    It’s such a pleasure, watching my own ideas coming to life. I will move into my new place soon, and I’ll start building right away. The mixer is a great addition to the setup. Only one wish: It would be great to see a single project, coming to a complete end: As it is now, I have to search your library to find out, what’s going to feed the heating coil. Anything else is absolutely great!
    Thanks for sharing 👍

    Hello from Britanny in France .Very interesting about your vidéos on biogaz system . Just an advice , you should heat the cubic tank from outside instead from inside , because the copper coil wich can be corroded by years with acidity of methanisor process , and because the heating will be more homogeneous from outside . And without any coil inside , you could have the space for a bigger propeller to knead the biomass . 😉

    I've now watched the first 4 vlogs on your biogas digester, but you haven't yet talked about or shown us whether and how it actually is working! One thing I don't understand how the liquid fertilizer goes UP that pipe to the outlet. Why didn't you just have it come out of the side of the tank towards the top? Can you say something about that? Also, how and where are you using any of the biogas that gets produced? Do you have to pressurize the gas? How much biogas does a digester of your size actually produce and how much (volume) do you have to "feed" it and how often? Another question I have is whether or not it's possible to make a system like this your primary septic system to process all of your black water? And if this is possible, how could you set the system up to be able to receive the sewage from your home directly, without having to manually collect and load it into the tank? Would there be problems with the liquid to solids ratio? Would you need to have a shredder/mixer as part of the system prior to the slurry going into the tank or could you just have it go in as is? I'm thinking that a slurry would make it much easier to "digest!" 😂
    Anyway, I have SO MANY QUESTIONS I would love to have you respond to! 🤗 I guess I will have to go back and see whether anyone else has asked questions which you have answered in your previous videos and this one, but it would be helpful if you would talk about how it is performing at each step of the process in the beginning of your videos.
    Many thanks for posting your videos and showing how you do everything in such detail. A lot of videos talk about what they've done but don't show the actual process of building it the way you do! Much appreciation.

      I am not a chemical ingeneer so i cant answer you this question, Iam sure stainless would be the best solution, I try to make somthing out of plastic but it dose fit like i want because it don transfer the heat and it was hart to fit it in the digester. Stainles is unpayable so copper is the next better solution wil see how long it last.

    How about the corrosion from the hydrogen sulfide? I'd imagine the straps and screws are going to be reduced to rust quite quickly?
    I like the way you constructed the rubber membrane to create a seal, but how gas tight is it? Do you have a (portable) H2S meter, it's recommended since hydrogen sulfide can be quite deadly in confined spaces. Still have to go watch the other video's you made. I really like your DIY approach, but I seem to be missing a lack of warning on most video's regarding this deadly component of biogas.

    • @dsfarmns2823
      @dsfarmns2823  3 роки тому +1

      I used stainles bolts and nuts so far I had. The straps are plastic coverd But you are right and I like to change that in the future anyway but you can only use what you have (lots of time where we live its hard to find the material you need) and what you can find. The rubber seals the tank realy good way better than the uniseals i made a pressure test with compressed air and because i used the flanges there is a big surface that seals and the liquid that comes up in the pipe from the mixer seals the mixer that no Gas come out at the motor (Drillingmaschine end) so it dont need an extra seal or gasket and thats the reason why that mixer support is a litlle higher than the fertelizer water outlet. And in our case Iam not worry about if a litte of the gas comming out becaus the setup of the digester is anyway only in a big tent wich is not air teight and realy good ventilated because we dont have a basement. Thank you for a comment like yours, most of the time I think a lot about the Biogassystem and if I build something I dont talk about it but this gives me the chance to explain what I was thinking when I build it that way.

      @@dsfarmns2823 thanks, clarifies a lot actually. Sometimes we gotta work with the materials at hand, but yeah the strapping is probably going to rot out :)
      Good to hear that you tested the rubber seal beforehand. I would have loved to have that information included in your video. Your channel is a bit of a treasure to find, but it requires a lot of sifting to find the relevant information.

    • @dsfarmns2823
      @dsfarmns2823  3 роки тому +1

      You may be right, but that's because our channel covers everything to do with homesteads, farming and safe money, what happens in daily life on a farm or homestead or what problems arise and conventional sometimes unconventional solutions and ideas to solve them.
      Our goal is always to make these things as simple as possible and to implement them so that everyone can imitate them with what is currently available.
      Of course, I would personally prefer a solution with stainless steel and would also like to implement it, but that is always a question of cost and unfortunately not possible with the current size of our UA-cam channel.
      I think that would also question our basic thinking because with the right change everything is possible but not the point.
      Of course we are also open to suggestions for improvement and suggestions, but for this we need viewers who write comments, to which we can react, which is very difficult for many viewers

    Hey watching you videos they are great. you must have the information that I´m looking for. How much Biogas do you produce per month with your digester out of on IBC best would be in a comparison with LPG in Bottles. I have a consumption of approx. 300kg per month at different locations on my property. I want to compress the Biogas in steel tanks for transport. how much material do you add every day and how much Biogas raw do you get every day out after air filtration and dewatering the Gas. Would be nice to know these things. Only then I could calculate how many tanks I would have to convert. The Heating problem I do not have as I live in Mexico. The temperature never goes below 15 C° and that is only for 4-5 hours at night. Trying to get off-grid here.

      @dsfarmns2823  3 роки тому

      It is hard to say we don't have a counter to count the amount of biogas and it is diffrent depens what you fill in the digester (how energy rich it is). I like to use the heat from the woodgasifire but i cant't do it now there are not in the same building and the gasifire is far away and that would be a future project hoffely for this year but first i have to finish this with the electric power and the solar setup.

      @@dsfarmns2823 thanks for sharing have a few more questions as I too live Canada.. from what you have observed with what you're feeding your digester the simple question would be is it worth investing for the amount of gas that get from it in a cold climate like canada.

    • @dsfarmns2823
      @dsfarmns2823  3 роки тому

      These question is not quite as simple as it seems, I want to say is is a question of your own philosophy of course an investment in time and material is required just as it is important to know what amount of biomass is available to me to produce biogas, do i have a garden waste , kitchen waste, trees with leaves, grass cuttings from my backjard or cow dung or rabbit dung, and how much of it.
      We have a small farm and therefore enough of all this waste, energy-rich waste. Why waste it.
      Of course, all of this waste is also compostable and then fulfills another purpose but only one.
      When converting the waste to biogas, it is not only one, does energy come in the form of gas, which can be used in many ways, but also a highly concentrated fertilizer for the garden or farm which in turn helps the plants to grow.
      In other countries of the world, for example Europe or Germany, where we come from, large biogas plants are operated that are heated with their own gas and are still economical.
      You can buy anything with money - it's just a question of how expensive it is.
      My goal is to build a biogas system that anyone can recreate, so it is feasible and affordable and also works in cold Canada.
      if this system also works in winter I will build a bigger one that can handle all of our waste on the farm and convert it into free energy, so thats giving me independence and self-sufficiency. It opens doors, free electric power with free heat (if you ran a engine with it) free gas to cook and much much more depensce what you make out of it and it is sustainable and save money at the end.
      I say yes.
