These were the sort of videos that made YT great. No green screens, no annoying music, no random adverts for powdered green slime that claims to make you healthy, just a guy sharing his passions and a desire to help others. (Great tip btw)
I came here, wanting a 30 -40- second how-to video about fixing a spray can. I stayed for over seven minutes because this video was informative, clear, concise and entertaining! Bravo! And the last minute made the video twice as great!!
The stem only breaks off on new cans. If you have a can with just a half an ounce remining, it never breaks. You could throw that nearly empty can against a brick wall w/o any damage !
I don't use WD-40 for anything really, but I always grab the cans with the flexible spray nozzle to put on my brake cleaner, carb and choke cleaner, PB Blaster, PB Lawnmower and so on. WD-40 cans make for great target practice lol. Cheers Moe! Always a pleasure to watch your creativity. Cheers! Zip~
@@ZippoVarga About the only thing I use WD-40 for is a degreaser. It dissolves the grease off of an engine pretty well and then you can use a degreaser after that to clean it off.
Your video is perfect timing. Last week, I broke the nozzle off of a can of brake cleaner. Ginger always puts a smile on my face. She has so much personality. Thanks for the video. 👍
You seem to be the last man standing. Thank you so much for your videos . Been watching since the start. Miss other channels luck chucky glad your still fighting the fight
Brilliant educational fix for something I have encountered many times and thrown away full cans of product because I couldn't use anymore. Thanks man for not making this video a long watch before the conclusion and thanks for including your video assistant. What a very intelligent baby. I thank you for putting him/her in the video. I respect you for that
Awesome. 100% useful. And the extra tips, too. This is a huge frustration for me. FYI: i got tired of collecting half (or one time) used spray paint either from breaks like this or clogged nozzle (even when properly unending spraying and wiping... the adjustable angle tips are awful). I called the phone number on a Krylon can and they: 1. Sent me a dozen replacement nozzles that fit that type of can And 2. Sent a check to reimburse for every dud can i had. But i will try these steps first because sometimes you need to get a job done and don't have time to go to the store. Thanks!
I can tell by the man's hands he's getting them dirty doing some real work and sharing that experience and knowledge. I liked the extra info on how those nozzles work and am glad I stayed for the closing dog tricks!
You make your channel unique to others. A lot of channels do stuff like this, but I prefer to watch your channel because of you. Keep making them. Your channel will grow.
Perfect timing. Have a can of dry lubricant that won’t spray. Was going to look for your other video and here you saved me looking. Thanks, and of course I watched to the end.
Stayed to the end! I found putting the cap back on also save the sprayer, when I remember. Great video, have a few cans like that waiting around for a solution. Perfect!
Excellent tip.....it works! Suggestion: instead of using a power grinder to taper down the plastic straw, I found using sand paper is better because the heat of the grinder melts the plastic straw and it is no longer round. Sanding is more controllable and gentler on the straw. Thanks again!
Nice! We've all seen those ridiculous hacks that usually take more time than it's worth; or the materials cost more than it costs to buy another one. But this one here... Is pure genius all the way! In, fact, I don't know what I found to be the most interesting, but it was all very useful. You definitely got my attention. I've probably lost a couple hundred bones breaking these things off over the years. And probably worse than the money - is when it's your last can - and it's full. We all know how frustrating it is to have to drop what you're doing (and in my case lock my garage back up) and go another can. Which we all know will be more than just one can - You're gonna stock up again as long as your there. And drop at least another $20. Great post buddy.
I've done the WD-40 nozzle trick, too. Sometimes you need to trim the valve on the can where you want to install it. I've cut them down with wire cutters. As for the rest of this video, it reminds me of all the other times I watch your videos and wonder how you have solved ALL of these problems in ONE lifetime...
Good info. Probably 5 years ago now I broke one off and it's a gumout can and still have it. Sitting here I don't remember where it's broke off but I'll finally be able to use it. It's a new never used full can of gumout.
What a cool way to fix a modern day problem. Thank you..

Excellent ideas on this channel 👍 Thank you I often pop a hole in tops and dump chemicals into another recharge spray hand pump . I pup WD-40 and Pb blaster tops on other cans also. Works good on starting fluid to spray into intake etc I started to make my own WD-40 out of ATF and diesel with acetone . Kroil cult will be upset...lol
Try this before using the can. Remove the cap and modify it to gain access to the push valve before reattached the can. The modification could be a simple as cutting a hole in the side of the cap to allow an index finger to access and push down on the spray nozzle. A second hole 180 degrees opposite the index finger hole needs to be cut to allow the dispersal tube to be attached to the spray nozzle. (Looking like the vertical slot in an O2 oxyacetalene bottle transport cap but sized for the dispersal straw of the spray can). Reattach the modified spray can cap to allign with the spray nozzle and dispersal straw.
Thanks for the trick. I can’t count how many spray cans I’ve thrown away after dropping them. Ps about 20 years ago I had a 1965 F250 with a V8 and a top shift 4 speed with the compound low. Great truck. I’m curious about your 65 Ford.

That happens to me on paint spray cans. Good tip! Maybe i can fix a couple of cans now. Once I tried drilling a hole in the top of a paint can quickly to remove the pressure, figuring the paint came from the bottom. Whell I found out fast....Big mistake, paint all over the inside of my garage sink and my hands.
I have a whole video on unclogging spray paint cans quickly ua-cam.com/video/h9gQQDqLW9Q/v-deo.htmlsi=vUZYfYJlUCAExs6S Yeah it can be a mess opening the spray paint cans.
I've also done the Schrader valve trick In addition to Simply using a Schrader valve and a wisely chosen air pump to pump atmospheric air into a can that is full of liquid but devoid of pressure. Needless to say this is only going to be useful if there's no leak or a very very slow leak in the can but what I really came on here to share is that when your nozzle breaks off below the surface of the metal on the can, all you have to do is take a small screw, actually a small fine-tipped drywall screw will work sometimes, the key is it has to be very pointy on the end and have some strong tooth on the screw, and gently drive it into their, directly into the spray valve nozzle on the can, for roughly 3/4 of a turn. Basically until the screw has enough bite on the broken plastic segment that you can now use a claw hammer or similar or simply use your bare hands to gently pull the screw out with the plastic piece attached to the tip of the screw still and then you can transfer a fresh spray nozzle from a different empty can. I've done this many times, making use of paints and other spray can contents found while dumpster diving in years past
Also kind of important to note, when I would use a Schrader valve and an air pump to put atmospheric error into a depressurized can, I would find a damaged bicycle inner tube and I would just trim the valve off of the remainder of the inner tube. But important to note is that if you're dealing with something like spray paint and you use a hand tire pump, you run the risk of having backflow out of your spray can into your tire pump once you have established pressure inside of the can, so you can Gunk up the internal cylinder on a tire pump if you do this. Fortunately most of the older ones are actually rebuildable and very simple to clean out and recondition with new seals and new Greece
Thanks for sharing this great hack. After watching your video on making them refillable, I made a little tweak and moved the valve to the bottom center of the can. It hides the stem, and I cut it short enough, so it doesn’t interfere with its ability to stand up. Got a rabbit pickup to tinker with. What did you use to check compression on yours?
I've done a few with the valve in the bottom. Depending on the can, you have to recess it so much it's a pain to fill with air (chuck has trouble latching) and the pickup straw generally gets melted a little during the soldering. I guess, I prefer the top.
Super cool. But I don't buy aerosol cans if I can avoid it. I buy things like W 40 and carb cleaner by the gallon and use either a hand pump or air compressed spray can. far far cheaper and more efficient. But this Is a great fix for those that do buy individual cans.
