This Is Why America is Afraid of China's Auto Industry | 2024 Shenzhen Auto Show and More

  • The rapid growth of China’s automotive industry, particularly in the EV sector, is reshaping the global automotive landscape. For the United States, this rise presents both challenges and opportunities. While there are legitimate concerns about economic competition, supply chain dependencies, and technological leadership, there is also the potential for collaboration and mutual growth. Navigating this complex landscape requires strategic policies that balance competition with cooperation, ensuring that both nations can benefit from the advancements in automotive technology.
In Today's video, we visit the 2024 Shenzhen auto show, where over 1000 different vehicles were on display. This video highlights just a handful of them.

I wonder why you talk about Chinese government giving subsidy as if western nations don't do the same. The farmers in the west get subsidy etc most western manufacturers get subsidy to enable them export. Só every nation does that. It is not an exclusive action of Chinese government. Let us start telling the truth at least.

I didn't intend for it to sound like a negative thing. I think subsidies are a great way for any industry or organization to receive funding, especially when there is a need for it, and yes, many countries do the same.

I think government subsidies are a positive thing to combat climate change. Electric vehicles still account for too small a percentage of car sales, and the planet needs to be saved.

It doesn’t any matter whether China subsidies or not. If EV manufacturers produce any good products in reasonable price. It is good for any consumers.

The original intention of subsidies for EV is to fight pollution and clean up air in China cities. The same for the promotion of solar PV. No other nations had done so much to go green as China. Now that China succeeded in their implementation of going green it becomes an issue with the West and US.
If the less developed and developing nations had to depend to West and US to do the necessary investment to go green they would probably be swimming in smog and paying US$ 120 for fossil fuel.
It was reported that the green tech like solar panel wind producing half of the electricity modern world using now.
Why isn't there an acknowledgement of what China had done for the world going green?
If solar panels selling at price the West had intended it to be a lot of Africans will be burning woods.

@ 1:37 , “ The US is concerned losing its competitiveness edge in the global auto market.”
US auto makers lost their competitiveness to the Japanese auto makers beginning in the mid 1980s. Your statement applies to Japan, not USA.

I don't know how to describe the difference between Chinese cars and other cars. If we make a metaphor, Chinese cars are like the smartphones we use now, while other cars are like the analog phones we used to use. To be honest, I really want to buy an AVATA 12 from Changan, the manufacturer in Chongqing China, but it is almost impossible because this is Canada.

I want to buy one as well, but ... I'm from Australia. Our Government is scared of USA, especially with USA threatening us. On the 13/8/2019, Professor John Mearsheimar (USA Foreign Policy) threatens Australia if we keep trading with China, that we become the enemy of USA if we keep trading with China. So our Government obeys, like USA's pet dog. Sad.

Talking about cars is good, but why bring up subsidies? Are you suggesting that the US government's accusations of subsidies are unfair or fair?
If you want to discuss this, it's also fine. However, please at least also talk about whether the US government heavily subsidizes its car companies. That would be fair, right?
