One great bit of trivia about the griffon is that it was a complete surprise. Anet did not advertise it or say anywhere that there would be a flying mount in PoF - and since the unlock for it is at the end of the expansion, it was a few days until the community realized that it was a thing and word spread.
i was so surpised on launch when i finished the game and went back to amnoon to flex the jackal... only to see someone sitting there on a mount i had never even heard of haha (think it was the trial one from nest tho)
@@ohboiipedersen3010 shit, the same thing happened to me. Went back to flex a jackal, found a guy fucking flying on a griffon and everyone in amnoon losing their shit
I wonder how they kept it from That Shaman and his datamine ways. I wonder if they paid his ass to hush 😂
@@starwasteland I believe that_shaman has said before that if he encounters major spoilers, he doesn't disclose those and actually communicates them to ANet so they can be further obscured or removed from the live build (before the feature is fully released) to make it more difficult for less scrupulous dataminers from spoiling stuff. But there are ways for ANet to entirely hide thim - just don't put them in the live build at all until they're ready to be uncovered :)
Yes I just started seeing them in the air and was shocked and hurried to get mine. Same with skyscale, I actually thought it was a skin for the Griffon.

@@condorX2 massive and complex while very much respecting your time. I often play just once a week and I do not fell left out much while other weeks I play nonstop and have always a new shiny goal to look for.
@@condorX2 I played gw1 for about 2k hours and just now started playing gw2. Well, I played it for like a month on release, but since it was so different, I was turned off. But damn, is this this a beautiful and addicting game. I just got all the expansions and am about to beat em all. 😎

Jadebots from EoD help too. The glide boost when used with the bunny trick is almost enough to do a full dive from flat ground and the jadebot mount stamina regen is nice as well.
I cannot express my emotion enough of how amazed i was through out the whole video. As a GW2 veteran, you have completely impressed me as an MMO reviewer. The Griffon part LITERALLY gave me goosebumps. Well done!!!
I haven't played SOTO yet but so far POF still has the most beautiful zones in GW2 imo, not to mention how perfectly designed around the mount system they are. Exploring the POF maps was a blast.

Your style of narration, excellent humour, along with great cinematography, truly make for excellent content. One thing that stuck with me about GW2 in general was that I, who came back after 5-6 years and hadn't thought all that much about it, /still/ remembered enough about the story and characters that I genuinely was so happy to see them again.
Say what you want about the story, but if you can craft something that makes me feel like I've come home, I'm happy enough.
Remember that Journalist that did a cuphead "review" and couldn't beat the tutorial? Yeah this is the exact opposite end of the spectrum from that.
You did wing 6 and 7 raids, fought QADIM, did the chalice of tears volcano jumping puzzle, and did the griffon collection for this video.
Absolutely amazing dedication. It's clear you were enjoying yourself and we love to see it.
Damn i remember playing this game over 10yrs ago 😲 it blew my mind back then, was defo one of the best mmorpgames at the time. Might have to jump back in

Anet should hire you to do their PR! This is such a beautifully prepared video! It makes me want to see if I can tweak my video settings up a bit, since I had to turn them down when I started PoF as my comp sounded like a jet taking off during the opening of the expansion (all of that fire!).
I wish I could play PoF again for the first time. This video gave me chills! ❤️
What's most impressive about this video series is the almost unrelenting amount of quality and the fact it keeps getting better and better (as if he's mimicking the game it self).

Regarding Living Story: It might be a paywall after the fact, but if you log in to the game as the content is released, it is unlocked for free.
hope season 4 and ice brute saga get their own video. those 2 where quite insane story wise.
Season 4 was 8/10 cuz ending fights were a bit lacking.
Icebrood was 90% a 3/10. Generic af slow and frustratingly dark story, especially forcing players to play as Rayan and help kill Almorra. I literally let her kill me a few times hoping I could progress the story that way.
Creatively, they copied the last of us 2 too much. What makes it truly psychologically bad was the lack of choice. It felt like being forced to play the bad guys, to accept being evil, I guess. And I'm not THAT much of a a psychopath to enjoy it.
Only the 3 last chapters are good. Rest...makes me feel like I wanna burn my pc and bleach my eyes...
Oh, but I guess Icebrood maps were cool. The Charr Concert was awesome! Bjora marches was okay 6/10 cuz map freezing is annoying af and the achi mastery points are cancer. The woods was well-crafted but map LAGS A LOT!
But again, burn Icebrood Saga story to the ground! Hate that shit like I have never hated a game story before...

