Someone was probably trying to do a Shabby Chic or Cottage Core room, and thought they could make the table work in it by painting it white. There should be laws against painting good wood -- and I don't even like Mid-Century Modern!
@@jcalpha2717 There should be laws about what furniture can be painted and what cannot. Nothing with historical significance or antique value should ever be painted. Most stuff from the 1970s, sure, slap on a coat of paint. It might hide how ugly it was to begin with. Laminated MCM can be painted, but not real wood. Aging, yellowing French Prov can be painted, and usually looks better for it. But my grandparents mahogany bedroom suite? God forbid!
So glad you brought it back to its former glory . How could anyone paint over this gorgeous table is beyond me. You did a fantastic job. Well done 👏👏👏🥰
Yes, definitely! I found it in North Vancouver, and I did a nice amount of research only to find an old listing on Kijiji that was expired, so no information about it was found. Thanks for watching!
WOW! So stunning afterward. Hard to believe the previous owner though a coat of white paint or any paint would be suitable for this iconic piece! This is so much better!
Absolutely a gorgeous piece...you saved it from it's potential demise, or worse...another person buying it and adding more paint ontop of the existing paint! Nice work!!! 👏😎
@@FurnitureFlippa sorry it posted sooner than you'd expected it too...but I'm happy I was the first to see it; although, I would've watched it no matter when it was posted!
Also, what type of wire brushes do you use for your pieces (material of the metal and handles) and how to keep them clean? You should do a tutorial on how to clean and maintain your workspace and the tools used, so that DIY folks will know their investment in the tools won't go to waste if they're properly cared for. Just a thought.
@@oracleoptix Not a problem, I truly appreciate that :) I added it to my public playlist not knowing it would become available lol but I will be posting it public shortly anyways
Beautiful work! I love that you don't take shortcuts. You took everything apart and did a thorough job stripping, finishing and assembling. 💙 Ya done good!
Nothing like seeing a piece of furniture destined for the trash being jerked right out of the jaws of the crusher and landing onto the magic of your work table. What a gorgeous piece!
Jamie you knocked this one outta the park 😍👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I don’t know why ppl paint furniture so poorly but bc they did it made it easier for you to remove and that white was gross lol. I love when you post a video. You never disappoint 👍🏼
It’s hard work, but isn’t it great to bring a piece back to life? Love all your videos. I’ve done this to a few pieces, loved and enjoyed the results. What a beauty you brought back. Linda Beals.
Hi Jamie! It is so satisfying to see a piece go from damaged to spectacular. Amazing job on this flip. I joined your skool, and I picked up some great ideas from watching the video. Very resourceful! I'll be seeing you at skool!
Wow, awesome job, gorgeous piece and beautiful wood. I hate hate hate working on painted pieces; but, they are worth the effort. Awesome job and an awesome piece! Congrats....👍
That is one of those pieces that I truly can't understand painting. I live wood, but I am open-minded about painting furniture. This piece didn't even look like a coffee table painted white. I thought it was some sort of weird bed frame or something, lol. Refinished, it is stunning!
That looks great now . Wonder job it is a long coffee table I wouldn't be able to use one that big . I have seen couches that would look great with that coffee table sitting in front of it. Lovely work . Prayers 🙏 and Love 🤟 From Oklahoma
Well Done! Great Restoration! I Would Agree with what Colleenbu Said about Upgrading the Underside. People do Look and the Particle Board was a Bit Rougher. You've Really got Stripping the Paint Off down to an Art! Helpful Hints to Move the Process Along more Quickly. And Your having Fun with the Filming Process. I'm Enjoying that!
Wow!! What a great find!! Awesome job!! I'd suggest having a sample size paint mixed in a close color match to you stain and using it on the underside particle board. It will help with the finished look. Also use the same paint diluted 50/50 to paint wash the wood on the under side. It will camouflage the leftover white paint in the grain. This was once suggested to me and it was a game changer.

I can’t believe someone painted it in the first place. You did a fabulous job bringing it back to life 😍

not 1850 -- its 1950 -- mid century is the 20th not the 19th

Reminds me very much of the 1960's era. Love the warmer wood over the loud white. Very nice work cleaning piece by piece and reassembling. Well done!
