I just wanted to let you know I took your advice and the problem has been completely fixed! No more knocking noise dead quiet! Thank you again so very much!
I had the same thing done at my local shop. I’m pretty sure they did both sides. But the clunk is back I’m in Northern California leaving to drive back to Florida. Great timing and it should have been recalled long ago mine is a 2018 less then 40k miles. You helped me just so you know.
I think mines is doing the same thing? Is this clunking noise happens whenever you turn into up hill drive ways? Or when you turn into a road that it’s uneven?
@@Invrexs im in the same boat as you man. I love my ZL1, ive already gone FBO but it shakes a lot. Makes weird noises and its still a 2019 with low mileage…..
Thanks for the video. I did the exact same thing using race ramps on my 1LE. Torquing to spec is not easy in those tight spaces! I'm never taking my car to Chevy again and never buying a Chevy again for this reason alone. That being said, the car is a dream to drive at this price point.
786tech Ya, this shouldn’t happen on a new car. I think that every car company has problems, some more than others for sure. The performance is absolutely amazing though like you said.
Mines making tjay noise now to they told me to replace the links , but I see many people with this problem , so good video but how does the washer fix the problem? Also can u drop a link for the washers
Did this solve the problem? Have you had to go back and re-check / torque the nuts again? Thanks for a great video...Especially considering you had to hold the camera while doing the work. Awesome!!!
Hey camaro community, I've got a 86 camaro with 350/350 set up. I'm having a hell of a clunking noise going into drive and reverse but no noise driving. I checked the u-joints and they don't seem that bad (as bad as any ujoint with some miles on it, not alot of play though) and I've checked all the rear suspension and tourqe arm. I had a loose panhard bar (the sideways bar from body to axel) but that only fixed the very faint side to side noise it had on the road. Not my "going into gear" clunk. I haven't had my diff cover off yet, but I'm guessing some rear end slop maybe? Someone relocated the 3link bar, and I can watch the trans yolk slightly move in and out of Trans tailshaft, which seems strange.the bracket has 2 slots for adjustment, should I degree the pulley and housing first and see if pinion angle is correct? Before I take cover off? This noise is driving me nuts, I'm sadly not that familiar with the 3 link set up, I'm really having an issue tracking it down. Has anyone else had this issue? TIA
(Also: car clocks straight. You can let go of the wheel and it'll go straight down the road. No bumping, no wretched noises, all is good other than the horrendous clunk going from park to drive or reverse. Neutral is fine. It seems to be when the car changes momentum from front to back when it does this. No other time, no other issues,.car shifts immaculately and smooth so it's not a bad Trans unless the spline is bad... Ugh... it's driving me crazy!)
What is the clunking noise created from moving the steering wheel from right to left primarily when not moving at speed? Having that problem right now on my 2011. It’s been driving me nuts trying to figure it out.
Thats the strut bearings if you are having the issue when you turn the wheel also. They fixed mine on my 2018 ss 1le but the noise came back in 2 weeks. Now I have to take my car back.
Wow That's a lot of tools. For my Lexus all I need is a Jack, Jack stands, impact wrench, 14mm socket/wrench, torq wrench, locking pliers and maybe some wd40
@@allenbotimer871 well actually mine sounds off when I take off on a smooth surfaced road when I take off slowly you won't hear it and strangely enough ya don't hear it every time I take off
So how have the washers held up now that you had them on for a couple months? I have the clunking now and plan on retorquing the bolts but I'm wondering if the washers are worth it
Can you please share what parts to buy. 2012 rs package and have the day thump clunck noise when I hit small bumps. Thank you very much for the video and the know how. Appreciate the reply.

Thank you for this post. It was very helpful and saved me a shop visit!!
Thanks a bunch for this it save me a lot of time!
Helped me forsure 🙏🏻
What could happen if you continued to drive without addressing this issue? Asking for a friend

I having the same issue
I hate camaros now lol. Only good thing about my zl1 is the engine. Thats it. I absolutely hate everything else about it
Yes mine does the same😭
I wish I can hear the noise to compare

I think I have the same clanking noise on my 6 gen SS, but the shop I went to said it was my "strut" Could It just be the same as yours?
It’s most likely the links
Thanks, was a lot of help👍👍

Sounds like the rear end to me 😮

The noise occurred while going over small bumps. I never noticed it while turning the steering wheel. Sorry

Did you ever get it fixed?
Any updates ?
How much does Chevy charge to fix this?

Where did you get the Nordlock washer?
Would have loved to hear the actual sound...
If you replace the whole sway bar will you still have this problem?
THANK YOU!!!!!!!
So did it work did the clunking sound go away
How many GM #11548382 do you need? Is it two or four nuts?
What Nordlock washer part number did you use?
You can see (hopefully) the part number at 1:33 in the video. Hope that helps
Is it like a knocking sound? That's what mine sounds like
Yes, knocking sound over bumps at lower speeds

They’ve held up just fine. I’ve put a few thousand miles on my car since i installed them and have had no problems