Just finished PoF and got my Griffon last night. Really enjoying the game. Great balance of story and intricate gameplay.
Maps full of secrets, loot, stuff to do.. great game. Shame it took me so long to find it.
Path of Fire was a life changing experience for me. I’ve been dreaming of a game where mounts were used like this. They took my dreams, and improved them ten fold with the gryphon and rollerbeetle.
I think I saw you do it but in case you didn't know, flapping while diving on the griffon will give you a huge speed boost until you pull up (you can still flap to try to stay aloft). It's really helpful in the next expansion as there is a lot of tall verticality and valleys built in to zoom across the map with it and should give you some footage to drool over. Enjoy Living World 4 and the Skyscale. Wonderful showcase as always!
I started playing GW2 since 2 weeks, bought all the exspans. But these videos make it way better for me, it motivates me to start raiding. Thanks for all this!

Great video! I really hope your next video is Season 4 and Icebrood Saga (Season 5) before EoD! The narrative and gameplay quality hits new heights and in my opinion really starts to show Arenanet's mastery of their craft in this game. Also those 2 seasons are massive.
I am a new player. I am stuned at every corner. The world is so organic, I think is very casual to new players, and becomes more and more complex. Also the skills, the world interaction, the Masterys super cool idea. Even grinding is fun in this game. This is the place where I will retire, as a gamer. I play games for more than 20 years, and now, finnaly I got a mmo that respects my time.

@@RiftTraveller Yes mate, I don't know what to say, why I haven't played this jem these years. I struggled with so many mmo's, the toxicity, the insane grind. When we were kids, there was magic in games. Now days, it disappeared, is only grind and pseudo-professionalism. In GW 2 I had so much interaction with the world, the players, everything. In a big boss fight people stop and try to resurrect as much as they can, even if they die. Everyone is helping.I just started HoT. It's amazing!!! The verticality is mind blowing
@@bilibistrox I agree completely. If you haven't started already, I highly recommend playing through the Living World story seasons in sequence with the expansions. It is all one big story that keeps building on itself.
@@RiftTraveller I finished first 2 story's for the LW 1, and I finished the first missions for HoT and PoF just to unlock the maps for daily's and gold farm. Is so cool that the story is practically a tutorial for new content, and is so intertwined with the world, the events and practically with everything that players do. Is not a super top notch story, but hey, the best old school games don't have a cool story, they have a magnificent journey. So glad i found this game and this community. As the time passes, more and more will come to GW 2, after they got burned I other games.

Raiding is actually one of the most rewarding content types when it comes to armor. It’s one of the only places to earn legendary armor, which is the top tier, stat selectable armor usable account wide.

I've played this game on & off for a decade now. The flying sequence at 8:30 gave me chills. Thanks for that experience & an extremely well put-together video.
I remember PoF coming out my freshman year of college and being in love with Elona, I tried recruiting my roommate to play with me for a bit and I remember looking forward to getting back to my dorm to work on the griffin collection. I was definitely lucky to have so much time on my hands back then; I hit my 7th anniversary shortly after EoD and I haven't logged on since I beat it
I just want to say you are WRONG about the GRIFFON! It is way more than an advanced glider, the same mistake almost all people make when they get it. You can fly forever if you know how to fly and get all the mastery points. You can gain height flying upwards by speed diving down and doing the same back up, but using your flap wings along with them after going up to gain height.
It is the fastest mount in the game as well. You have to be a bit higher up to fly a lot, but not very high once you know the springer trick. Charge your springer jump and dismount right before it goes off. You will be sent flying upwards off your mount. Then mount griffon and go. So less height needed to fly it. Check out the Acrobats of the Sky griffon flying guild for more info!

Living world season 4 gets even better story-wise, and you'll absolutely love End of Dragons if you love the care arenanet puts into expansions.
Second this comment, SO TRUE! LWS4 was probably my favourite story out of all of the GW2 story. Just the amount of content and care that went into it is mind blowing. And yes, EoD gets even better ;-)

There's no MMO that can compete, even close, with the beautifulness and variety of landscapes that GW2 has
I don’t even need the mats but I still farm the season 3 maps bcoz I like them so much. And with recently finishing my skyscale, it was a joy to revisit POF maps in depth. Took my time in the maps for some immersion. Great music in POF too
It should be noted once the griffin is fully mastered it can flap while diving to pick up speed, so when you pull back up you'll be at the same height you dove from.
Started playing in 2013, done all the story but still was waiting hyped up for these videos you put out, excellent stuff. Cant way to get your reaction to EoD.

