It's super cool that not only does Fosi Audio support the channel but they did it after you give them a not so positive review which speaks to the integrity of the company.
A gm company worth its salt in any field, will take constructive criticism on board to improve it's product /offering 👍
Because of this channel I’m very happy with several little Fosi amps stashed around my house
That is awesome!
Me too
I just bought the little sub amp and it SLAPS.
Lol same!
@@cheapaudioman you should review the fosi bt30d pro sometime, I upgraded from the regular bt30d and it was a major improvement (TPA3255) however, like with all these Chinese hifi class d amps they can get harsh and distort at high volumes
I'm just being a pedant, but an extra 0 means 10 x different rather than 100 or even 99. Still going in the right direction though. As far as op amps go, Staccato from Poland are awesome and similar in price to Burson and Sparkos. The bloke who runs the company is super helpful also. I like Burson op amps a lot but in my Kinki Studio amp the Staccatos are more pleasing to my ears. Great video. Thanks.
*this has nothing to do with this video but your video on the Schiit Audio MODI 3 greatly helped me and I couldn't be happier! I bought a new tv and PS5(yep.. that situation) and I needed to connect my old style rca stereo up to it like I had my old tv.. well I couldn't do that so I had to buy a DAC, ofcourse I bought that super cheap $10 jobby... the Audio was super distorted sounding and barely tolerable. I watched your video on the Modi 3 and decided to take the chance and it just arrived, I've got it hooked up and the audio is now clear and excellent sounding!*
I got a Fosi BT30D Pro the other day, and it quickly became one of my favourite amps. I'm looking forward to try this one👍🏻
I have a nice set of active speaker monitors that recently died on me... Just the left amp kept working... So I got one of these chinese amps and converted the speakers to passive, and I'm loving it! In addition I got an amp with a sub-out and connected a nice 8 inch subwoofer and now I have a great full range sound coming from my PC...
Ordered mine today. 30% discount came in my email yesterday from Fosi. Then I found your review. (sigh of relief). Love the channel!
Your channel introduced to me planar-magnetic IEM's! thank you for getting me to switch from dynamic cones to that!
Glad to help!
Thanks for all your great reviews - just wanted to say however it is you who are overseas!
Rock on brother!!! The new intro is dope.
Cool. Thanks for the info on how the sponsored videos work. Transparency is a good thing. I was going to ask about the DAC. I’m no EE, but see analog out and in, and thought the amp was digital…., wasn’t sure how that worked. Thought it might be converted to digital then back to analog. Maybe put this in the “stupid question” folder.
Ther are no stupid questions but ther can be stupid answers so be prepared
This amp does not have a dac (digital audio converter) it only has bluetooth and analog rca inputs
No DAC here. Class D amp, which is just a description of the output driver stage design.
Think I get it now. Did some google research. I think some class D amps concert backs and forth. Not this one. Grazzi
Love watching your videos since I'm often learning something I never knew about. Who would of thunk there's a way to tweak a $100 component to improve its performance (op amping). Fosi really puts the "tink" in tinkering!
I'd love to see socketed op-amps in their K5 Pro dac/amp. It doesn't cost much extra and it allows some customization on a budget.
Being a new subscriber and outside of the USA I probably won't get the amp being from the Bahamas , but the information and the simplicity of it is a real blessing of itself, so Randy , hope the continues to grow and BLESS you the same.
I really like what Fosi is making. I started out using a Lepai LP-2020a+ about 10-12 years ago back when that was pretty much the only good option for a desktop amp. It started to go out 3 years ago so I started looking for a new desktop amp. Found the Fosi Audio V1.0B. At about $50 it's great. The build quality is top notch and it looks good and of course sounds great. I use it with a pair of Micca MB42 and I've used them with Wave Crest Audio hvl-1. Very happy with Fosi
Thanks for the review! I bought this last night after watching Williston audio labs dyno test video he posted yesterday. I'm going to replace my Aiyima A07 with this because the case fits the color scheme of the Sound Blaster X5 I am using so it will stack nicely on top of the X5 and not look out of place like the A07 does.
Are your speakers bi amp capable?
@@ufarkingicehole TBH I'm not sure but they are Sony SS-CS5 and they are sitting about a foot away from my face on my desk so I don't know if I should add more power.
