhulk: Not the hero Gavony Township needs, but the hero it deserves.
Verdurous Gearhulk: Gaea's Revenge 2.0. I like yours better, but I've heard people call it "Gaea's Revenge 2.0"
Verdurous Gearhulk: A Boldwyr Heavyweights with NO DOWNSIDE?
I like that Oviya Pashiri actually IS technically a cat lady, since she and Ajani have a familial relationship (he considers her his grandmother) according to last week's story.
Love these episodes. Thank you for doing all that you do!
Fretwork Colony = Thermites instead of termites, Revoke Privileges = You're Grounded!, and Fleetwheel Cruiser = Batmobile
Ooh, love the new TTC font.
And unless I'm mistaken, all the falling cards are all the LRR spoiler cards over the years.
Exhausted Elox also bump in the night and some other ones I noticed with old card frames.
Love the intro, but now I'll get nostalgia whenever I watch an old episode.
hoping desperately that Aradara Express is "Thomas the Dank Engine"
That is amazing.
Freighter is Pain Train
I kid you not, had a friend play a dwarf in a campaign as Axebeard Beardaxe. Did not get old.
Wow, already? Posting this before watching, but I'm just impressed with how quickly you got this out!
I thought the joke on Gearseeker Serpent was that it had a-FIN-ity for artifacts. You know, 'cause it's a serpent...with fins.
How did you miss plowshares to swords??? Cultivator of blades...
AHH NEW INTRO
Designed by Jeffery Dahmer
Geoffrey Palmer, but close?
Jeffrey Dahmer was a serial killer, rapist and cannibal. I don't think it's close at all :X
Maybe they're trying to tell us something about Palmer?
New intro, because TTC is becoming a mid-morning opinion program for housewives and the unemployed.
...I thought that music sounded like daytime television
Yeah, different music would probably save it. The current music is almost the definition of "up beat but not too upbeat" day time TV intro music.
The new intro and new graphics are A+
59:37 "Roger, roger" I immediately knew what you meant XD;. ugh, was not expecting to get a laugh out of that one.
I think Ian was distinguishing the "classic" Baron Zemo from the version that was the main antagonist in Captain America: Civil War
"Hit 'em with ur crossbow, steve!" was a joke first made at the BFZ octopus token, in which a tiny little man is aiming at this behemoth of an octopus with a crossbow
I was so confused at the start. I had full screen the view, and had to mouse over to check if it was some kind of video ad at the start!
Ok ok ok. Graham. Skysovereign, Consul Flagship should have been called: "Lightning Boat"
Morbid Curiosity: Hey, what does that button do?
"Dovin Baan" is apparently pronounced like "Dove in Bonn", so I say his nicknamed should be "Emerged in Cologne" (Cologne being just downstream from Bonn on the Rhine).
The "Hit him with with ur crossbow steve" meme stems from the Kiora's 8/8 Octopus token in BFZ.
I figured Aethersquall Ancient was called No Man's Sky because of all the returns.
Woke up to this, thank you. Also happy "Roomba" made it for the Pillar-Bug.
did anyone else notice that in the art for ceremonious rejection, the thing getting rejected is a sliver automaton?
Acrobatic maneuver: Don't look down.
Blooming Marsh: Seuss Swamp
Botanical Sanctum: Scarden.
Creeping Mold: Killdew
Fligree Familiar: lomritomoaton.
Fleetwheel Cruiser: A fast De-fleet.
Hijack: Grand Theft Artifact
Mind Rot: Ink-uisition of Kaladesh.
Syndicate Trafficker : Falkenwrath Artificer
Chandra, the Flame Sculptor.
I was thinking the botanical sanctum could be the simic spa
cbbttoacu Oh, that's better. I was just working off of the scar land cycle and botanical sanctum being a garden.
Ovalchase Dragster = Ethanol Lightning. Because it's a fuel-efficient car with Ball Lightning stats that's sometimes reusable.
deathpyre42 Smuggler's Copter: No Fly List
Wayward Giant: We now know what happened to bridges 1-8. Alternatively, Carry on my Wayward Giant
The second i saw Larger than Life, i started singing it and my girlfriend was super confused. Now we both sing it when one of us plays the card.
Love the new logo and opening! It looks really sweet!
