The driver literally almost ended her life. The dad has to do way better as well as the driver because he is the one driving the weapon capable of killing people. How do you see this in any other way?
This is a prime example of a couple things. The importance of a dash cam, and the importance of keeping your kids in a fenced yard or holding onto them when not looking at them.
My dad hit and killed an 11-year-old kid back in the 90s because the kid ran right out in front of the vehicle, just like this girl did, in a 45-mph zone while my dad was at the speed limit. What happened was the kid's friends were on the other side of the street and kept telling him to run across, and he made a fatal error in judgment in even being able to make it. There was no way my dad could've stopped or slowed down in time to avoid the kid. My dad was initially charged and the parents tried to sue him, but all of that was dropped in court because there were witnesses and he was found not at-fault. If he didn't have those witnesses who were honest, that could've ended completely differently.
Forced my mother to get a dashcam (by buying it for her, installing it, and setting it up to be easy to operate) She was against it because she hasnt been in an accident or pulled over in 20 years. 1 week later someone T-Bones her and claims she ran a red. Dash cam shut that down on the scene, and saved her months of headache. Please get a dashcam. Edit for clarification on the accident: Light was green for 2 full seconds on camera, mother coasted through intersection, car from her passenger side came from a right turn only lane running through the red and hit her in the front passenger side tire. From the damage they guessed he was going about 40mph, never hit the breaks, was looking down at the time of the accident. Dash cam actually caught his face clear enough through the windshield to show he wasnt looking at the road.
Good to know people are willing to lie about something they didn't even see, that Dashcam really did save his life. The people who lied should be charged to the max
He's wrong about the father though, he had his back turned to open the gate and the kid just happened to run at that moment. the guy was going 40, which is pretty fast for a residential area with poor vision because of all the cars. and the dad didnt really go out of his way to hit the car on his way to his daughter, it was like a split second difference at most. In South Korea is national law that every car that leaves the factory already has a dashcam installed, capable of recording, and police sometimes can ask for that footage, it's very useful and nobody stresses over little accidents or colisions that are harmless, because it is all record anyway
Im german and I would love to have that. Sadly there are so many privacy laws that forbid such installments. Officially dash cam videos cannot be brought up as evidence in court. I believe there should always be exceptions to rules.
@@unorevers7160 The one rule I know of where I live is regarding leaving the dashcam inside the car while not driving because it can be considered as a recording device of the public. it's as if you just left your phone all night in the car recording the streets. @unorevers7160 wouldn't seeing with your eyes and your memories of them technically also count? Makes the rule feel like someone just didn't want to own up to their mistake and decided that if it ever happend to them at least there won't be dashcam footage of them
@@unorevers7160 as far is i know, they can be used as evidence in court. But it is then up to the jury to decide whether you just violated the privacy laws or not. In other words, its a gamble where sometimes its allowed and sometimes not. You also need a certain type of dashcam. You cant have one that permanently records and saves video material. It needs to be one that constantly overwrites old material. If you then had an accident, you take out the sd card, so the footage doesnt get overwritten. It is also not allowed to share the footage with the public or upload it to the internet.

My older sister is getting a dashcam because of an accident she go into. My sister was on her way home from shopping, she was at a stop sign near a corner where you can’t really see much if someone is coming from the left corner. She did a full stop checked both her left and right it was clear she had the right of way, as soon as she pull out of the stop sign a car comes flying around 35 mph which the speed limit for the corner is 25 mph. So he hits her head on, he bounces of her car and hits a light poll, her car got damage to the point of no repairs, her insurance went up because she didn’t have a dash cam and was at fault even thought she followed the laws. A few months come by and she gets sued because “she didn’t have the right away and that the driver who caused the accident was seeking compensation for his injury’s. This law suit was all because he didn’t have a seat belt on. So if your gonna own a car be sure to have a dash cam to save the trouble from law suit and increased insurance bills.
That happened to my mom when she was younger. They said it was her friend’s fault (who was driving) because she shouldn’t have pulled out with a car coming. Never mind the fact the guy was absolutely flying around a turn and the car had the damage to show for it!

