Im assuming you're in the Springfield Missouri area as well. I been hearing a lot of people catching gizzards shad out there at Bagnell Dam with a cast net. Watching your video really helps me out. I didn't want to drive 2 hours away to stock up some bait for striper, but no choice. I found a spot here locally in Springfield with gizzards, but it's hit and miss.
It took my tank about a month and a half to get my bacteria established. As far as chemical treatment, I found sea chem prime is a little more cost effective than the tetra brand stuff
Very nice build! I built one almost the same. My bio filter is a plastic 55 gal drum. My tank is outside. I have 7 sunfish in there to get the bio going in the filter. In one week tank turned PEA SOUP GREEN. I now put a roof over tank to block the sunlight, thinking that may help. Any thoughts on my build?? I want to keep gizzards in there.
Yeah the sun will turn it green like that. The roof should help. Also spray paint the outside of the tank black. You can also add a UV clarifier to get rid of the green water. You’re gonna want to keep that water as cool as possible for shad.
Looks great, I need me one of those! Also, on a side note, that shad has AMAZING delt development!!!! 💪😂😂😂
Yeah, those are the results of adding Tren and small weights to the tank😆
Nice work Ben! I like your design & the thought you put into it. Simple and functional!
Thanks buddy! It’s my new favorite addition!
Super nice build! That’s a great job
Thank you!
@@anglersitch you are welcome!

How big of holes did u drill in the spray pipe? And how much was the 2500gph pump at harbor freight?
There’s a link in the description for the pump. I paid $90.00 for it. I drilled 3/8” holes in the pipe.
How often do you change the filter material?
I try not to. I don’t want to loose the beneficial bacteria that grows on it. I’m over two months now and havnt touched it.