"It has affinity for artifacts" is a great nickname. Because that's what everyone says when they see it, or cast it.
Lovely work as ever folks!
Just thought I'd add 2 that our group is using:
Aetherfllux Capacitor - "Charge the Orbital Death Cannon!"
Filigree Familiar - Happy Dogbot (due to similarities with Solemn Simulacrum as 'Sad Robot')
Shoot him with your crossbow Steve was from Battle for Zendikar, and it is the second most upvoted post on /r/magictcg. There was a followup photoshop from eldritch moon called Shoot her with your crossbow Steve.
This one was logn, but kept me happy the whole time. I've only played magic maybe a half dozen times, but I still enjoyed the nickname jokes. Thanks.
Can we just call Maulfist Doorbuster "Interrupting Cow"? He's too impatient to finish a knock-knock joke.
31:52 Fox can-trip? What about kit-trip?
Fragmentize Should Have been "Welcome to the Hydraulic Press Channel."
I like Dyson because you put all your dice_on it
:O
GET OUT! =P
What's the name of the song they were humming for the module? I want to have that queued up when my module deck goes off.
"Baan, Dovin Baan."
Activated, not triggered.
I'm glad you've gotten everyone else to pile in with nickname suggestions, to follow on from that I want to request nickname podcast by Beej.
And Alex, for Filigree Familiar, maybe Canine-trip?

Well I was going to go to bed at an appropriate time tonight. Not anymore!!
My lgs has been calling Smugglers Copter "Looter Scooter" XD
Just thinking about it, ‘Night Out // Morning After’ is a nickname pair I wish I’d used back in this standard.
Graham called beast boy chameleon boy. a perfect fusion of his two names, beast boy and changeling. Bravo
That was a DEEP Izzard cut. Kudos.
When he said city of gas, I was assuming it was gas city from mad max lol. I know it's city of brass on a stick, but still lol.
did you miss the shadows and eldritch moon nicknames or did I miss those.
The love is real! Thanks for the laughs!
Also: Aethersquall Ancient, you'll will always be Rambunctious Sock Puppet to me...
Loved the "Dome Dome" for the Aetheflux Reservoir.
I'd suggest for the Ghirapur Guide "And we're walking..."
For Welding Sparks "Shake hands with Danger"
For Maulfist Doorbuster "Zak Meatfist is...."
But those are possibly too LRR-centric for some folks to get.
I've heard the fleetwheel cruiser announced as "I'm pulling out of my driveway. We all know what that means..."
New intro is interesting.
I like it, but something just seems a tiny bit off to me. I can't quite place it.
Hey Graham, have you seen the new series of Red Dwarf?
no mention that in the art for Ceremonious Rejection he's rejecting a metallic sliver?
Graham, what's with the PBS sweater?
Loved Nerd Ape. My playgroup calls the Skysoverign, Consul's Flagship 'Yamato' because it reminds us of the ship from Star Blazers.
Love this so much, may I suggest:
Carry on my wayward giant
at 55:25 The use of that card is to return a bunch of zero and one drop artifacts to your hand, and then play them all at once to get a bunch of Aetherworks marvel triggers and then dome your opponent with that 50 life you suddenly have.
Are you doing the nicknames for ather revolt
The Chandra art is so definitely modeled on Kate McKinnon in the new Ghostbusters with that hair and those goggles.
Dhund Operative: whenever you trade "You got dhund in."
Eddie the Eagle, also a Goalie in the NHL about a decade ago.
Thriving Ibex: Thrivin' Ivan!
Also, for the entire cycle, just yell "I've never felt so alive!" When you attack
is a Kor Gamer useful as a subtype if they aren't also an Ally?
Oh god this is going to be great. Obvious ones aside (looter scooter im looking at you) I cant wait to see what you came up with :D
As a Survivor fan, I don't like how the theme song is just the same stock music from Rob Has A Podcast's recap shows.
49:33 Heh, meta
53:10 Snap-keep nickname.
53:23 Her cat is also Ajani, but that barely counts.
54:00 Bronzebeard Speakers. Make a hearthstone reference. Do it.
54:26 "I'm totally loosing this inventor's fair to the guy who submitted that Sol Ring, aren't I?"
56:20 "Ow, that stings!"