@@Felix-bj1in they are not bi amp capable. You don't need much with those but absolutely need a decent smaller sub to get the most from those. I have a few pairs and will eventually upgrade 1 of them using Randys friends crossover kit
👍🏻🔈 hey Randy, would you be able to do a video on upgrading power supply’s for Budget amps? I have a SMSL A0200 in my garage system with Polk R200 and sub. But am looking to possibly get a bit more dynamics from the amp. I don’t know where to start. Thanks for the content!
The NE5532 is a dual op amp. Having two of them suggests that they're using one per channel, but they might be using both parts of the dual for each channel or perhaps they only use one, using separate op amps for better channel separation.
Maybe the use one stage for amplification and one stage to get a very low output impedance.
I just got my Fosdi TB10D and I don't think the sound is as good as my Aiyima A07 pro when turned up to higher volume. Fosdi has the 32V power supply
I am still impressed how cool they have been with you. It should be the standard with dealing with companies but instead they are an exception, but one well appreciated. Thanks for the videos~
Nice..I have two Fosi products now...this could be the next
I am pretty sure that it uses dual/stereo op-amps. The second one *may* be for the tone controls?
A full power (linear?) power supply would be pretty awesome! And larger/full size binding posts would be even better.
Yeah. They’re dual. Just looked up the spec sheet
@@cheapaudioman I am still learning about op-amps, as I am trying different units in my Geshelli J2S and AkitikA PR-102 preamp. I *think* that all single op-amps have 3 digit model numbers, and dual op-amps have 4 digits?
And so far, the OPA627 dual mono modules (which are two single channel op-amps mounted on a board that act as a dual channel) for about $8 each - are the best sounding of monolithic op-amps (as opposed to discrete). These seem to be screaming deals!
NE5532 is a dual op amp
I bought a fosi bt 30d pro and I am pushing two old school rauland 15" loudspeakers with hugh horns and a skar audio evl 12" passive subwoofer, it sounds amazing !
I think it is pretty cool that we both started with the same edifiers on our audio journeys
Take these reviews with a big spoon of salt. I have this little ChiFi amp, it’s wonderful for what it is for desktop listening, casual game room setup etc. but let me be clear, it’s no match for even a entry level, but well built, well priced offerings from Cambridge or Emotiva etc. The Emotiva Mini X-A100 that I also own beats the snot out of this little bugger in terms of superb midrange weight, bass depth and tightness and well resolved treble and separation. But for $80, this BT20a Pro does hold a surprise or two on how well it still can drive medium to large speakers. Anything upto 11 O’clock position sounds good. Beyond that it loses its composure, but it’s already pretty loud 90db by then. Try this for fun and you may find a use case.
Nice one Randy, I thought at first you said your 'old BT20A was up stairs running rude channels' 😂 The things our audio kit get up to when we're out, that's a very different toy story film 😂
awesome custom option, off amp rolling never herd of that before. But so cool 👍
That is probably the sharpest-looking Fosi product that I've seen. A refreshing variation away from the angular black box.
I have a silver one
This would be a perfect upgrade in my Home studio, Im always dragging my older one from room to room.
Sounds as good as the TB10D , has sub out and BT too?! I'm buying one! thx again CAM! Good salemsan...
How about a Fosi mono amp? It’d be interesting to have two 160 watt mono blocks each with a dedicated sub-out.
The built in filter on some Subwoofers work very well, I know the new Emotiva Subs have it. I have a 12" Parts Express / Dayton Audio Sub and the built-in filter works really well.
@@ahuesphoto cool…..thx
i love my A07. i used it to diag hiss from my receiver by bypassing the internal amp. but it aounds so good i kept it on place. its a SX-9000 pioneer btw. great as the preamp for the A07
A stripped down version with a trigger input would be useful for all those who want to add channels to their AVR’s. Many AVR’s have more processing channels that amplifier channels. Easy to drop one of these in to add channels, the trigger for power would be perfect.
Thanks Randy, been in China and UA-cam is not available glad to be back in the USA! 🇺🇸
I have the original, love it. I have it paired with nuemi book shelf speakers and a polk sub. Wonderful desktop computer setup. I may move that to my garage and get this new one with some elacs.
There's also the BT30D pro which has subwoofer out directly for a passive subwoofer, seems to be similar specced. May be worth looking at if you're going to run a passive sub for a 2.1 setup or i guess maybe a centre channel?
