Here after that FF7 Remake/Weiss reveal in the State of Play. Never saw this ending until checking Weiss wiki. It will be interesting going forward in Remake
I remember first seeing this after DoC released and getting all the memory capsules and thinking it was Sephiroth resurrected again somehow but in a different form-just because of the one wing. Didn’t realize at the time that almost everyone in the Comp of FF7 was going to have one wing.
The fact that Genesis comes in like Skynet just sent him back in time and the fact that there’s a lot of multiple timeline theories in FF7 Remake, it makes you wonder if Genesis was “Sephiroth” all along
Dirge of cerberus takes place after final fantasy 7 advent children, so they have plenty of motive to make another game making genesis the main boss. I think it is clever and would be excited to play it.
AceBlackHearts I think after the FFVII HD Remake they made a new FFVII Part where Genesis and Weiss are the main Antagonists. But Weiss is so strong, stronger than Sephiroth in my opinion. I think Weiss will be the Final Boss because he is so much stronger than Genesis. And I hope it comes a Fight between Weiss and Sephiroth.
Genesis sucks. Bas written character and for the wrong motives, it could have been decent, but at the end of crisis core they fucked up his story whitout need whit all that shit of "the gif of the goddes" and "the special boon", why did he want jenova's and sephirot's cells if he knew he could be cured by the boon...
I'm still desperate for a final game in the Compilation, but this scene, whilst really cool, doesn't really make much sense. In a Q&A in the Crisis Core Ultimania, the game's creators state that this scene isn't supposed to be ominous, because Genesis isn't supposed to be evil anymore. He was remorseful at the end of Crisis Core, and decided that with Angeal and Sephiroth dead, it was up to him to protect the planet. So, he sealed himself in this cave, intending to wake up if and when a new crisis threatened the world. In other words, we're supposed to believe that, in this video, Genesis has woken up and intends to save the world from some as of yet unknown new threat. But, how could this video be seen as anything other than ominous? The dark cave, the sinister look on Genesis' face, the fact that he seems to intend to work with the murderous Weiss, the brooding string + bell music, and then of course the black wing, which has never been associated with anything good in the series. The only thing that suggests he might be good is that brief shot of him looking Christ-like, but the rest of the video in which that part is embedded kind of suggests, to me, that we shouldn't take that Christ imagery at face-value. Or in other words, it suggests to me that he's not really to be compared to Christ. Part of me thinks this scene was made before the creators had a strong idea of where they wanted to take Genesis as a character. Seems they might have done an about-face at some point.
Chris Plumb perhaps they wanted to make him look like he has evil intentions to everyone else but everything he does would be to save the planet? Just a theory
Aryan Das after Square is done making the final game of the remake Square Enix needs to expand on the story of the compilation of Final Fantasy 7 when Cloud and his friends has to stop a universal threat bigger than Sephiroth, Jenova, Hojo, Genesis, Shinra, Deepground, Loz, Yazoo, and Kadaj. I believe in the universe of Final Fantasy 7 there is someone that was controlling Sephiroth, Hojo, Genesis, Loz, Yazoo, and Kadaj, and that when they were defeated or broken free from mind control that this universal threat named Apovis would take charge and destroy the universe himself with all of his armies. But in order to get to that point in the compilation with the showdown with Apovis, there would have to be more characters, video games, and films added to the Compilation of Final Fantasy 7 to get to that point.
at this point i think SE is just obsessed with FF7, sequel after sequel, it's just endless, and honestly im bored of it :/ they might as well change the title from Final Fantasy to, idk "Lifu Streamu" or something =.= i mean there are a lot of other FF with great stories and plot holes to get into more details with :/
@@13chabs776 wow!!! Finally! Hes dead 🙌🙌🙌
So as of now this is still the Final Scene in the Cronological FF7 timeline. I wonder if the remake trilogy will somehow tie into this in the future. or if this cliffhanger will Truly be left unanswered forever.
I doubt the Remake will connect with this scene, it will probably remain unanswered forever unless Ever Crisis gives us the answer. I used to believe that Square had planned a FFVII-2 just like they did with X and XIII. but now I doubt that will happen
I love how they had a post credits scene teasing someone’s comeback except Nobody had any fucking clue who this was because crisis core wouldn’t be released for another year
They already brought DEEPGROUND to Intergrade, I think we are on track to find out what Genesis will do with Weiss after this scene. Genesis Jenova cell project was obviously a success.
