Saw this in concert it was incredible
@@kevinlafaso806 wonderful..you lucky doggo…I didn’t ‘discover’ TP u tntil 20144. Yes. Bad but totally immersed and am happy.
@@gailremp8389 never too late to discover TP. I first saw him in 1981 the Hard Promises tour yea I'm old lol. Actually saw him 9 times
Absolutely I've listened to this a thousand times 👍
Mike Cambell is one of the very best rock & roll guitar players I've ever seen 😊
Dam right
The guy is also a great songwriter
Dude I'm 73 years young, saw hendrix Clapton, ❤️ 🎸, this guy is up there, 😍 the guitar player, wow 👍 😄
Tom saved my life in so many ways. I was fortunate to see him over a dozen times. His reunion in Gainesville was my epic experience. Stevie and my ol stomping ground as a gator grad. My life was fulfilled.
I'm sad I never got to see Tom Petty live.😢
Damn it but I miss this guy! TP & the HB's made the world a better place!
This is how you take a song and turn it into a transformative live experience, man. Outstanding.
I saw this tour in Columbia. 4th row. One of the best shows ever!🎸
@@EADGBESTRAT just 4th row? Woo ho.
Totally starts out feels like sounds like, the Who it does I swear it’s like a King Crimson, Talking Heads PFunk sort of intro then changes character and expands exponentially until it’s sweaty soulful classic and raw rock and roll .
Omg
Long live Mike Campbell!!!
Don’t think I’ve ever seen this version.
Miss the Tom and Heartbreakers but
Merry Christmas everyone!
❤✌🏼🎸
classic rock this is how it's done kids. i'm 64 and this still lights my fire. TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS WERE ROCK AND ROLL
That was rock and roll for sure , original. Tom Petty was a living legend and absolutely an original that will never be duplicated. Great American poet.
Damn straight. Gail in Central FL Monday, April 25, 2022.
I was on a consert in Guthenburg Sweden He was awesome so so Rock an Roll💪🏻👍🏻😁
Tom Petty “The King of Rock “ !!!!!
Yep. I was 72 when you wrote your comment when you were 64. Oh my goodness when we get older will we still be fed and will we still be loved. Yes yes yes. So glad you enjoyed this it is the best.. my fire may be a little less bright. But I do have moments that it's there. Ha ha. Be safe. We need you.
U think 🤔 you got a problem, damm I, watch it 30 times, and it still ain't enough ❤😅
I'm never going forgive myself for not going to see Tom Petty when I had the chance. Great singer & a great band.
Saw this tour in Gainesville, Tom's and my hometown. It was right around Halloween and spirits were moving through the air that night! There will never be anyone like him, he's a legend and always will be.
Me too..
One of the best examples of musical theatre I’ve ever seen. ❤
It pains me to think of the nonstop degenerate garbage that is constantly pushed on society now when masterpieces like this exist.
This is just fantastic.
1.074.004 views wow thank you all ... TOM will be great forever !!!
THANK YOU for this post. Amazing version of this classic. Keepin' the music alive.
And another one in March 2024. Love this man, love this band and this is epic. Thank you so much for posting
Never forgotten. Love
I think the Heartbreakers' lead guitarist and pianist are two of the most underrated musicians/songwriters of all time.
Ditto
Indeed. Mike Campbell 🎸and Benmont Tench 🎹brothers have been with Tom since the beginning from Gainsville . Couldn't ask for better bandmates.
Check out Mike Campbell and The Dirty Knobs.
Agreed! Mike is really one of the primary architects of the Heartbreakers sound, and one of my top 5 favorite rock guitarists of all time. Benmont...wow, I never worked out my top pianist/keyboardist list, but thinking about it now, it’s basically him and Roy Bittan.
Absolutely...love love love them both
Seeing Howie & Tom alive and well absolutely breaks my heart💔
That might be the most epic entrance by a hat in the history of hats.
My wife, at the 5:00 mark: Oh, good, he found his hat.
It just wouldn't be the same without the hat
He gives slash a run for his money dont he....RIP TOM
HAIL TOM & HIS HAT!!!
Good Ahlam
Tom Petty is so cool and really is at the top of his game.....even though he has joined all the other great songwriters/performers who have passed...his songs live on forever. I like how he writes on his Gibson Hummingbird like I often do...
One of the great live performances
Right !
I had always been a TP fan, but not until I saw him live in the late ‘90s - and this song in particular - did I fully appreciate how unbelievably good he really was. Simply amazing.
I have watched this video many many times But this is the first time it has brought me to tears....Like finally set in this KING IS DEAD. u will be always missed and forever loved
Tom. Pure. Natural. Honest. Real. Not phony. Talented. Better than any of your peers. Thank you, Tom. You left at the top of your mountain.
All true until you threw out the silly Beatles remark
@@docsavage8640 I edited it.
Now this is Tom Petty......
This music makes Life worth Living 🎸👍
Heartbreaking you are sooo missed Heart Breakers😢😢. Tom touches the soul here and up above
Mike Campbell, way under rated. I have him in my top ten of all time.
1st, the man dreamed the dream in Florida, then, he gathered his friends and made it happen, thEN, he owned and lived the dream. IMO, Tom is as important as any in the rock pantheon. An inspiration to all those kids working on those simple chords into the night, DREAMING, DREAMING, DREAMING.
I'm 20 years old, he's my fav artist ever
Thoes cords reverberate through time and space... i will be 11 i will be 111 tom petty will still be flowing through the universe.
@@byelilyofficial go listen to Desire by bob , the rambling starts some place

Still cant believe Tom is gone....damn what a song writer and talent...
TOM PETTY ALWAYS LOVED FOREVER MISSED NEVER FORGOTTEN
My life got a whole lots better after watching this!
Greatest American rocker of all time!!
It's 2021, seeing Tom's guitar, I'd give anything to think he could really fly back on stage and pick it up again. I still can't believe he's gone.
Heart = broken 💘🎩🎸
My daughter's friend had tickets to his last concert. She was too tired to go and gave the tickets away. He died within a week.

