I do rust repair in the northeast. These handicap conversion companies do basically nothing to preserve the undercarriage and that’s the way they all look underneath. It’s sad because these vans are EXPENSIVE and it’s not easy for them to replace with a new/newer van.
This is how I get it off when another tech does this. I've would have tapped it on the top. That way you don't get it cocked. I always use penetrant on the top and let it sit and work it out, but I do not take it all the way off when doing a trans. Loosen a few threads and spin the crossmember out of the way. Up here in the rust belt, there is a ton more corrosion than that bolt had.
I have a craftsman set like that. Same case but sockets on both sides and hex drive not 3/8 or 1/2, I believe it's more effective because less buckling when turning out broken bolt/nut
I remove the cooling fans everything and heat the bolt up on top and the bolt removes everytime i broke a few bolts and had to drill it out and nut and bolt it no moor to much time drilling
J.T. you are tge man, it's amazing how someone else never put any effort into fixing the problem, right?
Awesome fix!
