I never get tired of the night shots; the one I enjoyed the most was where the clouds partially hid the stars, going in the opposite direction. The deer captures were great. So peaceful and harmless. They looked delicious!
Not at all Katie, thank you so much. The deer in Shenandoah can be animated that is for certain. Within their herds are a number of personalities that make them really interesting to watch.
beautiful! ♥ .. oh my heavens, you make THE best vids ever!! i know i say that every time and maybe you are getting sick of hearing it (lol) but it is sooooo true! i especially loved the lone pine tree in the field (about 0:45) and the footage where you slide the camera forward towards the grey trees in the tall green grass (about 1:00). but, my favourite footage was all the footage you caught of the deer! amazing! i so "heart" you!! .. =D .. hugs, katie
The Panning is actually a Slider. A slider is a rail with a carriage attached. The camera is attached to the carriage, then the camera slides along the rails to produce an even vertical capture of well, whatever. Lookup "Kessler Pocket Dolly" to see what I mean Jim.
@drewnetwork Yes I am. It has been quite more surprising than I planned on it being moving to a full frame sensor. I really never expected things like slides improving like they have. It's kind of mind blowing. I was also happy to find out my camera passed the light leak test, and I was relieved to find that I could make the "Set" button the "Zoom" button. It's been very exciting using this camera. Oh, and I think I was wrong about the 200mm Minolta, judging from the deer shots.
That's great, I really like that. The fact is you live and breath in "Gods Country". With wilderness in every direction. It's hard for folks who reside in places like the Mid-Atlantic States to understand, or much of the US for that matter, but man oh man I do! If I was where you are, I'd do the same damn thing. I'm just glad you do it with a camera. For that I am sincerely grateful.
A friend of mine who has only had a computer for a year, and has been watching my videos just as long has just realized that he can change the resolution. Up until now he has watched all YT video content, including mine, at 360p in fullscreen. I half expected I'd be chasing that Doe through the meadow while it galloped off with my Z-Rest.
Thank you, I hope it inspires you to clean up the room LOL! Seriously though I know you yourself have dabbled with time-lapse and I respect your opinion, thank you sir.
I paid exactly what B&H Photo list the camera at. The price is almost exactly the same wherever I looked. As for a Canon 5D Mark ii used; it really depends on the condition, and shutter actuations (shutter count). You could probably find a Canon 5D Mark ii used, and in decent shape for around $1,800. It is still a very popular camera that Canon is still producing. The Canon 7D (a great camera) can be found new for about $1,500. The Canon 7D Mark ii is due out in a few months.
Everything looks better with your 5D Mark 3 (like the slides that are much smoother because of your wider field of view). I'm thinking you should be happy with your investment.
I think I've discovered that the Shenandoah deer simply don't care about anything early in the morning before they've had their coffee. If their hooves had middle fingers they'd be flipping me off, while they nonchalantly chewed their cud, and went about their business.
Can you kindly advise what your menu settings are? I just upgraded to the Mark III and my videos don't look nearly as good as this! (And I own f/2.8 EF Telephoto Lenses!) I'm completely new to the camera, and I'm afraid I'm not getting enough out of it. Clearly the resolution on this video is amazing. I would love to know what default settings I would need to change. Would greatly appreciate the help!
I filled it with Helium, so it was very light. I'm kidding of course. No really I use what is called a "slider" A Kessler Crane Pocket Dolly Basic to be more specific. I made a video about it somewhere on my channel, I posted it last year. Or just google pocket dolly.
Beautiful shots...and very well put together. Your videos provide a moment of peace in a hectic world.

Some spectacular shots and effects!! Quite enjoyable viewing Buddy!!☺
Thanks. Both shots were made with a Nikkor 20mm f/2.8 AI-s lens.
Thanks RoadKing. It sure was a peaceful evening up there. I get so use to the noise around here.

Great will take a look at it. Wan't to get a better tripod eventualy so I can swap heads
Wow !!!! is all I can say
I really like the 2 shots from 1:00 till 1:17! Which with lens did you shot those 2 shots?
Campground was full, so I "cowboy camped" in the Meadow. That was a nice break too.

They got close. They get curious if you don't move, and they investigate. The last deer in the video was sniffing my camera bag.