I LOVED this review! As soon as I saw the video, I made myself a cup of tea, sat down and indulged in the visual masterpiece you created! I love how you highlight this game, and gosh, I can't wait for more people to see this. You did the game justice, and that's so difficult to do because there's so many things. So many MMO players are jaded and they completely wrote off this game. Asmongold wont even give it a second look; and I *know* he'd love this... just waiting for him to see what its about. He gave it a look, and iirc i think he did try it off stream once, he said that wvw and jumping puzzle aspect are best , but the amount of flashiness puts him off.
And I saw him play ESO, the guy quit because there was so many ppl following him and ruining the experience. Theres no doubt in my mind that gw2 would do that too if he was to ever stream it. He would loath it at that point.
Half of gw2 community would love to have him, and other half not. So its pretty clear where we stand on the subject.
The Griffon was simply icing on the cake when looking at the mounts when I first got through PoF. It was simply an excellent wrap up to the rest of the features in the game.
I look forward to your opinions of Season 4, probably the best story short of EoD.

With the griffon as you dive hit the jump/space bar and you will go into a super speed mode that lets you fly faster, further, and higher
I kinda hope that season 4 and icebrood saga gets it's own video, as it features great highs and interesting lows when it comes to content (strikes, meta events, massive maps, dragon response missions and more). Season 4 is basically an expansion all by itself!
Also, that griffon reveal was fire 🔥🔥🔥

one day ill buy all expansions of gw2 and dive in this magical world, i played from time to time free reached 80lvl with my ranger and kinda stuck now without expansions, when ill have more time to play i definitely experience this masterpiece, grahics and gameplay are superior to 99% of mmorpg past or present

Great review! Path of Fire and the following Season 4 was the pinnacle of ANET and GW2’s storytelling. The mounts, music, bounties, exploration, flavor text and elite specs were so well done. Please do a Season 4,5 and End of Dragons review!
Really good video! I agree with other comments here that you are the best at making gw2 content in youtube.
And this that you mention that all content they add also connects beautifully to the rest of the game, is something I've also been experiencing recently. The more I play, the more I understand how ingenious and well crafted the game actually is, and I've played since launch on and off.
So glad you found the essence of what makes GW2 great.
I was making an Asura in GW2 and saw Gizmo's face preset, and I said "It's DISCO GIZMO!" ... And then I used a different face, because although we all love Gizmo, he is one ugly little goblin dude. LOL.

I do think you're discounting raid rewards slightly, though you're mostly correct. the unique raid cosmetics and infusions are cool, as are the dhuum throne and legendary ring you can obtain.

I recently completed PoF and I'm on the final quest of Living World Season 4.
LOVE the story. It has its cringe moments but otherwise I've been fully enthralled. I love how the dialogue is in person, and not the vanilla "cutscene" style.
Yea when i returned to Gw2 after path of fire dropped i gotta say i got super invested and just loved it.

This was excellent as usual. Also i like how you bundled the Living world as intro. Although then you Play season 4 i am expecting you to make a full video for it. And then one last episode for IBS and the last expansion. Believe me Season 4 warrants its own video.

I think base PoF was a huge setback from base HoT. But despite that, I still enjoyed it alot. The narrative was the only thing I found done better in PoF than HoT. The rich and varied zones, the mounts along with the mastery system are also just fantastic.
I'm glad you're making these fantastic videos to showcase what a gem Guild Wars 2 is. Boggles my mind how many MMO gamers still haven't played it, yet they complain about lack of innovation in the genre. GW2 is loaded with fresh ideas and talented artistry. While I've had my mixed opinions about whether or not mounts should have been added to the base content, Path of Fire's implementation of them was exceptional. One of the great MMO expansions.
desert always has been one of my most favorite zone in rpg and I was blown away byt path of fire, insane level and game design, just finished it 3 days ago, nice video anyway !

You might be able to get a video out of the Icebrood Saga story/maps tbh, while its technically a living world season, it was pretty much one with an expansion scope in mind (or at least would had been had Anets plans not changed midway through its development). Either way its very good content. So is Living World Season 4 for that matter (my 2 favorite "seasons" by far even including expansions).
