Canteen Cup Tuesday...I love it, .Lets do it. open challenge to all that see this. Show us what you cook up in your canteen cups on Tuesday. I love your country...
Great video! I enjoy my canteen setup a lot too. Its hard to beat for personal outdoor cooking. Good idea adding instant rice. Soaks up the water when you're not wanting a soup. Thanks for posting!
this place reminds me of my home swamp that I go to have my tea and my swamp talks...cool video...there is nothing like being nestled in among the palms!
Matt ..you made A believer to me..The canteen cook set is the way to go ,even if you use fuel stoves ..u will always have a backup plan for cooking 🍳...Genius Matt
Good scarf when you're out there. I'm from Colorado and when we hit the trail and hike in that elevation everything tastes heavenly. Good eat man! Good idea with that hardware cloth.
great video....anytime you are alone in the woods it is "good medicine" no matter where it is.....btw it is hard to find good quality swamp water in the dry season...lots of swamps are dry in my area....it is kinda cool I can walk in the swamps and see what I am usually walking on during the wet season lol
Great video!!! Great idea with the rice I might try it with yellow rice 😉. I made some brackets out of metal coat hanger for my canteen stove. I haven't tried them out yet but I do like the hardware cloth idea.
The rice really soaked up the chicken broth, it was pretty good. The hardware cloth idea is so easy and gives you just the right amount of air space between the cup and the stove. Plus it is easy to do, you just set it on there and go....
Yeah, working five days a week for 48 years was tough too. Retired now, so hope I live long enough to go out and about. Or make my CCT in the back yard like others, no need in walking miles with bad hip just to fix ramen.
good Job!. a few years ago I started to take every Wednesday afternoon off and unplug from everything. I too go out into the local woods and recharge my batteries as my wife says. 6 hrs of nothing but me and the woods and my bushcraft bag. just subscribed too. good luck in future.
The canteen cup and stove is the way to go...that wasn't the regular ? That was the Nesbit stove ...and , his recipe with chicken was awesome..Thanks Man
Ramen Noodles and Rice with canned Chicken...that's my kind of cookin'. This is the video I had to pause to reply to you Brother...lol. I gotta find my Canteen Cup here somewhere because we just got back from a 3 day outing at Turkey Fork and I am missing my canteen somewhere...now where in the heck is it?...hummmmn.
And this is how it all started...lol. Ramen with rice and chicken is one of my trail favorites. I am working on my entries into the Green Cup Club and Society...haha
Hey Matt, You are the winner of my Giveaway, I understand you were pretty busy lately ! :) I need your mailing information to send the bush pot, book and paracord ! :) If you don't want it please let me know so I can choose another winner. Great video buddy ! :) That's a nice canteen set up I never tried those military type canteens. They're interesting for sure.
Hi Matt. You made another GREAT video. I like it. Tell me about the Mil suspenders and the SAW pouches besides that other large pouch that's about 8 X 8 X 5 deep. What's that one called. Where did you get all that old ALICE fighting belt rig. I think I saw ALICE clips to hold all those pouches onto the belt right? Where did you get all that? It looks pretty good for a waist pack or waist belt with the suspenders to offset the weight a little and all sorts of pouches attached with ALICE clips or MOLLE clips maybe. Please describe it. Thanks Matt. The food looks great. I'll bet it was yummy. Bart
Thanks! That rig is one of my first and one of my favorites. It is a basic LC2 web belt/LC2 suspender rig with a 200rnd SAW pouch anchored by 2 canteens. Then on each side I have a basic med kit with the plastic containers. Up front are 2 small arms pouches that anchor the front suspender straps. Yes there are ALICE clips on the whole thing and they work great. If you search around ebay and amazon you can find stuff that is brand new and unissued. Yeah, it works great and with the wide belt and suspenders you cant hardly feel any weight at all. Thanks man!
You were correct Sir! I now have a belt and suspenders and a bunch of the same pouches you have. I LOVE it! This setup with the belt and suspenders is so perfect in its desigh. It's soooooo easy to hike around with even a lot of weight in my pouches. I added a butt pack too on the back and I have the shorter, longer fanny pack to that I switch out with the butt pack sometimes. I even found round nalgene cup bags or covers that hold a GSI round cup and a round stove like the canteen cup stove just round. All this stuff hooks onto the belt with ALICE clips or MOLLE II straps. It is so cool and versatile. Thanks for showing me all about it and making videos of it. Have you been out hiking or is it a bit too hot down there right about now? Talk to me Matt! and thanks again for the videos and the replies to my newby questions.
Looks tasty! I prefer using an old coffee can system over canteens but I find you guys with canteens have a lot of good recipes. Wonder if that hardware cloth could grill a small burger?
It was! You could definitely grill a good size burger on the hardware cloth but it is galvanized so you wouldn't want to do that. I got one of those single use grills for $3.99 at the grocery store and it has a food grade grill so I have since made a similar sized grill with it. Dying to try it out but it is too hot right now...
Man, those are some strange looking "woods"! Compared to the woods here in Oregon anyhow. Kentucky Woodsman sent me to your Channel, and I have now subscribed. By the way, what model of stove is that? I have a Solo Stove and I love it!
Haha, your woods look awesome. I would love to visit sometime. The stove is just the basic old cheap canteen cup stove with a piece of 1/2" hardware cloth on the top for a cup support. Kentucky Woodsman is a great guy....
Thanks! I would get a basic GI canteen/cup kit. That is what I have and it is indestructible. It is also about $25 complete. You can get a lot more expensive ones but the military stuff gives you the most bang for the buck...
all i could think of was damn man way too many carbs but then it hit me! im a fat ass carb lover too and my canteen cups neglected as well lol i need ta get out there one day lol
Add some veggies and seasonings instead of the ramen packet. Save those ramen packets for oral rehydration broth when it’s hot and you’re feeling like you’re about to crash. That’s what the rangers in the Grand Canyon are using...
After listening to story-after-story on Bigfoot & Dogman, l literally think US woods are probs the most dangerous hike sites on earth! Just glad I live in boring old England, where except for a a hierarchical communist takeover by the Eton red brigade, I’m pretty safe right now.
Great video..I also use web gear...it looks like you and I are the only "bushcrafters" that do though. I have subscribed to your channel hope you do the same ..we are very similar in our approaches
I know, right? I can't believe that more don't use the ALICE stuff, it is so cheap and available. I love that stuff. I will definitely check you out and subscribe. Thanks man...
Mine is the Canadian version but basically the same. I have a video on it on my Cnannel. It is funny all these bushcrafters not using something that ever military on the planet uses when they are in the bush
I did not cook directly on the wire. I know about cooking on galvanized, that was just to hold my pot up. I have another grid of stainless that you will see soon...