I have one, works great (the BT30D that is, I also have an 8" powered subwoofer)!
I bought a BT30D Pro to power the sound from my 55-inch TCL QLED TV and it works great, but I also paired it to my 12-inch Skar Audio passive subwoofer and that combination sounds GREAT! It sounds better than my powered 12-inch MTX sub, which will vibrate a concrete floor. Both of these subs are for indoor use, not for automotive use.
@@crazyprayingmantis5596 I repurposed a passive Sony subwoofer that came as part of a HT in a box system. I like very much being able to set the sub crossover and volume on the BT30D Pro, rather than fishing around on the back of an active sub. The Sony sub fills out the bottom end of the Monitor Audio Monitor 100s very nicely. Not going to shake any walls, or worry REL, but it is surprisingly musical. Gave the whole setup to my future son in law as a birthday present. He runs his entry level AudioTechnica turntable through it and loves it. Incidentally, the BT30D Pro also has a line out for an active subwoofer.
I have this, volume pot a little wobly, just one color for the pot and slight noise from speakers, when shutting down cause of two potentiometers, sound is very good,
Might want to check and review the TB30D too. It has direct support for subwoofer. Thanks to you I use the TB10D and sooo happy with it.
Which 48v 10amp power supplies are recommended? Something that doesn't cause electrical hum or a fan that makes noise
Nice. Looks like an A08 Pro without all the glitter.
Thanks for the info. Building a cheap but good sounding system for sunroom with vintage Polk and Klipsche speakers. I really appreciate your channel! And thanks for the code...saved me $20!
Take another look at those opamps. They are probably dual i.e. stereo. One for the volume, another for the tone controls. So you can use different opamps. A sparkos and muses or whatever
Another vote for Muses OpAmps
I've just bought a TB10-D thanks to your recomendation (and some coupons 😂), but I wouldn't mind winning one of this.
The BT20A Pro looks good! FYI. However, I just noticed that the Aiyima A07 PRO (with same TPA3255 chip and tone controls) has a BIGGER power supply @36v 6A and its BT is the BETTER APT-X decoding. Any chance you might test the Aiyima A07 PRO as well? Thx
Randy, your the best!
After seen your video I ordert one via your AMZ-aff-link in Germany. It Works!
Payed less than 90€ incl. tax, p&p. Fu..lly Great ;)
Best wishes from Germany
This pro version really is gorgeous. Loving the orange volume knob!
Yes, Orange knobs sounds a little better 😞
I feel so warm and Fosi after watching this video. 😅
I remember I bought the original Dork amp before Bluetooth for $19 EBay sale. Absolutely biggest BANG ‼️ for your buck💰
Please consider showing how to connect the devices / equipment you review and show them being used!!!
160 watts means 80 watts per channel peak power. Continuous RMS power is approximately .63x peak power. Som the actual usable power with the 32V/5A power supply is about 50W at 100% efficiency, which is im possible in the real world. So, assuming a very high 90% efficiency, actual power to the speaker will be around 45W/channel, which is plenty, unless you have very low sensitivity speakers and listen at deafening levels in a very large room.
For the potential use I might have, I do wish they also put a balance control in addition to the very useful tone controls. My second system (where this might go) is definitely weighted to one speaker due to the room and it would be great to even that out.
Do it in your computer...
@@raulernesto9289 It would be connected to a CD player, not a computer or streamer.
We all love a Give Away, thanks Fosi Audio
That's a pretty handsome little unit, probably one of the best looking small Class D units I have seen. I would prefer that the Bass & Treble controls positions were swapped. It's odd that they did that, but not a huge issue.
Nice Channel, first time here and will be sure to check in again. I got a question for you though.
Is there a way to power this amp through a computer or a powerbank? For perhaps camping or picknicks.
There's always the premade portable BT-speakers, I know. But I enjoy mixing things up.
Also can this perhaps be used for Multiroom applications? I got a bunch of old speakers that could be connected to an amp such as this.
This would be so perfect if it supported LDAC Bluetooth codec, or at the very least aptX HD
@@joanfrederick9176 I didn't say it should have the same price point
i gotta say. Op amp rolling really does make a difference. I put a texas instruments op amp into my aiyima a07 and immedietly it had COMPLETELY different characteristics.
Yeah, but better, worse or just different?
