Yes that happened to me too. Repeat of previous story. I hope I didn’t miss what happened to Hildebrand’s daughter. I thought setting would go back to Jamaica but now in Seychelles. By the end I hope it will “sort itself out”. PS I am binging on these wonderful books. Thank you for making them available Audible Gold.
I just followed the route given to Bond from the story For Your Eyes Only on Google maps. It would take James 18 hours to walk from Frelighsburg to Echo Lake, VT (the one up by Canada, there are two in Vermont).
Not my favorite but a very great read. I'm going chronological and so far "Casino Royale" and "From Russia with love" have been my favorites. Thanks for the upload.
Yeah I feel a lot of Fleming's work tends to circle back to his own personal experiences, so it wouldn't surprise me to learn that a lot of the love interests in his stories are based on a smaller number of women he personally knew.
By the time you read "The Hildebrand Rarity," "Goldfinger," and "Diamonds are Forever," you can see that Ian Fleming really despised Americans. Felix Leiter is about the only American he didn't write as a complete fool or bastard. It must have been very difficult for a former WW II British intelligence officer to see the British Empire losing its colonies and power after the war while the United States grew more and more influential.
The character in "The Hildebrand Rarity" is a particularly unpleasant sort - I certainly hated him reading it. But in fact Ian Fleming spent a lot of time in the US, supposedly helping found the CIA. I don't think he hated them at all. There was indeed consternation in some people about the shift of power. A lot of Brits didn't really want an empire any more, and we certainly couldn't afford it - but at the same time British people in the 50s probably had a hard time adjusting to not being one of the most important countries in the world - who wouldn't?
From 4:34:30 to 4:3738 the story reverts to the previous one. Impossible to tell how much was lost from the last story.
Good catch, just keep a note of this, y'all

Ian Fleming is/was a master of pacing.
This is my favorite narrator

Judy (For Your Eyes Only) has a lot in common with Honeychile Ryder from Dr No.

@@theragingrodent__ My thought was that they were both a sort of perfect fantasy girl in Fleming's imagination
This book didn’t get the best reception, but I find it a nice change of pace.
Glad you enjoyed
one of my faves.
Glad to hear. Which is your favorite short story?
for your eyes only, and from a view to kill are great. also i quite liked the story told in quantum of solace and it’s meaning.
Hildebrand rarity!What a story!THX!and Quantum of Solace!!!!
Let's be honest, Milton Crest's voice is the narrator's best impression of Sean Connery- lol.
Sounds fuck all like Sean Connery
@@Ceej_MM I just said it was his best impression. I didn't say it was any good.
His voice on its own w/o a comparison is fine. It's very good.
Highly doubt he's doing an impression
Book’s ok. I enjoyed reading Casino Royale
