The only review I couldn't find from that run is the first Mad Max, unfortunately
And for those who've watched all of these, I'm sure you're tired of seeing their review for the Twilight Zone movie, but it has four directors, so I approach each episode as though this is the first or only one someone has seen. I did cut it a tad differently this time, though, to focus more on Miller's segment

Siskel and Ebert would've fuckin loved Fury Road 😔
It's been rumored that Miller is a ghost director on the first Babe movie. There was a lot of hesitation from the studios of having the Mad Max guy make a children's film
I believe he stepped down because he got the chance to start developing Contact (he ended up getting convinced to walk away from it for Zemeckis to take over). He handed over 10 years of development to Chris Noonan, who got upset after the whole thing because Miller kept getting all the credit.
Hollywood and their typecasting never gets old
After seeing Furiosa this week I was hoping you'd post a George Miller comp!
Great collection. I always loved that they liked "Thunderdome". Its lighter tone and Spielbergian feel is much different than the first two films and I know that Miller, himself, doesn't like it, as it was a deeply troubled production, but I've always loved it for what it is. Miller's always said that the Max films are all basically stand-alone films with no real chronology (apart from the first two) and as such, "Thunderdome" feels the most like the comic book version of Max and that's fine to me, as viewed on its own, it's just hugely entertaining. Yes, the final battle is a bit of a letdown compared to "The Road Warrior" and I think the film could have benefited by having Auntie Entity be more of a sincere villain and that it led to a crazier final chase (I've never had an issue with the lost children story, as some people do; I think it's great) - but the film has such a fun spirit that's just hard for me to not love it for what it is. Do I prefer the more serious Max of the first two films and "Fury Road"? Sure. But I'll watch "Thunderdome" any time it's on.
As a kid, I use to watch the last 15 minutes of The Witches of Eastwick on video tape over and over again, never have actually seen the whole movie. Same with the airplane sketch in The Twilight Zone movie.. Course I did the same with the Road Warrior and Beyond Thunderdome but watched them all the way through a dozen times. George Miller was the king (maybe still is) of action sequences. As Fury Road is the best action movie of all time.
Siskel & Ebert is like part of my viewing diet. I gotta watch at least 3 full episodes of them every week. Even though I don't always agree with them. But they'll always be the Kings of Movie Critics.
They would've loved Fury Road. Also, sadly I think Pig in the City was one of, if not the last review from Siskel.
I miss these 2 so much. The world of movies is so shit right now we need them now more than ever
