    Does anyone know if they have a specific breeding season or do breed all year around

      From what I've read, nobody really knows if there's a specific breeding season (since very few have hatched captive bred babies), so if you give it a shot I'd recommend just housing the male and female together all year around. They're not territorial so there's no risk to it. Good luck!

    Big Apple Herps I’m hearing is quite sketchy.........for one thing we don’t have any video anywhere yet or actual proof of babies being born...........so frustrating..........I’ve love these guys and keep wanting to try breeding, I find it mind boggling that we havnt done it yet, other than the few rumors I havnt seen proof of.
    Such cool skinks.
    I also find it insane that we don’t have actual footage of them in the wild, I’m guessing the habitats are sketchy for outsiders to go study, but come on this has to change, they need to be studied a bit in the wild.

      I wouldn’t necessarily call their habitats “sketchy”, I think the lack of studying is merely due to a lack of visibility of this species as a whole. Both literally (as in, since they’re fossorial) and figuratively- we’re only recently hearing more about peters banded skinks (recently as in a few years ago), hopefully more studies will be done in the coming years! You’re right though Big Apple Herps seems a little sketchy now that I think of it... I’ll keep that in mind for the future :^)

      @@drinkssss as far as their wild areas being sketchy I’m just kinda thinking the locals might not want ppl there, considering that’s where they are being plucked from the wild.............not sure what the demeanor is around there right now.
      Yeah I think Big Apple has stuff drop shipped from other places or something, not usually getting animals from the photos and just a strange situation.

    can i use reptile sand from other brands ?

    • @drinkssss
      @drinkssss  2 роки тому

      Yes! ExoTerra natural sand is all good to use, as well as some other brands- the ones to avoid are the less naturalistic kinds: "Calcium Sand" for instance. Those are a NO-GO. but as long as it's all natural, a peter's banded skink would be good with it!

      @Jake ONeal Walnut shells are the only ones I'd be worried about since they're super sharp. Unlike granule substrates (like the others you listed), walnut shells can- if ingested- scrape and cut the internal organs.