Jademoon25 See something like that, would be very interesting. It’s unfortunate how it was never explained of what caused the changes in the original timeline for the whispers to intervene, well it was Sephiroth but..how? An how did he see his future to want to go back in the past to change it. I guess we will have to wait for Part 2 to find out. But if it had something to do with Genesis, I feel like that would be really awesome, because it was never explained his fate. They just forgot all about him. So mabe Sephiroth wants Cloud to join him to take down Genesis 🤷♂️ later on in part 2 or part 3. That would be cool and different. Edit: An since Genesis took Weiss’s body it would be awesome to see him return as well. Then it could play out Cloud and Sephiroth Vs Genesis and Weiss, that would be friggin epic to see.
If the original ending of FFVII, the one 500 years after, where Nanaki is running with his cubs towards Midgar is canon to AC(and it is, because there's a scene of it in AC iirc), then it's clear now. According to the comments here, Genesis has awaken to protect the planet, so it means that after Dirge of Cerberus, there's another threat that will more or less wipe out humanity(hence the green landscape stretching through Midgar and beyond in the scene 500 years after). Sephiroth is more than likely trying to prevent it as well(since I don't believe he wants to summon the Meteor again, it's like he's more concerned with the events after AC than the ones he was destinied to commit in FFVII). To me, it always seemed like JENOVA was a bio-weapon, that was sent in order to infect the planets, meaning that there may be an entire alien civilization behind JENOVA's creation. Maybe, they'd try to make JENOVA wipe out planets to sever their connection to the Edge of Creation? Considering that Sephiroth says that Gaia will become a part of the Edge of Creation, and Shinra in FFX-2 was working on a plan to use mako of Spira, meaning that every planet in the FFVII/FFX Universe can potentially have its own Lifestream. That'd mean a multi-layered conflict. Say, if there's a Multiverse God that is trying to uphold destiny, so that every planet will eventually be merged into a giant Lifestream at the Edge of Creation, and there's an ancient alien civilization that is sending JENOVA-esque beings in order to destroy the planets before they'll make it to the Edge of Creation. I wonder, if then, Sephiroth and Genesis were meant to inherit JENOVA cells and in-turn the black wings. We know Sephiroth has one, but now Genesis as well(2:46). On the other hand, Angeal had a white one, so maybe Zack in the alternate timeline will inherit the white wing of Angeal and Cloud in FFVIIR will have his own white wing.
Also, your theory pulls in ffxv as well as the Starscourge is very much like Jenova in that it arrives via meteor and throttles the world it lands on to death
Sephiroth in the edge of creation scene is Crisis Core Seph who will save the human race from extinction..the epic ending will be one of the best in video game history..hail Sephiroth
Making a new FF7 game, and making it about Genesis, would be awesome. Especially with the new PS4 coming out, they could make it and release it some time after Final Fantasy XV
You're right. People ignore patterns and past lore. Cait Sith saw the future with Aeris dying. He was in another scene where a prophecy in the Honeybee Inn was told. It may have been a fetish thing because of the setting, but it clearly talks about Seph and Cloud and came...will come true in at least one timeline. Lucrecia had visions of Seph's atrocities before he was born and Kadaj and Rufus talk about the Lifestream causing history to repeat itself. Also Nero has Void powers pretty much and the Void connects all FFs. That's very much a fact. So anyway...they didn't introduce this...and then Crisis Core just to throw him away.
I know... Fans are wondering... I hope we'll have a surprise announcement of a new FFVII game in the next TGS. Sure, we have KH3 and FFXV, but a new FFVII game set after DoC would be awesome!
Taka Baruna I think there will be. Surely Square Enix can't let this opportunity slide, I want to see a Final Fantasy 7 game with Genesis as a protagonist.
Jedi Master Eric Is there any page or something where I can check if they're going to do a new game ? Either way I think the main story has already been told, and new games won't be as good :/ Wish there was a way to forget and revive the games !
If they add a new game to the Timeline, I am hoping it'll be better than Dirge of Cerberus. It was an okay game, but was a rather noticeable drop in quality. I am hoping it will be better than Advent Children as well. AC was just something I didn't really like, especially for what they did to Cloud
I hope we see him in the second FF7 remake game, but i think the second game will dont hae the subtitle REMAKE no more, i think the second games name maybe will be FF7 The unknown journey, because the first game was a remake but after feteating the watchers of fate everything will change now. +Shonicss4 I played Crisis Core first but it must have been confusing for players to see this and not even know who he is especially when the camera angle seems like they're trying to hide him or make him a surprise.
aeris44 That was kinda the point though. They introduced a new character in a secret ending and had everyone going "wtf who's that" then released a game explaining just that. The problem though is they were clearly planing to bring Gen back and have him do something with Wesis, but they never did.
John Tyus Sephiroth also is left handed but he uses his right hand to hold the Masamune at the end of the remake. Genesis is right handed. Coincidence? I THINK NOT!!!

