Thanks for these compilations. I used to watch this show regularly and enjoyed it more than most movies 🎥. I miss these guys. They were insightful and fun. Those were good days I am fond of still. Thanks!
At first, I was wary of this, as the other compilations concerned films by a particular director---but in a wonderful surprise, this is a rare gem in which entertainment media discusses the Ramis-Reitman-Landis-Hughes-SNL-SCTV comedy film continuum, an era roughly spanning 15 years, from “Animal House” to “Groundhog Day,” that brought together a master class of writers, directors, producers, and actors (amazingly enough, pretty much all the recurring actors in these films came from sketch-comedy TV). Ebert alludes to the continuum in passing during the “Ghostbusters” segment, referring to the “National Lampoon-Second City-Saturday Night Live dialogue” in the script. I just wish more analysis on this collaborative era would be done.
Just gotta add that his 2005 film The Ice Harvest is at least in my opinion, his best directorial effort besides Groundhog Day. Shame it didn't get more love at the time.
That “ohhhkay” from Ebert in response to his guest host’s opinions of “Analyze This”… is my favorite moment.

I recommend the book "Wild and crazy guys". It's exactly that.
What?

The date from Caddyshack says 1980, but it's clearly later since they mention Ghostbusters
It's referring to the movie not the clip. I've gone back and forth on this a couple times, so I understand the confusion
I’m surprised they didn’t like multiplicity. I thought it was hilarious.

As Good As it Gets?
Ramis acted in it, but didn't write or direct it.