What an intro...wow.
Yah! It reminded me a bit of the Grateful Dead...but yeah, again! This is a great intro and a lovely version of my favourite song by Tom and the H.B's
I had the pleasure of seeing this live at Oakland Arena. This intro was crazy good. And not only the Intro but the Presidents chasing him. The crowd in Oakland was going crazy.
Mike Campbell doing his Brian May impersonation. lol
Mike Campbell the co-pilot and damn do I miss Tom
only show of his i caught was this tour and how lucky was I
That is not music. That is theatre. And if you've never worked in theatre, you have no idea how hard it would be to pull off. That is the first song and it's exhausting watching it. Then, you play another two hours.
Dude... It's music kabuki....
Some people were brought up to bring a little happiness to the world and it shows
Love it, even my neighbors are listening to this also 😂
I keep on listening to Mr Tom petty and his band, absolutely beautiful.
This is f'ing excellent. What a performance.
He brought us all in the music when u were at his concert. He would look at the audience like it was our turn to sing and everyone sang their hearts out. Truly in my most happiest place when this man was around. I was on a serious high that needed no drugs, smiling from ear to ear. Fly free Tom...we miss you down here.
Happy Father's Day ,Tom & The Heartbreakers.
I’ll never get over the loss of Tom Petty, he was an original , real American treasure- miss you Tom 👏💕! Keep rocking...!

Iconic! The best live performance ever! ❤
Never heard of his guitar player - This man is a master of the strings.....One of a kind performance
Looks like Brian May :)
You won’t find a better one than Mike.
Was with him from the early beginnings to the bitter end. The best heartbreaker! 😍
That is shockingly brilliant. R.I.P. Tom Petty.
Mike is fantastic just look at him playing love love . TOMS BEST FRIEND forever 🥰😇🥰 Miss N love you Tom. Play with all the greats up stairs. Heaven is sure rocking !
I cannot go a week without watching this entire concert. The intro to this gives me chills. The man loved loved loved what they did and also his fans. So humble. So real. I always wonder if he knew ( and knows) how loved he was. Miss him so bad. NOTHING LIKE THESE GUYS PLAYING TOGETHER....I think he said 15 years? TOMS little grin with those precious front teeth at 6:40 ..... melts my heart. He still looks like the kid that wanted to be famous. I read that he always kept the fronts rows open and then had people brought down from nosebleed section. Love you forever Tom and you Heartbreakers.
Where can you see the entire concert? There's two clips on UA-cam, as of now, but in can't find more of it. I can't find it for sale anywhere either. Not that I would have a laser disk player anyway. Any info on where to find it would be appreciated
Amber Fillmore it used to be on
UA-cam. Can’t find it now. Ugh! I was thinking of looking for it to buy too....maybe we’ll get lucky.
@@patriciafoster3347 but you said you can't go a week without watching the entire concert which would mean you have been watching it at least every 7 days for at least 6 months but now you can't find it? I don't think you're being completely honest

Yes Tom Petty kicked ass in Concert.i seen him in the early 90s
If that's not one of the greatest live performances, nothing is.
Tom Petty was one of the best American songwriters. Great to hear Howie Epstein. I remember Tom saying of him "guys that play instruments and sing high harmonies don't fall from trees."

Still can't believe sometimes that he's gone. The world was better with him. and George.
I’m not sad that he’s gone but smile cause he was here and saved. Given last rites as he lay dieing. God wanted a rocker up there.
I can't even begin to describe the amount of goosebumps I got from watching this!!

That's how they recorded. Playing Together in the same room, with very little overdubbing!
...theyre good...but give some credit to the sound guys. Common now.

I was at this tour! Saw this live and felt ALIVE. Feeling is part of being alive and Tom's Music made you feel! If you didnt feel something from his music you are probably dead!
You lucky bastard. 😉
Tom, you were always a bit on the dramatic side lol. It’s a part of what made you so very special to us. We sure do miss you - we all miss you so much, Tom. Your spirit lives on each and every time we hear your sweet songs. Some people in this life are natural born givers, and others are takers. You, my very special friend, were most definitely a giver. While we hate it that you’re no longer with us, and that you were taken from us way too soon, it’s obvious that you were needed for a much more important work, in another place, a greater place. May your family and loved ones be blessed and know that in their hearts. 💞❤️💖
If you’re not crying you will never deserve to wear a top hat a day in your life
Love this...
Excelente, buenísimo, nos da nostalgia por la edad tengo 64 años y vuelvo al pasado a mi juventud, comencé a escuchar esta clase de música a los 12 años.

Holy shit. That was an amazing intro to a song. I am literally blown away by this performance. RIP you rock legend.
The other guys did all the work. TP only sang the song and put on a hat. Oh and acted. That's all Americans can recognise. The theatrics get them every time.
@@allen6924 toms the lead and has created and helped written numerous great songs and contributed A LOT to the rock n roll world so I’m pretty sure him just singing and wearing a hat is acceptable since he has done a lot of work.