@@daveb40361 Better. I say different out of caution but my speakers actually measure flatter with the new op amp. Subjectively, the timbre is much more natural, and has way less of this weird harshness on the high end that the stock amp had
*these tpa3255 or even the tda7498 need to be open chassis, with a fan even better. They can run very hot if ran moderately for a long while(and thats the case, think about how hot the chip is lmao), especially at 2ohm, but with venting or an open chassis design they run pretty cool, no issue at 2ohm or moderate volume with treble/bass controls set moderately aswell.*
@Stephen Buck people who want more power and understand dynamics in music. The question isn't why would you, it's why WOULDNT you? Especially when it's plenty efficient at that ohm load and little distortion difference that absolutely no one would ever notice.
Some suggest that using a 48V PSU on these might definitely cause overheating. A little DIY with a quiet running computer fan and case mods might be in order.
@Stephen Buck that was always my qualm about building a Raspberry Pi streamer/DAC. Most of the builds I saw online had NO thought given to thermal issues. Given the WiiM Mini available at less than $99 I'm glad now that I never built a Pi one and had it to worry about overheating. Good luck.
@Stephen Buck I'm surprised more people in the U.K. and Germany don't use Class A tube amps in the winter...LOL...
@@rosswarren436 I do in Scotland. Often in the dark depths of winter with a blizzard swirling outside, myself and my wife can be found huddled around warming our hands on the glow from my Allnic 300b tube amp while listening to smooth jazz.
Great review as usual, thank you for all you do!
Another great video.still trying to decide between this and the Douks.
I prefer AIYIMA products myself. The T9 pro matched with a pair of Klipsch R-41M’s looks awesome. I run those R-41’s with a miller kreisel subwoofer (Powered V-125).
I love your honesty about Fosi sponsoring you. Great sponsor 👍
I'd agree with you -- and maybe I'm naive -- but I'm thunderstruck to hear that he's been clearing his reviews of other products with the manufacturers before he uploads them. That's not a review; that's a twelve-minute commercial.
I don't believe (or at least don't want to believe) that this is standard for audiophile reviewers. I know that Tarun doesn't have any arrangement with any of the companies whose products he reviews. But if Randy and Erin and Z and Andrew Robinson and all those guys are being paid to make these, that's ... well again, maybe I'm naive, but I've spent a year believing these guys and that one comment by Randy at the beginning of this video has thrown it all into very, very, *very* serious doubt.
@@CinemaDemocratica you're right to have doubt. Take a look at multiple reviews, not all from UA-cam, if you plan on actually buying a product you like the look of. Back when magazine reviews were dominant there was the concern that some publications might not give negative reviews to avoid annoying advertisers, but you'll find the situation way worse in todays media landscape - some of the reported demands from some companies on some UA-cam 'reviewers' results in 'reviews' that can't be taken too seriously. That's not to say they're all bad, some UA-camrs are completely transparent, some just don't review products they think are bad to avoid any negativity....etc.....
I was talking about "sponsors" like Squarespace, ekster wallets, ridge wallet. I disclose every sponsor that I have. the first links in the description are to the sponsored company and I disclose that the video contains "sponsored content". I've also partnered with WIIM mini and fosi audio but have disclosed those relationships as well. You can check every video to see who has "paid" me. 90% of the time they are non audio related companies. If I do accept a sponsorship from an audio company and talk about it in the video and disclose it as well. I would appreciate it if you wouldn't spread misinformation on other creator's channels like Steve Guttenberg's
I know many don't like Bluetooth, but it is useful and convenient, especially for use in an outbuilding that is beyond the reach of your Wi-Fi. But the question is how does the Fosi BT-20A Pro compare in sound quality to the Fosi Audio TB10D?
Similar unless you start changing opamps.
@@D1N02 They posted that 8-pin Sparkos op-amps are compatible. Wow. Probably overkill for a cheap amp, but you know some experimenters will try it.
@@D1N02 I found Fosi Audio sells other op-amps at decent prices too that are compatible, maybe not as much overkill as the Sparkos. They offer a high end Muses, a medium grade OPA2604AP, and a cheaper OPA2134PA.
@@rosswarren436 It could be a winner combo making it sound like a thousand dollars.

Great video, as always Randy very informative, I’m always in the hunt for something like these little amps to recommend to people! ✌🏽🔥🔥🔥👍🏽
Great channel Randy. I own the Aiyima A07 you recommended. Would love to know how these 2 compare. Does it sound as good as an Aiyima A07? with the added bonus of tone controls? Thx for clarifying.