@Cricketheads12 Yep that's actually Gackt. Weiss and the entire background is all animation, but that's really Gackt actually acting as Genesis, I mean, he is his actual voice over after all ^^ And I agree, I'm also so glad they changed his voice for CC, it was a perfect fit in my opinion. When I saw this my face dropped, thinking "what did they do to your voice Gackt?!" D: But ya lol
It's nice to see Weiss back in some form in Intergrade, Nero too. The Tsviets were great villains who were wasted being in only one game. However, this teaser suggesting that an anti-hero at best and outright villain were going to focus in future content left you wondering who exactly was to be the hero in that new content. Which is why remakes focusing on the good old guys seemed the only place left to go.
I just really wonder what was up with Genesis's VA here. I mean really the first time i saw this scene i bursted into laughter. because i mean what was with that accent lol.

@@cn8299 This is actually a very valid comment, we may disagree about the subject but I commend this type of comment for actually talking about FF VII itself.
So hopefully we'll get answers soon... *hyped*

Remember future devs: Don't put your celebrity crush in your games lol
ya was pretty fucking retarded for them to do
@Lockonese bc thanks to this jackass they're not allowed to use the character ever after crisis core. bc of him there's no remasters of this game and crisis core, and any further ff7 stories
@Lockonese bc genesis is modeled after him, so when they wanted to do more with the character the celebrity said no, and he has the rights to his looks
Kojima: Hold my beer :v
@Chocobo pretty sure that's what they did in crisis core though
If you look where the sister ray is pointing and the way the camera pans straight down, you’ll see Weiss head is pointed in the same direction, when Genesis flies up he’s flying in the direction Weiss head is pointing meaning in the direction of the city of the ancients and northern crater, that must be where he went to turn back time/get to the past
Yes in the city of ancients on original ff7, its full of weird clocks and ancient magic. Maybe meteor wasnt the only secret being held there
Sister ray?
Genesis played me like a damn fiddle!

How FF7 remake story begun
It will never not be fuckin hilarious to hear a Spanish accent coming from Genesis' mouth as he's played by a live-action Gackt. Dirge is so edgy I fuckin love it
During the events of Final Fantasy VII and Advent Children, Genisis learned how to speak Russian and his voice went through puberty
I want to see Genesis in Rebirth as well.

@Mighty Goddess Aqua it a same timeline between crisis core and advent children, it just they change a story to stay connect to crisis core and advent children. Not to mention, remake that just came out is only part 1, part 2 is already on work right now since 2019
His wing is SUPER tall/long. Compared to Angeal and Sephiroth, his wingspan has insane lengths
People who claim Genesis died in Crisis Core; never defeated Minerva and it shows.
I wonder if Genesis will become a secret boss for Remake with a mini story.
That's the best Dracula impression by Robin Atkin Downes I've ever heard.

