    Pink Panther
    Composed by Henry Mancini
    Arranged and performed by Jacob Koller
    This is one of my favorite cartoon movie classics by Henry Mancini. I started with a funky bass line and then switched to a walking bass line. It goes into a stride piano section before coming back to the main melody. It finishes with a quadruple time ending. I hope you dig it!

      Jazz isn't restricted to sheets like classical music. It's more on improvisation. Some jazz musicians have a chord progression to play with, but everything above that is played on the spot

    • @totophi
      @totophi 4 роки тому +17

      To Timmothy and Brent: it’s not lost on the majority of classically trained pianists that “true” jazz piano music is done by ear and improvised on the fly. However, it is no crime at all for them to want play music written *in the style of jazz*, nor for people like the Mad Arranger to develop and release scores in this manner. So if you’re trying to troll, give it up.

    Jacob it is always a pleasure to see your colours through your covers. I know you don't take requests, but still i want to tell you about a song i found and right after hearing it the first thing i thought was "this song needs a Jacob cover". Is "Here comes a thought" from the cartoon Steven Universe. It has a very wide and loyal fandom, and that particular song is a favorite for many people. If you could get the chance to see its music video, you would find it really beautiful as many of SU fans do. Let the song speak for itself, it is truly a wonderful, lovely and beautiful theme on love, understanding and relationships.

    EVERY time I come back to this video I see/hear things I didn't before. I absolutely "dig" this arrangement. You make an arrangement that "kicks (your own) butt", and then work it and perfect it to this level. Love that, too. As Yoda might say, "True to his art, he is".

      @@JacobKollerMusic Replying to a comment I made five years ago and you answered four years ago, for god knows what reason, I just heard one of the foremost concert pianists in the world say, in an interview, that if you are not playing a concert a little bit outside your comfort zone you aren't giving the audience what they deserve. Similar sentiment.

    Excellent! Pink Panther,Peter Sellers, Henry Mancini fan. Most of all I'm a drummer and this is right up my alley. Tomorrow morning I'm going straight to the drums and playing along with this! Love it! It's going to be in my head all night. I'm hearing a bit of Billy Cobham/Steve Gadd with hint of Roy Haynes (and every other drummer I love) ... Lots of things to try out on this as a drummer. Man all those years practicing was so worth it. Being able to communicate and improvise through music is a beautiful thing.
    Thanks for the inspiration 😎