You have to now lol.
You guys created a wonderful activity for the outdoorsman.. Awesome job guys! 👊😎👌🇺🇸
I've been enjoying your canteen cup Tuesdays. Thank you, sir!
My pleasure!
Great video! I enjoy my canteen setup a lot too. Its hard to beat for personal outdoor cooking. Good idea adding instant rice. Soaks up the water when you're not wanting a soup. Thanks for posting!
Haha the rice soaked up all of the soup and made it almost a casserole but it was really good. Adding the chicken made all the difference.
Nice on, Matt! That's one of my favourite trail meals, and it's perfect for the canteen cup. Easy to change up the flavours too. Thanks for sharing!
It really makes a lot, you better be hungry to make this one...lol

Canteen Cup Tuesday is an awesome idea... I plan on jumping on the wagon. Thanks.
Awesome, glad to have you. I am going to resume these when it cools off some...
I was surprised to see you not put aa piece of foil under the stove. Enjoyed your video.
Really not much heat from the bottom so it worked out well
Looked good.
I also like using my canteen cup.
Thanks for the video
Thanks. This is how it all started...lol
Hey that looked pretty good! I will have to remember that next time I plan a meal in the woods. Thanks for sharing!
It was really easy. Adding the chicken makes it a lot better
Great set up, man!
Thanks man. I love the ALICE stuff, it is sooooo versatile
That was a great meal plan. Thanks for sharing your tricks.
Thanks! It was very easy to do...
Hope I can find lid like yours, great vlog man.
I hope so too, they dont often fit too well...
Great video. Your making me want to get out my canteen cup and give it some use. Thanks for sharing. New sub. Carolina Chris sent me.
Get out that cup...lol. I do a new dish in mine every Tuesday

In the backyard or out in the woods, either way it will be a success. It is more fun in the woods though....

I did a chop stick mod for lifting lid

Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! That was my modified Ramen bomb and it is AWESOME...
Is that a Rothco Canteen Lid Floridaboy? If so then that must be a Rothco canteen also, because the lid fits perfect!
Yes it is, Rothco canten cup and lid. It may be the only surviving example of this set that actually fits together...most do not.
Thank you I think i'm gonna get one , I guess you can make the lid fit, lol thanks for showing.
No problem. I have a link to it in the description....
Matt ,I really like your Videos ,what in your opinion is a good canteen kit to get ? looking for one . Thanks Ron
Thanks! I would get a basic GI canteen/cup kit. That is what I have and it is indestructible. It is also about $25 complete. You can get a lot more expensive ones but the military stuff gives you the most bang for the buck...
Thank you Matt
Is this near Moss Park?
No this is over by Melbourne. I know where Moss Park is and it is pretty nice over there...
To help it cook more evenly I always break my Ramen into fourths. Works for me.
I do that sometimes, usually it is OK in one big block...
Is that a model 512 canteen cup and lid? Thanks . I Subscribed good stuff
That is a Rothco SS canteen cup and lid....
good to canteen cup and equipemen
Thanks. It is my favorite rig...
So you're telling me that canteen cups have lids and i now need one for my canteen kit?
Yes they do, most dont fit too well but mine happens to be perfect...
this was how IT started 😋
Yep, this is how it all started...lol
all i could think of was damn man way too many carbs but then it hit me! im a fat ass carb lover too and my canteen cups neglected as well lol i need ta get out there one day lol

FloridaBoy Bushcraft & Survival ever try the hot and spicy with a can of swanson buffalo chicken? its pretty awesome! not too hot but flavorful
Usually, instant noodle only be cooked 2~3 minutes in boiled water.
I only cooked them for 3 minutes...

I have used that before. I always have a water source where i go so it is not that vital...
Try a ramen season pac.
I had a season pack in there....
why not use them broth in their can, instead of throwing it away?
Sometimes the chicken juice is kinda funky.....
thk god u got out - thumbed it up!
Thanks!!

I think I forgot it on this one lol. This was the very first CCT...
I break up the Ramen in the bag first works good .
I do that sometimes also, but I like the long stringy noodles...lol
