for someone like me who is looking forward to make bio-gas plant there is so much to learn Thank You & UA-cam keep it up looking forward to more of such videos
Excellent video I appreciate you filming your experiment. To stack on to the safety warnings if your bleach solution becomes too acidic you're going to have a chlorine gas generator. This is what commonly kills people when they accidentally mix bleach with vinegar or ammonia.
The steel wool filter should be safe to chuck in the trash as iron sulfide( the end product) is not water soluble and is only mildly toxic if ingested. Check with your local waste peoples but in these amounts it should be considered ok to chuck it in the bin.
I wonder if u ground up the whool stuff and made it denser if it would scrub better? And does the scrub process need to be in a certain order ? Litter, Whool then water ?
Didn't watch the whole video as i'm just quickly browsing and seeing whats out there for these sorts of ideas ;) Just be careful of H2S as it will kill you quicker than CO2, and yes it smells of eggs, but if its around and you don't smell eggs, that's when the ppm is a little higher, you lose your smelling sense due to the concentration and you pass out and die. Not sure how or if you are venting the H2S, but just be aware of the dangers with H2S. I'll watch the video in more detail later. The dangers of H2S are drilled into me at work for enclosed space entry on ships (tankers).
Hi I made a bio digester on a water tote 250 gallons I compressed the bio gas I didn't make a filter and the flame is blue and yellow orange could it be contaminated thanks help
I learned to be mindful of where I put the spent steel wool after it melted the plastic bucket I put it in. Once the steel wool gets exposed to air again the oxidation reaction is exothermic. It probably would not have happened if I changed out the steel wool sooner!
Hi love ur videos do u have trouble with the water not push through the 20L drum mine would rather over flow the digester then push gas through 2 inches of bleach water. Also what's ur ratio of bleach to water cheers
Just a small comment I didn't see around. As a means to see the actual contents of the individual filters I do like the DIY option. However for something like 15 bucks a piece you can get 10 inch waterfilter housings. Looks really clean and includes all the parts needed. You could put two mesh filters in a row, first one gets eaten, move the second to the first position and refresh the filter for the second position. Same for other filters if needed, however clay is dirt cheap and so is water, so you can just switch them out more often, but I do like the option of having the first filter be completely used up before replacing.
Thank you Lucky for this, very interesting. I like to try something like this and have a questions; What happens if you skip all filters and scrubbers all together ?
The egg smell is from the Fe2S3 breaking down at room temperature and releasing H2S. So it’s best not to smell it and put the filter material directly into some Fe2O3 powder(rust) to further process It down.
Dude please be careful smelling stuff. ✌💚🖖 Hydrogen sulfide is a mucous membrane and respiratory tract irritant; pulmonary edema, which may be immediate or delayed, can occur after exposure to high concentrations.(like sniffing scrubbers) Symptoms of acute exposure include nausea, headaches, delirium, disturbed equilibrium, tremors, convulsions, and skin and eye irritation.
Why dont you use biogas analyser to check output gas.....it tells you purity of biogas....ch4 and h2s also....so if purity of ch4 gets below 95% you can change the filters
9:04 I encountered a similar thing too! I was geeking out on all sorts of commercial chemical reactors, and r a n d o m l y - p a c k e d - b e d is fancy for "tube filled with small stuff".
weight of hydrogen sulfide sinks to the bottom compared to other gases.co2 gas stays above other lighter gases. The last gas to come out is hydrogen sulfur. You can also turn carbon dioxide into a by-product with sodium hydroxide. Carbonate is beneficial for plants.sodium hydroxide directly absorbs carbon dioxide. It neutralizes it and carbonate is formed.
Maybe charcoal, the kind used for fish tanks/aquarium filters, can clean the smell out of the gas mixture in lieu of the clay/kitty litter? Or maybe even charcoal briquettes broken up?
However, do keep some of the h2s inside the purified methane. Not much, but the H2S can act as a smell indicator incase the tank leaks, much like tert butylliol is used in LPG leak indication.

I can’t wait to set this up on my farm . Your filter idea is perfect.
How do you know when to change the glass wool??
What can be done to dispose of the various filter materials safely once they're expired?

Can you tell me what is this white gravel in th white pan that comes from the scrubber.thank you very much if you can answer.
How do you dehydrate the methane once it comes out of the water?
Is there any way of testing the biogas percentage as it comes out of the digester (pre filtration) opposed to it coming out of the storage bag?

I tried to located the see through filtration canisters on Ebay and had no luck. Can you advise that name or manufacturer. Thanks
Out of curiosity, what happens if you use granular salt to extract moisture 🤷🏿♂️
Thanks mate, really enjoy your vids
Would filtering the bio gas through a liquid filter of all vinegar neutralize anything, on its way to the steel wool filter?
enjoy your vlog, keep the good work
Hi I made a bio digester on a water tote 250 gallons I compressed the bio gas I didn't make a filter and the flame is blue and yellow orange could it be contaminated thanks help
A yellow flame shows contamination. Pure biogas burns with a pure blue flame
Look into adding a “liquid line filter dryer”. They are used in hvac systems to remove moisture and contamination from ac system refrigerants.
Sure, silica gel will do that
what material are your tanks made of ? I'm a welder and I'd like to make a biodigester but in metal, would that work ?
should have coating inside your tank, i think?

Hey...have you tested for the concentration of gases present after the purification
Testing costs a lot here in aus, I’d like to but yer, it burns, that’s enough for me being domestic
hey mate, love your vids. Do you use chlorine in your water? Chlorine can oxidize the H2s
How’s your digesters doing
After purification, approximately how much gas is lost???
Where u are?please want to trining
When and how do you recharge the clay palletz
Not sure what continent you are on / As this makes a difference . I am looking to experiment with one in the UK.

Cool thanks mate.
You can re-use that clay for cat litter ...lol 😂
Please helpe me why a lpg is filtering
Great vid!

H2S + 2NaOH → Na2S + 2H2O, is this the correct formula?
I enjoy your videos by the way
Hello Sir, what's the name of the solution which removes CO2 ? I didn't get it clear from the video.
its water and bleach, but i would not suggest it if you are not changing it like every other month or so. just use water.
saudações Brasil parabéns pelo projeto

You should sell plans to build a system like this.

wow the last leg of that video was tough to watch as you suffered from the stench of the bleach. 🤣

i want to made this kind of bio gas plant, can you help me.....
Yes to biogas

The clay is more for drying than smell absorption.

My digesters are cranking
Anybody else cringe as soon as he started smelling things? H2S is deadly, just opening the system like that made me cringe.
Dzień dobry.
