    There’s no logic in shark movies:
    1. Sharks don’t eat humans, they mistaken us from seals.
    2. The Shark had a whale to eat.
    3. If they eat something, they don’t continue to eat. The food they ate can make them full for a month.
    4. Sharks can only look mostly up, not down.
    5. They attack from underneath.
    6. Sharks mostly give up after a while if their food is hard to get.
    Ur welcome for some shark information.

      @alvexok5523 2 роки тому +7

      @@hattielott7420 yeah, sharks aren't really as bloodthirsty as these movies make them. However, it's still probably not the safest move to swim in the ocean at a very deserted beach where sharks are also known to be there near the shore. The situation that girl got into in this movie isn't entirely unlikely. If a swimmer/surfer is stranded on a rock and can only get back to the beach by swimming through the water where the shark has recently been, there is a chance that she'll be attacked. What the movie exaggerated is that the shark won't suddenly swim to her the second she gets back in the water if it's like 100 or so meters away, and it won't just keep circling the rock waiting for her if there's a dead whale or another meat source around in the water

    Off note, I think that shark would care more about the dead whale that would literally give it enough calories to need to eat for weeks over a human girl that wouldn't. I'm being serious, a dead whale could easily feed dozens of sharks for a long time depending on the species of shark and whale.

    • @dennispremoli7950
      @dennispremoli7950 7 років тому +5

      Not necessarily. White sharks aren't able to kill a whale that size (usually at least). Whales are mainly hunted by killer whales( the irony is strong) who still only eat the brain and the soft tissues leaving the rest of the carcass intact. The white shark, with teeth which aren't all that strong, would then find little edible parts of the whale left.

    • @MrNottyNotty

      Biologists aren't the most original. Also, no, not really. Whales are only part of their diet, which includes penguins, birds, and seals. Hunting a whale takes enormous levels of endurance and coordination which requires lots of calories so it has very flexible risk/reward odds.

    • @StoicVeR
      @StoicVeR 7 років тому +51

      a crazy aussie guy disproved the territorial shark thing, and placed emphasis on the sharks strict hierarchical pecking order. The dude plopped into the water with the dead whale and all the feeding sharks, and the sharks were pretty meh about him. Also, I think there was another scenario wherein when sharks eat too much they get sort of dazed and drunk - they don't do much but float around and bump into stuff - boats and whatever.
      But maybe CGI sharks are different; they have different priorities and cravings.

      also, if she was able to cry of course, the cry would've just made the shark more curious and determined to get to her, and the shark, which i believe was supposed to be a great white, was the wrong kind of shark. great whites prefer cold water, not tropical water like where she was swimming. also, if there was a dead whale in the water, it would have definitely attracted way more than just a single shark, causing an all out feeding frenzy. Great whites are also deep water sharks and will rarely get that close to shore.

    100 sins for the damn whale carcass because a real shark would have glutted itself into near docility. It would not be hunting and risking injury from prey (seals do sometimes bite back) when it has a literal buffet available.

    Just saying, a shark would not have that much determination to kill/eat something when a giant whale is so close to it. Also, doesn't everybody know that sharks don't even like to eat humans? Most of the time, shark attacks are the result of mistaken identity. But I love this movie and know that this movie was made for the sole purpose of entertainment, not to inform people about sharks, so I'll just stop talking now.

    • @GeneralKenobiSIYE
      @GeneralKenobiSIYE 5 років тому +67

      The reason it seems like they don't eat humans is because they attack once then back off to wait for the victim they attacked to bleed out so they have less of a chance to suffer injuries. Well humans can do what shark prey cannot. Be rescued by other humans on watercraft, lifeguards etc etc, so their victim usually lives, but if they did not, if the humans they attack die in the water from blood loss, they can and DO take the dead person they attacked and feed on them. I believe that is why is SEEMS like they do not "like" human flesh, but thinking they don't could be a HUGE and fatal assumption to make.

    • @cowsharkdefin6376
      @cowsharkdefin6376 5 років тому +140

      @@GeneralKenobiSIYE Great White Sharks are warm-blooded, which requires a ton of calories and fat to maintain. That's why adult White Sharks eat seals and seal lions, which have a lot of fat. I imagine a very very fat person might work for them, but the likelihood of them surfing is probably not very high. For a shark to pass up a big whale carcass for a bony and muscular human being is like us passing up bacon-wrapped filet mignon for a single sour grape. Not. Gonna. Happen. Also once they get a tummy full of whale meat, these sharks get kinda chill and dopey*. Imagine how you get after Thanksgiving dinner; if a White Shark wore pants, it would undo its belt and the first button after a whale meal. I'd still recommend that you stay out of the water, but they won't be desperate for a meal. If the movie had a Tiger Shark, the behavior would be less ridiculous, because they're less picky in their meals, but even then they don't deserve to be demonized.

