I was a artillery mechanic in the Marines.
Looks like the , M-19er8. Looks like their shooting a small charge. Maybe powderbags charge 2 or 3.

Artillery is still the most cost-effective heavy weapon system on the battlefield and I do not think that will ever change.

Firing's the fun part. Cleaning the howitzer afterwards, now that's a different story.
TheBigHase Cold, Mud, Heavy Rain! Light rain is ok mid heat with expend all ammo! Keeps you cooled off have to be careful not to slip though and keep hands dry.
TheBigHase been there dine that. I’d do it again.
@TheBigHase in the army the pain is the pleasure . Just think of it ,there are 7 billion people in the world and not everyone gets to fire a military artillery ! If you think on the bright side , every second in the army can be enjoyable
Clean my gun 08, otherwise I'll take your elevation handwheel and you can ratchet the bitch up. Also stop breakin my damn Whiskey 3s
No need to clean it afterward, they sell it to Arabs
Not sure if it's real or not, but the old Marine growling, "FIRE", over the comms was the best part.
Funnel Cakes Sounds like its straight from a video game. That man was born for the job
It does sound like it's right out of a video game lol.
@Funnel Cakes they talk like that so everyone can here them, it’s definitely real.

I served in the korean army back in 2006 to 2008 (ROK army, 5th infantry div., field artillery), and we did 1 joint training while i was in service (I’m sure there were more, but i had the privilege and honor of just one). Although the US military is world renown, all of the guys that i interacted with were just so down to earth and humble. I felt as if the US military guys were like my brothers. I have immense respect for those of you in service. Thank you for being our friend.
I was 0311 over there in that wreck, I had no idea you guys did so much work to send the shells our way. We used to call you guys every time we got into trouble. Thank you guys for keeping us safe

My grandfather was in the Royal Navy from just before WW2 in 1939 to 1946 & was on the Heavy Cruiser HMS Collingwood with nine 12 inch guns, 6 fore and 3 aft each shell weighed ⅓ of a ton and when the ship fired a broadside of all 9 guns at full elevation the whole ship would tilt over 45°, and that would actually deafen you if you didn't have your battle stations ear defender's.

The US military should always upkeep their howitzers and continue to improve them. Cause I heard that less and less money is being put into artillery. Artillery can change the course of a battle of save American life’s if used correctly. Plus it’s cool as hell.
Gotta love them cannon cockers when you're in a tight spot on the ground. RVN 68-72.
AWESOME FIREPOWER!!!LOVE IT!!!
Grande Exército Americano muito bom excelente profissional parabéns pelo vídeo 👏👏👏
The artilleryman coolness factor is the most underappreciated one
Seeing these kinda helmets firing them kinda rounds really brings back old good memories :’)
0:30 Get out the way !! 😂😂
Perhaps it's just me, but some of the movements of the soldiers seems extremely smooth. Especially on the opening ten or so seconds, as the reloading sequence takes place, it has an unreal feel with the way the soldiers are moving. Perhaps it's just the recorded frame rate or some other mundane explanation.
Jack R
I notice what you are saying. It’s not the recording device though. It’s just the look of marines who have done this thousands of times. Do just about anything thousands of repetitions you’ll probably look smooth too. They’re good at their job 👍🏼
Well at 0:30 they struggle with loading the shell, and to prove how perfectly coordinated they are right after that you can hear someone say: get out of the way lol
Hoorahh boys!!! Great job!!!

there is something beautiful with artillery fire

3:25 .... send it .... 2 shells
I love that they fire it by pulling a big string really really hard. It's like a pop gun. A Really really really big pop gun.
Some call it heavenly in its brilliance
I friend's enlisting in the army in an artillery battalion. So while I'm probably going to be in college taking boring classes, he's gonna be shooting artillery at some terrorists in the Middle East
Matthew Robben its dangerous
unknown unlnown Not for artillery normally its not. They are like 2 miles away surrounded by the parts of the army not in combat (strongest area).
in some countries, you need to have at least 2 years in college to join the artillery unit
@Seek Truth Being an artilleryman does not mean being immune to the dangers of the battlefield. You can still be on the receiving end of enemy counterbattery fire, and if the situation gets really bad, and I mean REALLY bad, you may have to resort to firing over open sights, like Civil War artillery, which means a really valuable asset is in VERY SERIOUS danger.
For towed artillery, counterbattery fire is a particular risk, because unlike the self propelled guns, you can't easily pack up the battery and move, also known as shoot and scoot, nor do you have any protection against that fire.
If the battery is unlikely to move anytime soon, they would be very likely to dig in the guns with sandbagged gun pits and shelters for the gun crews.
If you're attending boring classes you should consider another field of study man.
Good we have the Marines.
2:29 standing around with hands in pockets during live fire ex.....our sargents would have given us hell all day long for that...

I love the fact that the South Koreans are still using M1 helmets for their rear units

Wow they still use a charge separate from the shell and they still clean and cool with a sponge after every shot. Hasn't changed since the middle ages.

Accuracy is obtained by its organization not by the gun itself..
Greetings my friends,

what would make the artillery position better is having a drone with a camera flying near your target so you can see the thing you hit 20 miles away ! could even adjust firing with drones

While the technology still hasn't made it to mass-produced small arms (despite decades of hype), this latest generation of field artillery fires truly *caseless ammo* , no more having to handle those huge super-hot brass cases!
What? Many artillery pieces use caseless ammo and not just new one
@@sangay9361 He's saying that there isn't a reliable mass-produced small arms (Assault rifle, etc) with caseless ammo yet unlike newer generation of artillery.
@@siegmund6307 Yeah I get that, what I disagree with is that only the latest generations of artillery fire caseless ammo. That shit exists at least since the 80's
What are they using 3 green bag? Must be close to the impact area.
It is considered one of the most powerful cannons in the world
It's not tho. Russia has better cannons. Their cannons are self propelled, can shoot 4x further, and have a bigger impact
What is the difference between a howitzer and a cannon? Is it shooting over the horizon ?
