    This is my first time seeing your videos and this type of art and I am blown away at your steady hand, creativity and, ultimately, your gorgeous final geode. Amazingly realistic and beautiful, a real work of art. Your explanations and guidance are thorough and your narration is so friendly and sweet I just know I would like to watch you perform your magic and count you as a friend. I look forward to viewing more of your videos.

    When I remove the tape from my resin pieces, I use a heat gun to remove it. I don't heat it for long - just enough to soften the tape glue

    • @thefrugalresinista
      @thefrugalresinista  5 років тому

      Thanks for the tip! I do too but for some reason, this time it almost seemed like it made the tape stickier! I must have done something wrong.

    When having trouble with tape, use your heat gun to warm the glue up and it will peel off much easier. 😉

    • @thefrugalresinista
      @thefrugalresinista  5 років тому

      That was the crazy part. I did and usually it works but it just made the tape a big sticky mess. Ick!

    • @VictoriaThorntonArtist
      @VictoriaThorntonArtist 5 років тому

      Yeah that's what I do too. If I have trouble, I also use my sharp blade/exacto knife and it usually pulls right up. Also, I use green Frog tape instead of the blue tape.

    • @thefrugalresinista
      @thefrugalresinista  5 років тому

      Thanks so much! I unfortunately don't know of an alternative. It's a bummer. You could look at a less expensive resin from Lowe's. You would just need really good ventilation or a respirator.

      @thefrugalresinista  5 років тому +1

      You are so nice! Thank you for watching again and again! I don't know what I like better yet. The wood is heavy and harder/bulkier to move around but the canvas really sags if you don't work hard to prevent it. I'm going to do some more wood and see how it goes.

    MDF board is awesome!! We use it all the time for countertops and backsplashes, trays etc... Your work is beautiful!! 😆💕
    Oh as for the tape with the MDF... We have been using masking tape (it sticks to the MDF) and then electrical tape over that to give it more strength when you pull it off. Then if that fails... heat gun it 🤪😆

    I absolutely love your work... unfortunately in Australia we dont have the awesome and cheap art supply stores you guys have in the States so frugal isn't a word we can use here. However I am so inspired by your work. I fully intend to try and do something like this. Would you consider doing a black and white geode. My son and his partner have just decorated in these colors and I would love to see how you would put that color combo together before I mess it up. Thanks so much for sharing your talent with us.

    I haven’t started any resin projects yet, but I am looking forward to it. Can you tell me, did this turn out really heavy? It looks like it would be! Also, the lovely gold paint that spread out in the resin-was that the Testers or the nail polish? I love that look of marbling.

    Ok BFF I'm trying this. I got my humongous sheet of MDF cut down into reasonable pieces. I'm sure I will make you nuts with questions as I go but for now, how did you decide on your shape? I did more of a "slice" shape (haven't cut it yet), and it reminds me of an egg! 🍳 Do you just do whatever shape comes out - or do you plan your shapes for a reason only known to Resin Goddesses? #NoEggResinGeode

    • @thefrugalresinista
      @thefrugalresinista  5 років тому +1

      Woo hoo BFF! Ask away! I'm so glad you are trying it! I like to get on Pinterest and look at a bunch of real geode slices. I have a board with all of them saved for shape and color reference. That being said, my shapes don't always turn out the way that I hope they will. Share a pic on my Facebook page after you create your art! And P.S. love your hashtag!
