She sure has embraced this to the max! All of her homeschool studies are oriented around goats now. Math problems about goats, reading and writing about goats, science/biology is all goat oriented😂
What a nice addition to the homestead, your daughter is a real pro .👍 You will have to get into goat soap making. You never do a project without getting it spot on , the goats love it .👍
Thank you Rick! This has been such a fun and rewarding adventure….tiring too. But a fun sort of tired😂 Marley has really been taking to being a little goat farmer too! Makes me proud 😊
Marley is already a pro at milking Bell 🥛The mini nubian choice is excellent. In a few years you will have so much milk. I can see Marley and mom making feta cheese, and goat soap projects! Joe the goat barn is beautiful, the entire gated play area toys and all are very inspirational 🙌 Love it!
Yeah! You finally got the goats! Kidds are so fun to watch. Of course all babies are adorable (I especially like the baby gorillas). Congratulations 🎉 ❤️🌵☀️⛈️🌈☮️🐎🐐
Joe...as always your projects are second to none. What you've created for Marley will be remembered forever. We went to see our friend's Nigerian Dwarfs the other night, 19 of them, and our grandson loved watching them hop around and jump. Always encouraged and challenged by your attention to detail and your extra-mile efforts to ensure safety. Thanks for sharing your journey with us and for allowing us to learn from you.
Thank you Darin! I appreciate that! And it sounds like your grandson might be getting the itch for goats too! They are so entertaining to watch and interact with😆👍
I want to say good job parents, kids now a days need this kind of involvement and responsibilities with animal care. This kid is smart and knows what she is doing…kudos !!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😎🫶🏼
Thanks! We are trying our best to give her the best most fulfilling life we can… and prepare her to be as capable as possible. Thank you for the kind words Jav😊🙏
Very interesting. Some interesting additions to the goat enclosure. Marley's segment and explanations were quite sharp. Have a great time during breeding season. Thanks!!
Yes she does! But she is loving every minute of it. Even most of her homeschool work is geared around goats now….math problems with goats as the subject, biology/science is all around goats/anatomy/reproductive function, etc,. Reading and writing is all goat related😂. But it’s been fun!
Thanks Pam! And don’t worry…I’m with you on getting sick. I tried spinning on it to make sure it was gonna be safe for Marley and her friends and had to get off because I got a bit nauseous 🤢 😂
Thanks Stef! I think she’s done such a good job at being a little goat farmer….Always making sure they get lots of treats, water and food filled up, reminding mom and dad when the goat milking time is. She even wants to sleep out there with them😂
@@homesteadonomics …….I’m in no way an expert but I imagine it has been, and will continue to be, a fantastic head start in life. I envy all the things she’s learning through experience. What a great addition to the homestead! Goats are a lot of fun and those two are especially so. I hope we'll be seeing a lot more of the goats and of Marley, too. Homeschooled girls are the best.
Yes they have a been a fun addition so far! You’ll definitely be seeing more…. And I think the trend is growing as our neighbors just got two bottle baby goats…. Like just a few days old. So now Marley is wanting to go over and help them out😂
They could use some rocks or concrete to keep the hooves worn. A good chunk of flagstone on one of the spools would work. Oh, now you figure out solar shielding.
That’s a great idea! Marley wants to Buick them a climbing wall…. So perhaps I’ll use some blocks or something to give them they rough surface for their hooves
Hello, Wow, the goat pen area has turned out really great, and hearing Marley sharing her knowledge about the goats is awesome. Seeing the kids running and jumping is so entertaining. I like the changes you made, the goats will be safer at night in their little barn.
Man Joe, this sure brings back some memories from my childhood in the old country where my brother and I were the goat keepers until I was nine years old and came to this country. The mama goat we had could produce close to a gallon of milk per milking.
What an absolutely MARVELOUS place for your daughter to grow nto a young woman! Wow, Marly's dad has it going on with all the enclosures, clean lines, painted finishes and everything. So Very Well Done!
Oh how adorable Joe & Marley, & Mom. What a fun project to do as a family. The little goats are so cute & funny. I can see that Marley really enjoys them & I think Joe does to? Congratulations on the new additions to the family. You need to get one of those dogs that are breed to be guard dogs now to protect your little farmstead. Them dogs stay w/the heard & will fight to the death to protect whatever kind of heard you have. Even your chickens. You might think about that Joe. It would watch things while your not there like camping trips that last longer then 2 days. Would be nice to know the animals would be safe when your away or @ night while you sleep. Have a great time w/them goats girl. Your amazing to have done all the research to be allowed to raise them right. WTG, Chris from Missouri

It's SO nice and FUN that I want to move in with the goats. Marley sure mastered the milking. She did an EXCELLENT job. I know she will win Blue ribbons for sure. GREATjob on the goat build. It is exceptional. ❤️ She is sure maturing into a young lady.
