I'd try using your salt mixture on the Mt Dew Shrimp.. get them the color, then dry them out well with the salt mixture.. you may be on to a new product line. ;)
Hey Skipper, I see others beat me to the point...try salting the Mt Dew shrimp. Also, you added food coloring to the Mt Dew mixture, is that necessary?
that deeper sonar is sweet, gotta save up for a new one. a pike absolutely smashed mine. those dew shrimp reminds me of a trick my grandpa taught me, wed soak shrimp in blaccurrant syrup overnight then put them in salt for another night. it would work great with salmon, turned the bait deep red. worth trying. tight lines from Norway
8:39 With a spinning reel, always pump back and reel in coming forward with less line tension. They aren't made to built to winch in a fish like a bait caster. And you won't put jam your line on the spinning spool and screw up your next cast.
I've actually caught grouper offshore with buffalo wings" the bite slowed wasn't getting hits" slapped a wing on and got slammed, my buddy said gimme one " he got hooked up too" crazy as it sounds , seen a video with a snickers bar so I guess they like candy bars too as well as pinfish
I think the citric acid in the Mountain Dew breaks down the tissue of the shrimp instead of toughening. You might try coating them in untinted egg cure and letting cure for a couple of days in the fridge to see if that toughens them up. You could also try salt but I think that might react with the MD and make them unpalatable to the fish.
@@HeySkipper Pro-Cure makes a product to color or scenting salmon eggs. But people have using it for curing shrimp and chicken livers. Makes the bait very durable. I use this process for catfish baits. Bait never falls off.
@@HeySkipper Egg cure is a powder made up of borax and a few other ingredients that is used to prepare salmon egg skeins. It causes the fluid in he skein to turn to gel and toughens the eggs. Simply pat dry the shrimp then spread them out on a tray, liberally coat them with the egg cure, cover with plastic wrap and put in fridge for a few days then check them for toughness. If not tough enough and the cure has been absorbed sprinkle more cure on them and put back in the fridge for a few more days and so on. BTW I have had absolutely no experience doing this but knowing what the cure does to salmon eggs leads me to believe it should work.
I used Tabasco Sauce and diet Pepsi (separately in 2 containers) mixed in unpeeled shrimps, and catch Calico, Sand bass and even California Sheep Head using 3/0-4/0 hooks during the warm summer in San Diego, CA.
If you use a white bucket for shrimp they will mimic colors pretty much will stay clear and transparent what if you put them in a black bucket they will turn a dark reddish color to blend in with their surroundings
I agree add salt first or at same time. I don't dry salt mine . I buy fresh bring home salt in a bowl so I mix well. Then in the freezer until I'm ready to fish. I can use it a good 3 or 4 times (refreezing) and it works amazing. Everybody always asked what I do to my shrimp
As always, another entertaining and interesting video. I couldn't help but to think that the green shrimper fooling them vegan fish and they've never had seaweed. So delicious
We like to add a bell just above the reel seat , where we can reach one in the pole holders.. A tube on the back of the rod..a bell with a stainless steel rod fits in the tube..perfer a big bells
Awesome video as always. Thanks for sharing. I’m curious if that would work the same just with the green dye and no Mountain Dew? Certainly different colours of baits will attract fish on different days/conditions.
My rod broke so Im broken inside, not fishing for a while now unfortunately until whenever I get enough cash to fix it. Would Love to see more catch and cooks, especially a playlist for the catch and cooks PLEAAAASE
Leaving the skin/shell on should work just fine. I never peel my shrimp, it is natural. Other species don’t peel the shrimp before eating them in the ocean, lol.
Thanks for another great video, by far I watch your fishing videos more than any other fishing channel great job, always exciting to see what you're going to do next
I used to know a man that soaked his chicken necks in WD-40 for crab traps with incredible results, he always had more crabs than myself, I just wasn't willing to ingest crabs that had been fed WD-40.
Hey, appreciate the love and support!! Just to let you know I've got some killer fishing gear over at www.heyskipperfishing.com. Check it out-I think it'll help your fishing game big time.
In south east asia people use cake batter , cooking oil and some thing that usually human use to consume it catches fish like crazy for salt water and fresh, no its not a joke.
I'd loved this video very very much so that I'd would very much want like see other mountain Doew video. But but to use crawfish in mountain Doew whole crawfish for bate , using them in saltwater fishing 🎣 please. Thank You's for grate wonderful video
try using a bath scrubby, untie it and make a pouch using cheap dental floss to tie the soft plastic netting around the bait, it's strong enough to cast and still easy to get off the hook plus theirs 20 feet of doubled net in the scrubbies
I've firmed up chicken liver for catfishing. Maybe you can try it for the MDew shrimp. Dehydrate it in a dehydrater for about 2 hrs. It'll rehydrate in the water.
My wife has a cooking degree and that is where I found that out and she loves your channel so much cuz it's always unique and really cool same do I and that is why we wanted to suggest if you put baking soda inside your creation of mountain dew shrimp or/Shrek shrimp it will create the shrimp to have a firmer texture but still keep the Shrek color
I make my Mountain Dew shrimp... I go to Walmart and buy the Mini cooked shrimp.... I put them in the Mountain Dew add the food coloring same as you... And I hit Whiting and pompano.... Being there cooked they stay on the line the fish don't know the difference I got 27 Is Whiting and 3 pompano the other day....in Florida on the east coast side....
Hey Skipper and any others. I am still less than 1year into saltwater fishing and reside in Va. Pier fishing appears dead now. But when will surf fishing open up? What water temps or is it months that I need to wait for? Thanks in advance.
Wrap your shrimp with miracle fish wrap/thread. It will keep your shrimp on your hook. Surprised more surf fisherman don't use it....maybe do a show and compare it to not using it. I bet you catch more fish... :)
I'd try using your salt mixture on the Mt Dew Shrimp.. get them the color, then dry them out well with the salt mixture.. you may be on to a new product line. ;)
thats actually a great idea!
My thoughts exactly
I came here to say the same thing. Get the nice color from the dew, then dry it out and toughen it up with the salt
Hey Skipper, I see others beat me to the point...try salting the Mt Dew shrimp. Also, you added food coloring to the Mt Dew mixture, is that necessary?
Right….Salt pulls moisture out “food”
Shrimp soaked in cherry red Kool Aid works really well. The bright color of the red and the sweetness of the smell can attract a lot of fish.
Try using elasticated bait twine for softer baits like the Mt Dew shrimp. It will last much longer on the hook.
Magic thread is …… magic.
I really appreciate your videos skipper you have taught me a lot thank you 🙏🏾

tight lines from Norway
Just a suggestion, mountain dew yes, plus after the dew salt formula to toughen it and preserve it.
The co-k rod connector is pretty hilarious 17:32
Lol thats how I put my shrimp on the hook too. do the loopty loop 🤣 great video yall
8:39 With a spinning reel, always pump back and reel in coming forward with less line tension. They aren't made to built to winch in a fish like a bait caster. And you won't put jam your line on the spinning spool and screw up your next cast.
Excellent bro
Thanks! Are you entertained?
@@HeySkipper yes
Marinate shrimp in rootbeer, butterfly them, and fry them up. DELICIOUS.
Green 🍏 does work from what I witnessed last time I fished! 🎣
It works for sure! So funny to try it tho
You sending that blue fish off on the drone is one twisted fish destiny bro!! Haha
it stops fish from bleeding also.. pro's use it to save bass in tournaments... that's what I'm told..I need that sonar for my float tube!!

Egg cure?? What’s that? Interesting idea. Please elaborate
Green may be the thing.