Love the transparency (the sponsorship not the audio lol) but really according to YT rules you have to put "Sponsored video" things in the top left?
Thanks for doing this review! I'm looking at this amp and was waiting for your opinion on this. I saw it on another channel and his opinion was at the very least you could use it for a pre-amp if not your main one, wanted to hear it from you to be sure. Thanks for the informative content, I trust your opinion!
Phoenix thunderstorm intro!!! 💥🌧
I wish they had an amp that sounds like the TB10D with 3-4 inputs. I love my TB10D other than that!!
I have the older one and not too bad 😊
Randy, The new Fosi looks sweet, and the preamp-out would work for subs and things too! Would love to roll the Op-Amps I have in stock with this one. I could always use a test unit to test them out!
Your channel really appeals to the true skinflint that I am. Love that orange nob.
Hint...Hint Headphone output and a switch for on or off for same...would be sweet.
I love my fosi bt 20 AS , good stuff ! On a different topic , is cheap audioman solely responsible for the world wide shortage of JBL a 130 s , can't get a pair anymore
You can ditch the Bluetooth and use the Wi-Fi on the WiiM Mini, and get a $150 DAC.. much better. 👻Why can’t Fosi audio make the same amplifier with a sub out, a couple selectable inputs, and headphone capability?
Now that I would consider a “cheap” approval. 😉
how about T9 or T9 pro?
CAM, Which do you like better, this Fosi or the Ayima A07?
Well I just got a A07 pro in which is going into the system today. So I will let you know soon
Ordered mine early enough this morning. Will arrive tomorrow!
Plan is to also order the Aiyima T2 tube pre-amp and also ge tubes, both shipped for under $100.
Any oninions on this pairing before I pull the trigger....
It's already in cart...LOL... prolly won't sit there very long!
I completely agree, it would be nice if Fosi Audio incursion into $~200 dollars Amp. I bet it may look similar to the smallest amps from the likes of Emotive and Cambridge Audio but even smaller, but with more power than Fosi Audio's current offerings. Fosi Audio also has some interesting Tube Preamps like the P1.
Thanks for all the great videos, Randy. I am trying to get into HiFi and your videos have been a HUGE help. I just bought the CSS Audio Torii kit. Do you think this amp would pair well with those speakers?
Randy how about a head to head with this and Aiyima A07 Pro?
Same device as the BT30 Pro .. without the sub output, can't see why this BT20 Pro would be interesting... lower price maybe ? I think i bought the BT30D Pro for 60$ (no power supply as i use a battery)
Using it with a pair of polk ES20 and a 25" sub .. and it's perfect solution, for overall 400-450€.

What 48V PS do you have/recommend? Back when the 10d mk II came out, I remember Randy not having a good, affordable, low-noose recommendation

When are you going to review the hot selling NAD CS-1? The first batches are selling out fast.
The problem for me is that all these little amps look the same. I get that small is easy and cheap for shipping but I would like something slightly closer to conventional amp size. Thin is okay. Make it 10" wide and 6" deep and 2" high.
Pretty cool little amp for the money!
Everyone sells out eventually… subconsciously their sponsorship does impact your opinion. Either way… still the best audio reviewer on UA-cam.
It sort of reminds of the early Quad pre-amps
What is the point to a bigger power supply?
This is Awesome! I could really use this amp in my setup!
Hey Randy, love the channel. The Amazon ad says it is 220 volts. That is a mistake right???? Thanks Joe
Watched three of these on the BT20A Pro already today.
I don't know if I missed it being mentioned before -- or maybe I'm just tediously naive -- but Randy's disclosure that the manufacturers pay him to make these "reviews" has discomposed a great deal of my experience of consuming audio reviews on YT, all in an instant. Why do so many YT reviewers seem so impressed with the Fosi BT10D and the Aiyima T9 and the Neumi BS5 and the Sony SSCS5? Is it because those products really are attention-grabbingly superlative? Or ... as of this moment ... is it because those "reviews" are all actually twelve-minute TV Commercials for this stuff?

I don't know, $100 for an amp that requires 220V you might be able to use it only next to the stove or the clothes dryer. No specs for the BT either (which codecs?)