Thank you Tony! Sounds like you had a great childhood experience. We aim to take them on walks as well. Belle and Meadow walk pretty well….but peaches isn’t having any of it. Kinda like a cat… soon as the collar goes on she’s like a cat and won’t move😂
I think I’m gonna do that for a few nights and see what comes up?! If you see some clips in a future video you can know that you’re the inspiration for it😊🙏
As usual Joe, you made one heck of a nice enclosure for the goats! I'd like to be a goat now on your farm! :-) I've always been amazed at how "pet like" goats are. Peaches is absolutely adorable! "I just put that together in just about an hour" HA! That would have taken me all day! Or two! Marley will be a great goat mama! :-)
Yeah that can happen for sure. But luckily…. Or not so luckily we don’t get dew or much humidity except for monsoon season so condensation is more rare
Bell, the mom, is biting on the tree bark and tree leaves. You might want to put more wire mess around the trunk to keep the bark away from the goats. Otherwise, I really enjoy your new additions.
Yeah, I was thinking I’m gonna have to add some more wire up the tree. It provides a lot of good shade for the yard and I’d hate for it to end up dead from bark removal
Hi beautiful family 🥰 I just subscribed to your channel, wow your adorable daughter Marley just impressed me, she knows a lot about raising goats, they are so cute 🐐 God bless you and your precious family 🙏🏻
I love my Kinder goats--only dual purpose goat! half Nubian and half Pygmy so a smaller goat with high butterfat content and also great for meat! Goats are the best!!
Thank you both for another great post! I appreciate the thoughtfulness of your design and the quality of your implementation for the goat yard and goat house. Your animals are clearly well cared for and in good hands. A really informative and entertaining post. Again, thank you for sharing! Best wishes from the Virginia Piedmont.
Really happy to see the new additions. Watching the kids leaping around sure remind me of Marley jumping from rock to rock when you were out camping. It is easy to see why she likes goats. Did you folks like goat milk before you got them? This is going to be a great project and she is also becoming quite the on-air talent. Watch out dad, she is coming for your job. Thanks for sharing and always love videos that have the whole family.
Oh my gosh that’s one of our favorite camp spots! Back then she was all into the ‘parkour’ thing….. but now it’ll be jumping “like the goats” on rocks😂 As for the milk. My wife and and daughter had tried goat milk but I never had until now. And I’m not much of a milk drinker to begin with…. More interested in doing cheese or soap, etc,. BUT I have to say they Belle’s milk is really good! I was surprised! Tasted very mild, almost simlar to cows milk. So I’m not sure why people will say it has a taste. But then again they are eating mostly alfalfa and not weeds. So I’d guess once we start getting them out and letting them eat tiger stuff it’ll change the flavor a bit.
Marley went from the awkward kid in front of a video camera to a veritable creator within a year or so. Dad being a great example will give her the option to become quite an influence to deal with. Wish I'd had that example to grow from mate. You've done well.
Miss Marley did an outstanding job with her research 😍. As always, your projects turn out great !! How big is the Goat yard ? The goats seemed very happy !
Could you make a solar cooled water fountain for them? I’d love to see how such a cool water fountain could be assembled. It gets really hot there in the summer.
Congratulations on the addition to your flock. The improvements to the goat area are impressive. I noticed in the background of your closing statements that the tree is somewhat fenced and being nibbled on by the kids. What are your plans for the goat milk? Another great video, thanks for sharing this insightful, delightful video presentation. Wishing you and your family another blessed week and a gentle season. Peace brother
Thanks! It’s been a fun little adventure so far! As for the milk. We’ve been using it just like regular milk… with cereal, oatmeal, etc,. But I’ve got plans to try our hand at cheese making very soon. I’m not much of a milk drinker. So cheese and maybe some other things like trying it with some soap or lotion, etc,.

First thing we do is to double strain it through coffee filters. Then we throw it in the freezer which stops any bacterial replication. Then at that point it’s drinkable just as is. But we are also experimenting with pasteurizing some before freezing it for future use. So far the taste from the raw and pasteurized is almost unnoticeable. So if we are using it within the first day or two. We have just been using it raw. But if we are freezing for longer term storage, my wife is pasteurizing before hand.
Great project! Wish I had done a project like that as a youth! I just got my goats about 2 years ago at age 58 and they are fun! I have been using as much in natural products as I can. I do have a vet visit spring and fall but in between give them Molly’s Herbals natural dewormer to help keep them healthy. There are good tips on her website, in case you want to check it out.
Well, it’s never too late to get them… and it sounds like you’re having a ball! I love them already and we’ve only had them for 3-4 weeks! And thanks for the lead on the Mollys herbals…. Will check them out!
This is the wonderful life every man should live... Nothing just nature around you.. You are lucky man.. Greetings from Morocco