57:20 False DUI charges
57:26 "Damnit, why do all these artifacts have calculators built in?" (Joke on old card miscalculation. It bad, I know)
58:56 "I'll triple my Gearhulk please."
1:01:30 Actually, let's got back to 'Make Obselete' and name that one 'unsubscribe servo facts'
1:10:49 "Bzzzt!"
1:10:57 "Why the fuck would anyone license that?"
1:11:46 "Well, I guess I'll get a good prowess card somewhere else then..."
1:14:40 No, you just go "Thopthopthopthopthopthopthopthopthopthopthopthop"
theres also a card named assembly worker, its a 3 man 2/2 that buffs assembly workers
how was cowl prowler not the alaskan bull worm?
Shame that there won't be any kind of SOI block nicknames.
What about the shadows and eldrich moon nicknames? Not mad just curious
Edit: never mind I got it
i am so happy with the return of the nicknames.
37:56 Ill never not believe thats LSV on that card.
Graham, I want you to know that I'm British, and I thought your Eddie the Eagle reference was fantastic, and legit made me lol.
aetherflux reservoir is called the Arcreactor or the Deathstar where i play
I thought Eager Construct was Party Scry? That's what everyone said at the pre-prerelease.
FYI, Zemo was also the main villain in Captain America: Civil War. He was the guy who framed Bucky, killed Black Panthers dad and got everyone fighting.
Thumbs up if you remember that DS9 episode.
First appearance of Sisko's beard.
First appearance of Sisko's beard.
Shouldn't Metalwork Colossus be the Megazord?
Also, Aradara Express has menace because of multi-track drifting.
Did I miss the nickname show for Shadows and Eldrich Moon
We all did :(
Holy bus that new intro is awesome!
With the printing of Mishra's self replicator you can FINALLY HAVE A GOOD TARGET FOR SELF-ASSEMBLER
No call to Sad Fox? or Solemn Foxulactrum?
Did you see the animation for it? It's even cuter when it moves, if even just for a split second.
noooo D: linkplz
Is it bad that I get the Renegade Tactics nickname?
Pretty much everyone in my local gaming store, and a fair few randoms at GP London, just call Impeccable Timing "Suddenly Ajani".
Skywhale shot always tends to be met with singing of "We're whalers on the moon" (from Futurama ep. 1/2)
Someone might've already pointed this out, but I thought that the reason Chandra's face is a bit strange on Diabolic Tutor is because it's trying to resemble the M14 art.
What you called the high-wind, the consoles airship i called "bolt boat".
I feel like Chandras pyrohelix should just be called "Chandra's(trademark symbol) forked bolt". reason being, it's like forked bolt but we need to pay an extra mana for the licensing of Chandra's name.
I would've gone with Hulk Splash for the blue one, but it's hard to dispute the actual nick.
Oh because Torrential. That's pretty good
Any special reason for the intro change?
Aradara Express = Pain Train
Appetite for the unnatural = Pica (the eating disorder where you eat things that aren't edible)
Eddytrail Hawk = (aether)storm crow
Torrential Gearhulk = Fatcaster Mage
love aetherstorm crow and fatcaster mage! XD
Why wouldn't blue Gearhulk be "HULK FLASH!"?
reasons, i guess. Fatcaster Mage sounds better to me.
Aether Hub = Tendo Aether Bridge.
37:36 : I think a good one for this would just be "Groovy." (See Ash getting his replacement hand in Army of Darkness)
I heard fillagree familiar was Pelakka pup. also aetherstorm roc can be the rocking robin
The only referance I can find is in a 2003 supplement Dwarves of Middle-earth, the Dwarf lords and their houses are Durin Linnar Sindri Thulin Uri Var and Vigdis.
Why not Blightning Helix?
THERE! At 21:07! I saw your mouse cursor. It cannot be unseen from the world.
Die young = mo(u)rning after. I immediately went to an abortion joke, which I think is a lot darker than what you meant.
Praise Abort!
I also thought it was an abortion joke and was like "Wow, the first day after conception? That IS really young." Then they went somewhere totally different.
Same here. Then I was like, there's NO WAY Graham is making that joke, but it does sound like it.
I was searching pretty hard for an alternate interpretation.
My nicknames:
Demolition Stomper - Wild Wild West
Long-finned skywhale - & a bowl of petunias
Oh god, not again.
