CROWS Remote Machine Gun System - Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station

- The U.S. Army is receiving a weapon technology known as the CROWS, allowing the gunner with the ability to acquire and engage targets while inside a vehicle, protected by its armor. The CROWS stands for Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station, mounted to the top of a vehicle, equipped with daytime and thermal cameras, able to rotate 360 degrees, see up to 1,500 meters away, and compatible with four major crew weapon systems. It is designed to mount on a variety of vehicle platforms and supports the Mk 19 grenade launcher, M2 .50 Caliber Machine Gun, M240B Machine Gun, and M249 Squad Automatic Weapon. I remember seeing this back in 2006-2008 in Future Weapons and it took 10 years after seeing that just for CROWS to finally see US military adoption. I have to wonder, why the long delay to finally put it in front line service?
It was developed in Australia, the drop bears where on strike at the time.
Just to steal more taxpayers money
I used the system in 2012 Afghanistan.
Great system! Used it downrange
U can operate the weapon systems. Even by mobile phone. Sitting thousands of miles away from the battlefield
if only the reload could be done from the inside it would save allot of lifes...
Weapon systems of the coming future.
maybe ballistics glass layer for the optic/camera would be better
And for non military uses. Self driving cars SUVs and trucks. By remotely operated device or by AI robotics machine. Dual command. By remote controlled operating system or by AI
so cool
1:45 LoL. "its so accurate it shoots low 95% of the time"
Does it use gyroscopes to keep level?
These things are awesome when they actually work. They break α lot
Remote controlled MBT..
Cool video and all but im sitting here in my matv trying to figure how tf to get it to calibrate and there aint no instructional videos anywhere
Did you ever find it
When gamers start to serve as the gunner
Beautiful!! Would be even better if it was a Mini gun. Like off the movie Terminator 2. Those things would hold allot more Ammunition.
how can it reload?
to reload someone has to go outside and reload?
Gyroscope.. gyration.. stabilize gun.
What about a M1126 Stryker vs BTR-82A.
How do you become a crows gunner?I mean what asvab score so you need
There is no way to guarantee becoming a CROWS gunner because there is no mos for it. Your best bet would be to go infantry then you would have to get sent to a unit that has them. I'm pretty sure strykers have them or something similar as well as mount some Delta companies in light infantry battalions. Even if you get to a unit that has them they still might not make you a gunner but as far as asvab there is no requirement.
Like a hunter HMG in ArmA 3
Your safe until you have to reload that sucker or it jams?
studinthemaking or someone shoots the optics's!
has a auto wracker to charge the gun if need be and you can retreat to do field repairs, hard cover will work
large box, normal rounds for a m2 is 100 rounds per can, that thing holds atleast 250 rounds if not 500 of 12.7, and less ammo is used since its far more accurate
it can also be operated from outside the vehicle
the big boxes like that usually are 1000 rounds, its the same size as the minigun ammo cans and those hold 1k rounds
rodney100100 with 762 but not 12.7
Or they shoot out your optics
Imagine this in The Wall with Mexico.
then america is going to spend at least a couple of million dollars to put this up and will be in even more debt then ask for money from its allies
You have just read my mind. But they should be automatic sentry guns.
Kyle Johnson And a lot of mines.
That would be able to scare a crap load of them out of America!
On
HOW IS IT GOING TO DAMP THE VIBRATIONS
HOW IS IT ELIMINATING THESE HIGH FREQUENCY DISTURBANCES
?
gyroscopic stability
Sounds great and all but what I don't get is how are you going to reload that thing when it's empty if your goal is to keep soldiers out of harms way aren't they gonna have to go out their and manually reload it ?
Wilfred Bremley I worked on these at AIT in fort Lee. they hold a ridiculous amount of ammo depending on if it's a saw, m240, m2, or the grenade launcher. they vary.
Caleb Walls That's a Go Ordnance!
@@calebwalls6107 400 .50 rounds is not a ridiculous amount you will need to reload.
@@Rangerclan1 well considering .50 is used mainly as suppressive fire it's enough to get you out of a shitty situation. I have not used one in combat though so I cannot assure you it's enough.
Worst case: retreat, throw a smoke grenade to cover the reloader, then back to the fight.
When people use gun recoil
Da cars no recoil
Still too high profile tbh.
I sure hope they're taking good care of our troops too!(Marines first in line ) The few, yet very brave.🙏🇺🇸❤️
You mean terrorists & war criminals, they need to suffer for their crimes and so will you
@@MrShirial sir, this is a youtube comment section, if you have a problem with the military actions of the government you should call your representatives in congress, if you dont have any then please stay in your lane