    Alright, let me just say why this movie doesn't make sense:
    1. A shark would not stay that set on killing her, especially after he just bit her. Unless that shark is desperately hungry, which is shouldn't be because of the whale carcass to feed on, it would not want to eat her anymore. Sharks don't like eating humans, they prefer seals and sea turtles.
    2. Sharks, again, would not stay around that long. They would move on because sharks need to keep moving forward survive.
    3. We haven't even seen any fish since the movie started other than the jellyfish, why the fuck would a shark be in an area without any fish-

      Hollywood seems to have forgotten how to do a good shark movie. There was Jaws for a serious take on it. There was Deep Blue Sea for a hillarious, gonzo take on it (genetically engineering sharks to cure Alzheimers - DBS just said Hell with it, lets have fun. But the Shallows had so little to it and was so contrived. And there was bugger all character development unlike, say, Jaws.
      Sometimes CinemaSins works hard to make up sins for a movie that is actually good. This was the opposite - it could have spent twice as long nit-picking problems with this film.

    I work in a hospital laboratory. I once saw a blood bottle drop down and burst open. The floor looked like someone was slaughtered there.
    But the blood bottle only contained 300ml of blood. That's not much. A human has approximately 5000ml ( 5l ) of blood in it's body.
    If you dilute maybe 500ml of blood in the water surrounding you, it would probably still look really severe.

    ACTUALLY cinema sins. All of the sharks nervous system sensors are in the nose! So even tapping it lightly will get it to very calmly swim away from you. Also no a shark should not be able to eat an entire metal buoy. If it could we wouldn't have diving tanks because the shark would just be able to eat that. The wave scene was not cool because that is NOT how sharks work. Sharks can just swim normally in a wave especially if (just by looking at the shark) that is the biggest great white in actual documented history!. Plus that's not even great white hunting grounds it's more like hammer head or bull shark hunting grounds I'm not even sure why the great white was here

      Ocean Blue Those wounds were likely inflicted after it died by many animals feeding on it. Also, the corpse probably travelled long distances before it got there, so it could have been killed by orcas further away and then carried by the currents to that beach. And some orcas do live/migrate in tropical seas, they’re just less common there.

      Alana I think the point was the whale was in this shallow kind of water and believe it or not sharks are kind of scavengers and the whale carcass was it’s source of food sure there a like million fish but it’s a million fish or a giant whale that I can eat anyway and will fill me up wayyy better sharks sense human blood which is why he keeps coming back Blake is bleeding a lot in this film which speaks for distaster in itself I think of this more as a shark defending it’s territory or food source like most animals instead of demonizing this creature sure he was tying to hurt Blake but it clearly became more of a she is still bleeding still attacking and was on this shallow reef bringing a lot more blood into the water naturally causing this creature to stay near you even after it was done feeding

    Interesting fact, sharks typically don't attack humans. This movie was a terrible idea, and the use of Instagram and face time pisses me off in real life, and even more in this movie

      Smmnmnm Nmnmnm Sharks are attracted to unusual sounds in the water. Open Ocean sharks are especially attracted to the sound of sinking ships. When the Indianapolis was struck by the torpedo, sharks were instantly attracted due to the noise. It didn't help that lots of the men jumping overboard were wounded.

    • @Itsintheappendix

      Key word is typically. Still sharks, like most animals, take an opportunity when they have one and those people were just floating sandwiches in the sea. Are you telling me you wouldn't eat a free sandwich?

    • @Redbird-dh7mu
      @Redbird-dh7mu 7 років тому +15

      Yeah, a shark wouldn't be that determined to kill a human, humans are too bony for a shark, and would only eat a human if it was really hungry, or if they were enough humans around to make up for the bones. But I doubt the shark would of even cared about the human

    10:57 Sharks are actually a rather vulnerable predator. Many of the prey that sharks eat do not fight back so it would be a great surprise and threat to a shark due to it's vulnerability to prey that fight back

    • @HonorableAssassins
      @HonorableAssassins 7 років тому +13

      Noot a great white. This is true for many smaller species, however a great white gives very few fucks, tricks like the 'hit it in the nose' dont work for them. Yet another reason to always carry a large knife while diving (the main one is that you could get tangled in plants, but should you ever be grabbed by such a large predator, a jab to an eye can be equally effective)

    At 4:42 it’s a close up shot of her eating an apple right-side up, then it cuts to a different angle of her eating the same apple by biting the side.