Square: *Well yes, but actually no*
Well we did find who He is in the past
I'm holding max dood's gamble over Genesis appearance in next part of the remake
Imagine square use this unused plot from cerberus in the remake part 2
it could just happen based on recent trailers..
Who's here watching this ending again, because of the FFVII Rebirth trailer? Genesis is probably the new villain this time 😂
I hope genesis will be an ally to cloud this time
The fact that Genesis comes in like Skynet just sent him back in time and the fact that there’s a lot of multiple timeline theories in FF7 Remake, it makes you wonder if Genesis was “Sephiroth” all along
Main boss, or even the hero. Redemption story. I'd love to see that.
So considering what happened at the end of Remake, I think there's a good chance we'll see Genesis again, and possibly have Cloud fight him
@@NaomiTCOOKIES Which would explain Sephiroth asking Cloud for help.
Chris Plumb , right. But we will surely like FF7 to continue again....as you have seen the upcoming FF7 Remake for Ps4/E3.
was that sephiroth he took also
Alexander Coleman exactly man. Maybe saving the planet doesn’t mean saving humanity at its best
So FFVII's final scene is a friggin' cliffhanger? Really?!
at this point i think SE is just obsessed with FF7, sequel after sequel, it's just endless, and honestly im bored of it :/ they might as well change the title from Final Fantasy to, idk "Lifu Streamu" or something =.= i mean there are a lot of other FF with great stories and plot holes to get into more details with :/
KuroNoTenno since Dirge came out before Crisis Core, I think this scene was meant to lead up to Crisis Core where Genesis is the main antagonist
@@13chabs776 wow!!! Finally! Someone who really understand the meaning of this ending, it was only marketing and ppl still thinking that Genesis is alive, hes dead, Genesis was used to build Deepground they explain that clearly and in Crisis Core Genesis write the last chapter of Loveless in Lifestream mode so, clearly saying that hes part of the planet wich means??? Hes dead 🙌🙌🙌

So as of now this is still the Final Scene in the Cronological FF7 timeline. I wonder if the remake trilogy will somehow tie into this in the future. or if this cliffhanger will Truly be left unanswered forever.
I doubt the Remake will connect with this scene, it will probably remain unanswered forever unless Ever Crisis gives us the answer. I used to believe that Square had planned a FFVII-2 just like they did with X and XIII. but now I doubt that will happen
we dont know this for sure. Rebirth could connect this scene. Either way in a few months well find out!@@gustavocalderon9788
I love how they had a post credits scene teasing someone’s comeback except Nobody had any fucking clue who this was because crisis core wouldn’t be released for another year
They already brought DEEPGROUND to Intergrade, I think we are on track to find out what Genesis will do with Weiss after this scene. Genesis Jenova cell project was obviously a success.
they aren't "milking" it, they are adding to it.

it's Genesis!!!!!!!!

for a second
Came back 2019 once i heard FFVII comin back just to comment
Welcome, friend. I did the same.
I have a feeling Genesis is behind the time shift in the remake. Sephiroth is a diversion and Genesis is the true threat.
Mind.. Blown..
I agree
I appreciate this so much, I've thought the same thing.

The REMAKE will touch on Genesis still being alive prolly, I guarantee you.
It will go beyond Sephiroth and the Northern Crater thats why they doing the game in parts
Remake has referenced G-cells and a lot of other Crisis Core munchies.
@xAznSkyxx: Dirge of Cerberus was made years before Crisis Core.
10 years, and still waiting for my Cloud vs Kamen Rider Decade crossover. Square Enix finish that shit!!!!
He’s finally returned.
Dat cliffhanger...... dirge of Cerberus is the final FF7 in the timeline right? thats Genesis, so whats gonna happen now??
Jedi Master Eric
Is there any page or something where I can check if they're going to do a new game ? Either way I think the main story has already been told, and new games won't be as good :/ Wish there was a way to forget and revive the games !
BboyFarii well, on the Final fantasy wikia, it says the Final Fantasy 7 series will end in 2016 or 2017, so I m only guessing it will be with Genesis
If they add a new game to the Timeline, I am hoping it'll be better than Dirge of Cerberus. It was an okay game, but was a rather noticeable drop in quality. I am hoping it will be better than Advent Children as well. AC was just something I didn't really like, especially for what they did to Cloud
I guess we know what genesis was doing in the lore between crisis core and this at least, brushing up on his spanish english accent...

*IS GENESIS the one who time traveled and disguised himself as SEPHIROTH in the Remake???*
Neat theory!
Well sephiroths wing is on the other side and its different then genesis wing
John Tyus Sephiroth also is left handed but he uses his right hand to hold the Masamune at the end of the remake. Genesis is right handed. Coincidence? I THINK NOT!!!
They should really stick to the original game
yeah I thought that Genesis was actually there but to be honest he's not he's dead but instead gackt disguise himself as Genesis to actually make you think that Genesis was actually alive
Terrance Savage and the point of that would be...
