My husband was his First sergeant when he was stationed at Fort Drum NY. I was friends with his wife Angela and godmother to his son Andrew. When I heard he was being tried again through Federal court I almost fainted thinking back how he had babysat my kids several times when his wife and I would go play bingo. My husband and Tim would take turns babysitting the kids. I asked my husband before he passed away what he thought about him being tried in Federal Court and he could only say I hope they fry his ass. He said deep down he thought he did it because he acted creepy at times and was always hitting on the female soldiers.
"I hope they fry his ass" 😂😂 hilarious. Thank God he did nothing to your kids. You think you know someone then boom they do something astonishing. May your husband rest in peace.
I have followed this case for years and absolutely believe he is guilty. I know his wife has stood by his side initially, I wonder how she feels now. I also though of if his children and wonder what their feeling about him is. Now that they are adults do they admit their dad is guilty?

I've always thought he wrote them himself, but then they were so obviously childish and fake that i can't help wondering if he was downright "simple" in the head? I almost feel embarrassed for him if he really DID write them and think they'd be convincing.
I'm amazed at how arrogant he was to keep trying to appeal his sentence! I'm grateful that he's never going to be a free man again. Even if he doesn't get executed, I feel like some measure of justice has been served. Rest in peace to those poor victims and their family 🕊🙏🫂
Yeah.. in many ways,it does. But i think it's even more horrific in one way because he wasn't even related to his victims. To have that much rage against people he didn't even know is beyond comprehension. For that reason only, I think he should be looked at for other murders.
I live in Fayetteville. I remember when this happened. One thing that wasn't mentioned when Hennis was called up he was living in Washington state about 30 miles from Gary Eastburn and Jana. When she found out how close he lived to them she had nightmares. He is a true monster.
Unfortunately he’ll probably remain a waste of space in Leavenworth since I doubt any president will make signing off on his death warrant a priority. Sad.
With justice like this , you can see why people take the law into their own hands .. The narration was stellar .. Clear & concise ... I liked & I am subscribed ..
He was recalled in 2006 BECAUSE he was being investigated for the murder. Prior to this he willingly re-enlisted after the murder. He made master-sergeant. That takes at least 15 years.
I remember this story of the Eastburn ladies as the brutality was vicious and unconscionable. It’s one thing to kill anyone, but the mother and the 2 little girls is utterly disgusting. Though I am tremendously grateful that the Military was able to put this monster behind bars as double jeopardy is a slippery slope as we see people be found not guilty after two trials and then many proudly boast of the killing(s).
Could you cover the case of Carol Ann Dougherty? She was a little girl found murdered in a church in 1962. I've been trying to find updates about her case, but it feels like she's been forgotten and that's so sad.
If i remember correctly, They also had their throats slashed. How anyone could do that to small children ,especially when he had children of his own,is beyond me.
If I'm not mistaken, the last time our govt okayed a military death sentence to be carried out was in 1961. There are many men court martialed and awaiting their just penalty. Too bad they have more rights than the victims! 😢
Thank-you for covering this case! ❤ Its so sad that this family was only trying to do what was right by their beloved pet and that led to their brutal deaths ... I hope the remaining family has peace, and that the pup was re-rehomed safely.
What a shocking case. The family's murder was brutal. Quite a turn of events for Hennis and a shame he was initially freed. I wonder if he is linked to other such crimes. A very dangerous man and hopefully he will never be let out again. Rest in peace Katie, Kara and Erin💕💕💕how on earth Gary and Jana move on from this horrific crime, is unfathomable. We would like the details of this mans personnel conduct, over the years. I'm sure that would be very telling. "A tree shall be known by it's fruits." Peace and goodwill.
So true. And this monster may think he's escaped with his life, no prison justice...yet, but his final "reward" is just patiently waiting for him. I think it will be far worse than what man dishes out.🕊️🤍🪽
"Leftenant" is actually a mispronunciation possibly based on an archaic form of lieutenant. It's also been theorized the British adopted that form to avoid it sounding like someone who lives in a bathroom--"loo tenant". The French word it comes from is pronounced /ljø/, which is more like "loo" and nothing like "lef".
Military is pronounced, Mili - tary . The common mispronunciation as Mili - tree frustrates the hell out of me . Another is blood ' splatter ' , lots of people who should know better say this , when the correct term is ' spatter ' . Can you think of any more ?
I've never heard of this case before. I was surprised when his DNA matched in 2006. Had his defense just stood by that the DNA was somehow contaminated, I might could be persuaded that something like that had occurred and he was possibly innocent. The moment that it was said that the defense claimed that consensual sex took place between the two before the murders, nope, he's guilty as charged. He apparently went back, with the intention of raping Katy and was recognized somehow by her or the children...or both. If you pause on one of the newspaper clippings, you'll read that all three had their throats slit. One of the children was nearly decapitated. Sick, sick man and he doesn't deserve to live.
Thank you DC. Never forget watching the movie of the week or Tuesday night movie with my late Mom and it was this terrible story. That monster should have been in GenPop. To think he murdered that poor Mom and 2 of her tiny sweet little angels...but then figuring the baby couldn't identify him...HE JUST LEFT HER TO SUFFER ALL ALONE. Thank God they found her before it was too late. Poor Dad! It doesn't bear thinking about too much. And the man falsely accused while that bastard was soaking up life and even in the military! We don't want to believe it, but obviously it's very true that eyewitness accounts are highly unreliable. And with the known "disease" some police and prosecutors and judges have called TUNNELVISION they fit quite well. Putting SOMEONE in prison. Just someone. In this case those 2 really did look like twins butit stopped there, and they didn't really push it. What a shame. I hope the fams left behind have had a better go since that monster was finally stopped. Thank you DC. Well done. It depends. There’s rules of evidence that prohibit exhibits which prejudice the defendant more than they have probative value.
