@Ryan Nelson I literally couldn't finish the video how irritating it is, and I was very interested in the recipe and the visual representation is good, but the voice is a big problem. This is public, for everyone to see, so it's very important to be done well. Especially it sounds very unnatural.

I began teaching myself to cook at the tender age of 8 years; my mother - a great and locally renowned cook herself - strongly objected as it was “not appropriate for a man to cook”. I completely disregarded her admonishment and have loved cooking all my life. I am now 74 years old and, like my mother, am renowned among my friends and family as being a wonderful cook. In every one of your videos I hear the words of a fellow soulmate who loves food, and most tellingly loves to share his favorite tasty treats with the people he loves! Thank you, Chef John.

Out of all the years I've watched UA-cam and all the years I've followed your videos, this is my first time commenting on any video. I just had to say that this almost exact recipe has been in my brain for years. I love both a Monte Cristo and a croque madame but any time I see either of these in a restaurant I think to my self I wish could add an egg to this or I wish this was fench toast. this combines my two favourite sandwiches. While this is fairly simply I just never thought to try it myself. Thank you for being awesome. Now I'm hungry

This going to be a very random comment.. But, here it goes:
I'm 32 years old, but my father passed away when I was only 17. He and I we're best friends. I still miss him very very much, although it's been so long. This channel popped up in my recommended. The sandwich looked good so I figured I'd check it out. To my surprise- the way u speak, and even your little puns, remind me so much of my dad. It really brought a smile to my face. I have a 13 year old son who was born only a week after i lost my father. (and he is my dad's carbon copy) I'm sure my son will love this sandwich just as much as I'm sure Dad would have.☺ can't wait to have him try it.

My wife suffers from Celiac's Disease. As a consequence I discovered that Gluten Free bread makes absolutely wonderful french toast. I think it has to do with the same reason you toast your bread. The dryness of the gluten free bread makes it a better receptacle for the egg mixture. Plus - it does not fall apart if you let it sit a little too long.

"white, tasteless, and devoid of any nutritional content"
This is actually good for a cannibal joke as well, I'd say.

I'm glad I found a chef who shares the same perverse obsession with Cayenne Pepper as I do.

dont you know that toasted bread won't soak liquid as soft bread?! if I were you and I wanted toasted flavor I would still toast the bread but use the toasted side inside and keep the soft bread out to soak the batter better....

I made this added some left over thai coconut curry sauce I had left over in the batter then I made a hollandaise sauce and poured it on top of a over easy fried egg along with some of the coconut curry sauce.

I've been doing the poor man's version of this idea for over a decade :P Mine has been untoasted bread dipped in eggs (with basic seasoning and some milk). Between them being smoked ham, Cheddar, Mozzarella, Tomatoes and salami, then into a toasted sandwich machine. With some Rocket to garnish. Got the Idea when I felt like French toast for breakfast and a toasted sandwhich for lunch but overslept and merged them for Brunch.

The emphasis on your words needs to stop being so repetitive because you just get muted and ignored. Not a bad voice, super shitty inflection
