Damn this just solved an issue I've been having. I typically go for the Kimura when they get the underhook but good guys can push me on my head without much base which makes it a coinflip. Qlso Otherwise, sometimes they butterfly your hips and can take the back. I try to go for double underhooks but that far underhook is essential. This solves a major issue of not having that far underhook. The concept of going to the side that you don't have the underhook is simple but illuminating.
Just for fun- one good counter to this is to lock up the same body lock Gordon shows, but do it as the bottom fighter. You can use it to set up Gordon's favorite butterfly sweep, or with proper head position you can use it to stand up. Usually with a lockdown or butterfly hook you can toss your opponents hips enough to allow a shrimp. From the shrimp you can reguard or stand up. If you can wrestle well you should be able to coyote sweep or stand up. Underhooks are so powerful.
"You put more pressure on your wrist by turning palm down but you also put more pressure on your opponent, it's a lot more uncomfortable." Proceeds to go palm down to demonstrate a technique on his gf.
Haven’t tried this yet. But wondering if once you post your head, would your opponent be able to just roll you over since your base is just your head way up high?
I'd like to see the partner do it to GR now. Because he is about 3 times as broad as her and frankly that's the position I usually find myself in. It's not so pleasant to have some big guy on top of your arm/hands/wrist. I'm not hating because this is a great pass but is it a great pass on someone way bigger than you?
It wouldn't make any sense because if you have the far-side underhook, you're gonna need to pass to the opposite side. Whatever side your underhook is on, you want to pass to the other side. So for example, if you have an underhook on the far side, you'll start knee cutting, tripod passing (so you can step over their hook), or you could transition right to mount but that's more risky.
Yes. Lachlan's Bodylock Pass series demonstrates this. It's pretty much the same thing as in this video but lots of details on actually opening up their figure-four and freeing your leg.
That is the best way to nullify dogfight but the guy with the whizzer can still win the dogfight position, for instance, triangles are unstoppable from dogfight if you have the overhook.
They can't sweep because you have their upper body pinned down with that body lock. They might be able to try and butterfly sweep, or lockdown sweep, but as long as you keep thier upper body down, they won't have enough leverage. Great escape.
i force 1/2 guard just to get the darce if i dont get ezekiel, arm triangle or shoulder locks from mount i’ll step back into 1/2. i never sit to armbar or triangle. darce is almost certain for me. though i never do it over and over but def is A game technique when other stuff isn’t hitting
Thank God people like you exist. What would all these fighters losing by submission do if it wasn't for your divine blessing of offering simple solutions to a problem they dedicate entire training camps specifically to counter it? Now all wrestlers and Jiu Jitsu fighters will retire from MMA since you exposed the greatest weakness of their craft.
Yeah okay. he could also do as he pleased with you if he was in front of you, and you could do nothing to stop him. who's the man and who's the infant in that situation?
He learned from the best and great students look and sound like their teacher. A sign of a good teacher
The cadence and at the style of talking is so much like Professor Danaher. "Okay"
He sounds almost exactly like Danaher explaining a technique.
I actually prefer Gordon explaining stuff, he's more concise and to the point
That's what I thought too
The mannerism are uncanny. They blink the same amount as well
"Virtually Identical"
zelipapa84 Gordon is great, but I just love John’s theoretical in depth ramblings.
The body lock is so dominant. I'm all about it.
Very applicable and well explained, reminded me of his coach as he was teaching
Amazing details. Enjoying Gordon’s technique videos. Easy to follow instruction.

Excellent detail on the wrist injury
A critical line is missing at the start:
‘I’m here with Gordon, huuuge honour for me’
The King and Nat. Grapplings royal couple!!! Great vid. Mahaloz! 🤙
I just saw this one on Brian Peterson's channel too. Nice!
Brian taught it as moving to mount or side control. Both work well though.
Exceptional instruction! Thank you for posting and development!!

Pretty sure I hear her struggling to breath at parts here too 😂
Brilliant Technique! Thank You King and BJJ Fanatics!!!
I love the wrist pain detail 👌
Thanks for the good technique. Lucky to have such a partner. Incredible legs!
Why would you want to pass her guard?
Mike Michaels it’s apart of the process to take the back, which is a better.... position.
@@chijaytavaakachija1513 You completely missed the joke lol
@@ronaldt1932 no, I think you missed Chijatava's joke...
@@B.H.Taylor oops!
@@ronaldt1932 come on man, this is an advanced technique, lol.
2:25 why go to side control instead of full mount?
Wonder the same. Reckon its cause your arms already trapped, ready to be rolled
I wonder if you can go straight into mount from this pass 😀
Thanks
Thankyou !!!
curious if gordans back attacking now is more advanced than the dvd john put out he owns guys from th e back i wana see his technique details
1:26 What’s the point to pass her guard and go side control either than mount ?
As a novice, I would guess it’s because she has an overhook making it hard to base out with your hands if you take mount
Haven’t tried this yet. But wondering if once you post your head, would your opponent be able to just roll you over since your base is just your head way up high?
As in, right before you plant your right knee.
When will this dvd be released?
Release date? :-)

I will try it to next sparring.
He is the next John Danaher
Shafi Alam he’s not bald enough
Can you still do this without your opponent underhooking you?

@@charlesbell5500 I hear you, but if you have the bodylock you can pass to either side, assuming they don't have an overhook on your "far side" arm.
Great way to nullify any attempt to dogfight
That is the best way to nullify dogfight but the guy with the whizzer can still win the dogfight position, for instance, triangles are unstoppable from dogfight if you have the overhook.
@@jehkjshrfk Yeah, it's definitely less risky.
I feel like I would get swept doing cross side passes. Will experiment with this though.
They can't sweep because you have their upper body pinned down with that body lock. They might be able to try and butterfly sweep, or lockdown sweep, but as long as you keep thier upper body down, they won't have enough leverage. Great escape.
Still cant see the product at bjj fanatics
lincoln c not out yet. He’s actually filming bonus material so most likely next week.
I'm gonna buy this even if it costs me my kidney just to see my partners face in that bodylock!
Who's the chik?
Heysonny ; )
Sup bitch
I would definitively allow that female specimen in particular do some guard retention on me. Good video too!
My only problem was that a couple times I tried this i ended up in guard

Better than a sweaty man with hair behind his knees.
Never let em on you just keep punching them in the face.

Just realized he has child sized hands. Body of a man, hands of an infant
Yeah okay. he could also do as he pleased with you if he was in front of you, and you could do nothing to stop him. who's the man and who's the infant in that situation?
That's so he can better insert his fist in you after pinning you
How in the hell does he have child-sized hands?! They look very proportional to his frame.
he just wanted an excuse to hug on her
Fun fact - this is exactly technique widely used by Japanese women national Judo team in A lvl tournaments.
Links to footage? Would love to see.
fake technique doesnt work
Gordon Ryan is overrated and a bad teacher I prefer danaher or Stefan
