THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! My husband passed away almost 11 months and I never pay attention to all his chores in the house... this has been a challenge and you solved one of my problems!! God bless you!🙏🏼❤️🦋😷💪🏼
Hey Beatriz I just wanted to let you know you are not alone. My husband died of Covid in June 2020 since then I have tried my best to take care of what I have to and I also came here because my weed eater is giving me fits. I never paid one bit of attention to anything my husband was doing yard related but now wish I had. Life is a struggle but with the help and grace of God we will make it. My best wished to you. God bless you !
I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.
dude please demo the install. you cut it out of the video. Could you also please explain the previous line that was in the reel was it already expended?
@@paulchaney7762 You have to get mad... cuss... call it an SOB.. and use pliers and big screwdrivers that make it not was work the same ever again. That's my method.
@@paulchaney7762 From another post: Sam Fuchs 1 year ago you will need to take off the head to remove the string. The big knob turns clockwise to remove, just the opposite of most threads. you will need to aline the arrow as he described when putting it back together.
Dang I wish I had watched this sooner! I was trying to physically take apart the unit not realizing you just had to line up the arrows and run the string through. Thanks so much!
when ive done what u have said often find that trimmer line is so curly that when put thro side hole it twists and will not come thro middle and out via opposite side hole, i've had to take it apart and introduce manually and thread thro side holes by hand
Thank you! I was trying to just fold the line over and wrap it and it wasn't working; although my model's a bit different, the video cleared it right up. Good folks at Ryobi, if you're reading this, this is the sort of information that might be useful in an operator's manual.
Soo good, Sooo easy. I found this video after manually wrapping the line around and using the notches to hold the line as shown in other videos but I took it apart and did it again just to see how easy it really was and yep it really was that easy.
This technique does work - but I’ve never been able to load it as easily as you do - I developed a technique of simultaneously pushing and twisting the line to get it to go through the head. I find the twist helps it clear whatever internal gates it has to get through whereas pushing alone gets it jammed up…
How do you know how far to screw the hub down to hold the head in place? I’ve been screwing it all the way so when I bump it it won’t auto feed the line out.
Not bad but not showing how you get the arrows to line up and not showing how you get the cord to wind in leaves a fair bit to guess work so partially helpful.
By far, the worst design. I could take a Stihl head apart and restring in about 45 seconds. I sit here and continue to try threading the line through for at least 5 minutes every couple of months. The arrows are line up but the string only wants to go so far before getting blocked and stopping. Without fail, every time.
So twist the top he says- Yea, in which direction- the same as the 'rewind' direction (arrow), or opposite, so that then the line does rewind in feeds out in the direction of the rewind arrow? the most crucial part of the video is clear as mud....
Thank you so much! I am 60 and grew up with trimmer heads you remove and rewind. I was about to drive over this month old thing out of frustration. The instruction booklet that came with mine (in SA, new 1000 watt trimmer) still demonstrated the old type spool I was used to. Ryobi will hear from me.
Thank you very much! I’ve been disassembling the head my entire life. Need to back that camera up though - maybe get someone else to hold it. Still thank you!

No, you put new line on the spool. that is what this video is all about .I have been using the same spool for four years, just put more line on when it gets empty.
I'm with you i have to take mine to the shop to re-spool. Echo has a model with 2-line Rapid-Loader for easy line changes. All you do is load two 8-in pieces of line when needed and of you go.
So turn right tighty? Clockwise? Another question, my leftover line is still wrapped. I think there's a knob which may enable me to take apart the string encasement. If it doesnt work , will look for another vid
Do you have a video of how to take apart the unit?as that cap that says off won’t come off and I have my string stuck inside which needs to come out properly for me to use :( The cap is very much tight and stuck on any tips????
How do you take the head apart? I tried and couldn't do it. I think there's line broken off inside, making it impossible to feed it through as shown in the video. I did it once, feed it through that is, then when the line was used up, I couldn't do it again.
@@jasonlarsen4945 the way I did it: there is a big round nut with a bolt in the middle. Unscrew that and it should pop out. I had to use pliers the first few times to get leverage. You may have to give it a slight twist for it to pop out. There will be two arows 180° apart from each other. On the sides or bottom. Above the arrows there should be a hole. This hole runs all the way through. Make sure that is clear.when puting it back together do night tighten it all the way down, leave room for it to move up and down when pressed. Line the arrows up with the exterior holes, mine were not perfectly lined up, it took a little motivation to get it through.
Mine is wasting string like crazy. I’ll go through a whole spool on a medium sized lawn. It used to work great, but doesn’t now. Any ideas what could have gone wrong?
A little disappointed. I watched the video to see the line actually being threaded on the spool. When you got to that point you did a cutaway and, abracadabra, the line is on. Next time please show the entire process.
Have you a video on how to take one of these heads apart? I strung up the one on my strimmer and the string broke off in the head, cant get it apart. Thanks in advance
Could you please shoot me a link to where I can purchase that exact replacement head? I've been looking all over and only see the newer head... which I don't like.
Yes it does, normally most should be wound clockwise(while you have it upside down). Also look for tiny arrows that might be there to point you in the right direction.

How do your clear out last remaining old string ?