Yea, I don't even think 1% of people could stop that fast given all the parked cars and lack of visibility. Top athlete's and pro gamer's reaction times are fast but they know what to expect and what's coming before hand.
what's really crazy is, that the dashcam is normally either in the middle or slightly to the right of the place your rear view mirror hangs from - that means the camera was able to capture the girl before this friggin hero was even able to and he still reacted as quick as he did
2:09 The reason being distracted while driving is ALWAYS dangerous... you never know when the jump scare comes, that half a second to see what radio station you're changing to could be deadly.
Absolutely. A guy started to swerve head-on into our lane at 50 mph but thank god my fiancé was able to swerve into the feild on time, otherwise we would definitely be dead. Driving is no joke

As a father of twin boys, I have had to stop them from running in the road more than once... even though I was right there and nothing happened, it scared the **** out of me... I can't even imagine what could have happened if I weren't supervising.
Saw this on Reddit about 20 minutes ago and I have to say it again: The fact that the first reaction of this "parent" was to lash out and immediately put the blame on anyone and everyone else by attacking the car instead of checking on their daughter says a lot.
This should be a lesson on looking both ways before crossing. I see so many adults that just assume cars will magically stop for them. I know this was a kid but by the way the dad and others reacted shows that too many people think pedestrians are never in the wrong and can walk wherever / whenever they want.
interesting thing is Australia's residential roads are 50km by default. They are only 40km around schools or when sign posted otherwise. So the fact that he was going 40km or so meant he was already being very mindful of the conditions
I’m in Orlando and during the pandemic the traffic started getting crazy. Then the world along with it started getting crazy. Got a dash cam in 2021 and it’s the best investment I made. A lot of insurance companies are starting to give discounts if you have a dash cam now and even integrate with some dash cam companies. I use a nexar cam that can send video straight to my insurance company if they need it. I highly recommend getting one.
What I like so much about this channel is that if any other channel was talking about how important dashcams are they would then follow that up with a dashcam they are selling. This channel is just purely about helping people avoid bad situations without regard to whether it makes the channel money or not.
I mean sponsors usually go along with some type of discount, so even though he might make money, it'll help someone who wants to buy one more than him not. He would also need a partnership to even make money off of selling a dash cam just for a random video

