Great pacing too. The old time radio recordings are so frenetic and the quality, well, it is what it is.
I've seen the Dick Powell version of this (Murder, My Sweet) several times; I have also read the book, but it was a long time ago. I assume this is closer to the book than the movie was, but the movie was very neatly written, in my opinion. Anyway, I like the digs Marlowe made about Hemingway and Dashiell Hammett.
