I remember hearing an interview with Boney M's Liz Mitchell in 1979 or '80 on Radio Nederland's English language service, a now sadly defunct project but very popular with international short wave listeners in pre-internet days. When asked her favourite song in the band's repertoire she unhesitatingly nominated _Heart of Gold_ rather than one of their well-known chart toppers. Boney M's cover of this Neil Young classic was then played, and quite to my own surprise I was won over as a fan of the band and―especially―of Liz herself.
Thats a damn fine cover!!! You know what? To this day I always consideres Boney M something like the Hermes House Band of their time. But listening to this concert absolutely changed that. They where artists in their own right.
