I have some questions how often are you supposed to give your goats a bath? and what do you think is the best de-wormer/natural de-wormers for goats. thanks I love your channel:)
Hi Emersyn, i dont usually recommend bathing your goats. No harm if you need to for some reason, but it's certainly not required to do regularly, unless there's a reason of course, ie youre using a medicated wash for infection. Natural deworming is such a great question and so important to discuss with goats. You've inspired me to do an episode on it, to discuss the different options and evidence behind them. Some of our drugs/drenches are actually natural in origin, and it is a fallacy to assume that natural = safe. This is very often not the case. But I assume you mean things like diatomaceous earth, apple cider vinegar, etc? ANything other than drenches? Short answer, look in to Bioworma. It's a biological tool, with fungal spores, that hatch in the manure and eat the parasite larvae. Not an instant cure for the animal, but over time reduces the amount of parasites on the pasture. Diatomaceous earth I woudl feel confident declining, based on a massive lack of evidence. Apple cider vinegar I have on my to-do list to do a very indepth study of all the evidence out there before making a call. Stay tuned :) Barbavax is also really promising. Any of these need to be a tool in the toolbox, along with good grazing management. And if an animal is alreayd unwell with a large burden, none will do the trick- you will need a conventional drench.

I do have to give my buck a bath a couple times a year to avoid urine scald( my buck is always covered in urine so to get that off of him is nice). I've heard alot about pumpkin seeds and how there good for goats and worms don't like them so I've heard, I like to prevent everything instead of waiting tell there down. thank you very much to take your time to help all of us!