10000% agreed as soon as you said "dash cam". Aside from incidents like this, it can save you from insurance scams [people throwing themselves on the front of your car and saying you hit them, cutting in front of you to slam on t he brakes and claim you were tailgating, etc.] as well as liars, or confusing situations where nobody ACTUALLY knows what happened and a camera can reveal the truth. I had an accident where I was in a 3-lane circle [very dumb road design]. I was in the outermost lane, and another car was in the middle lane. This guy decided to exit from the middle lane and hit me. He then accuses me of turning into him, and when the cops come up, claim I was speeding and passing him on the shoulder [there WAS no shoulder, I'd have been driving sideways on a hill!]. I was calm and he was flipping out, and the cop believed my consistent story and did not believe his flamboyant and outlandish, inconsistent story. He got a citation. However, he contested everything with the insurance, which could have been a long, drawn out process... but I sent them my dashcam, clearly showing him turning into me and my speed [19mph in a 25], as well as being in the proper lane and maintaining that lane. They closed the case and thanked me for my time. Dash cams are incredible and I agree, everyone with a car should have one!
There is already a push to lower speed limits in resident streets in Australia to 30km/h. In that regard, there should also be a push to mandate built-in dashcams for vehicles.
I don't blame the dad for acting like that because, to be fair, that is their kid. But making shit up to have an exude of not paying attention to your own kid? Yeah nah. That's called being a bitch.
cars parked on the sides of the streets is and has always been a huge issue. it may be the only option some places but it causes immense line of sight problems. as a former bicycle messenger in australia I can say this was my biggest hazard day to day- i was always loud on my bell whenever passing parked cars as people LOVE to come sprinting out from between them as this little girl did.
Not proud to admit i probably wouldn't have stopped in time. I catch myself glancing too far from my car to notice a child that close. Noted to be more aware like this guy though
ditto, not shameful, just normal. it gave me the notion to be more aware though, like you said, but we're definitely not insane for not having as good a reaction time as the guy.
@@evil7011At that point the car is going to react as quickly as a human. Cars automatic braking is more effective when it sees you approaching a hazard from a distance and many cars don’t AEB unless over a certain speed like 55mph. Under that it just beeps to alert you. Others do the opposite and AEB between 5-55mph. There isn’t anyway of knowing as Toyota doesn’t specify clearly for each and every model.
Got a dash cam a couple years ago and it’s already had its use. Helped people in accidents, avoided tickets from lying cops, and is your insurance life line.
I’m 23 and have never owned a vehicle but I own my drivers license and have been saying this same thing for years. Evidence is so overwhelmingly important to have when it comes to accidents.
Love and agree with the dashcam point and this guy is an amazing and attentive driver but that little beep beep beep I am pretty sure means it also activated collision avoidance emergency braking stuff so that also deserves a shout out. She would be significantly less hurt even with a distracted driver, unless I’m incorrect and the system can make the noise as an alert only. Either way it’s awesome to see attentive drivers I’m glad he had his cam
There are so many narcissistic people out there than I realized. I'm old enough now to expect narcissism from people and am surprised when they are more in favor of other people rather than themselves. Everyone wants to be right, and everyone wants to be a hero.
The father should be grateful the responsibility of the driver saved what could have been a fatality due to his negligence. The father is the problem, no question, not the driver.
I’m inspired now to get my dash cams looked up again in car! I’m glad that little girl was ok! That was hard to watch! Respect to the driver! The dad owes a huge apology and thanks to that driver!
Also make sure you have both front dash camera and rear view camera!!!!! I was a victim of a hit and run when I was rear ended on the highway when the person that hit me reversed back and took the exit behind me. I was startled and stumbled out my car without getting a chance to remember the license plate number and my forward dash camera was no help in this incident.
Agree with Charlie, i write estimates on the insurance side of the industry now and it's ridiculous how often people lie to avoid paying their deductible even when the facts of loss based on damage are obvious.
Tesla comes pre-installed with like several cameras on the outside including the sides, the rear, and the front. Plus it has an interior camera. This can all be used for insurance purposes and for proof. Plus the sentry mode feature which is there by default acts like security cameras for your Tesla when your car is parked.
In my country there was a similar happening, which sadly ended with the driver beaten to death in front of his two little children. The victim was also a little child, but was not injured. It was obviously a huge case, and even though a dashcam wouldn't prevent the beatings, it could have help to get stricter prison sentences for the perpetrators. This happened before dashcams tho, but these can happen even today. So get a dashcam, and watch for your children!
Literally the first thing I bought after buying a car, in UK insurance companies even encourages you to have a dash cams, whilst in some EU countries its banned due to privacy laws.

That’s actually crazy, here where I live little to no people have it 😭

I believe there should always be exceptions to rules.
@@unorevers7160 The one rule I know of where I live is regarding leaving the dashcam inside the car while not driving because it can be considered as a recording device of the public. it's as if you just left your phone all night in the car recording the streets.

It was obviously a huge case, and even though a dashcam wouldn't prevent the beatings, it could have help to get stricter prison sentences for the perpetrators. This happened before dashcams tho, but these can happen even today. So get a dashcam, and watch for your children!
Brother, where do you live??
Literally the first thing I bought after buying a car, in UK insurance companies even encourages you to have a dash cams, whilst in some EU countries its banned due to privacy laws.
Ppl are weak if they think their privacy is not protected lol, snowflakes
How can your privacy be protected when you're fucking outside near a road where a car will be? Some places in Europe, not even once.
is it bubble gum pink and aundder 14?
@@frits191true true, america is horrible if it's about privacy.
The only EU country to my knowledge that banned dashcams is Luxembourg
Charlie watching ACA, you bloody legend. Bringing this Aussie to tears ❤
YES! Just got my first car, and the very first thing I did was get a dashcam so I could relive the moment when all those pedestrians were sucked under my car at 80mph!
(the first half is true)
Oh yeah, the classic angry parent 2:45 after its own mistake
